Cole

I pulled into the driveway and slowly turned off the ignition. My fingers rested on the wheel for a while before I let go and leaned back against the seat. I heaved a deep sigh, my eyes heavy with exhaustion. The night had stretched out longer than I had planned. Too long, and draining.

I reached into my jacket pocket, pulled out my phone, and dialed Xavier. He picked up on the second ring.

"Xavier," I said, voice low but sharp. "Any updates yet about the investigation?"

"No. Nothing concrete yet," Xavier replied. "We’re still tracing—"

I scowled, running a hand down my face. "That’s not good enough. I need something by the end of the week. I don’t care what you have to do, just get me something! I want to wrap this up as soon as possible."

"Understood."

I hung up. I didn’t have the energy for more excuses. This investigation had dragged on far too long. I needed to be sure Amelia was safe—only then could I step away, let her live her life while I lived mine. That was the only wa

SkylarI woke up the next morning with a strange heaviness in my chest. My thoughts from the engagement party, the chaos, and Ethan’s declaration kept swirling in my head. But there was one thought that had kept me awake most of the night—the truth about me.By mid-morning, I found myself standing in front of my parents’ home. My hand lingered on the door for a moment before I finally knocked. The door opened, and there she was—Mother. Her warm eyes immediately softened at the sight of me.“Skylar, my dear,” she said gently, pulling me into a small embrace. “You’re here. How are you feeling? How’s the baby?”I forced a small smile, though my heart was thudding fast. “We’re both fine, Mom.”She nodded and stepped aside to let me in. The house had this faint, familiar, yet comforting scent of cinnamon and apples. I followed her into the kitchen where she immediately busied herself, as always, trying to take care of me in the little ways she knew best.“You must be tired,” she said, reac

EthanI didn’t even have time to catch my breath before my father’s iron grip clamped down on my arm.“Come with me,” he hissed angrily. My mother trailed behind us, her face pale as she tried to keep up with his long strides. He dragged me down the corridor, past a row of guest rooms, until he shoved one open and pushed me inside. The moment the door shut, he exploded.“What the hell were you thinking, Ethan?!” my father’s voice boomed. “Do you even understand what you just did out there?! On this day of all days?!”I stood there, silent.“You have ruined everything,” my father continued. “Everything this family stands for! Do you think I stood by you out there because I agreed with your stupidity?! No! I only did it to protect the Buckman name. To protect what little respect is left after your stunt!”His words cut deep, but I didn’t flinch. I just stared at him, my expression blank.“Answer me!” he shouted again. “What did you mean by saying you are no longer interested in the enga

CelesteI felt my heart stop. For a second, it was like my brain couldn’t even process the words Ethan had just said.No longer interested? My chest tightened, and panic shot through me like a knife.“What… what exactly is he talking about, Mom?” I blurted, my voice cracking as I turned toward my mom, desperate for her to explain, desperate for someone to tell me this was just some awful misunderstanding. “Mom, what’s going on?! What’s Ethan talking about?!”Nobody moved. The air in the room felt so thick. My father’s eyes darted between Ethan’s parents as if waiting for some sort of explanation from them, while my mom looked like she wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words.Jason’s jaw was clenched so tightly I thought his teeth might crack. The silence stretched until Ethan’s mother, Vanessa, finally broke it. She stepped closer to me, her face unusually calm.“Celeste, dear, let me go and talk to Ethan. I’m sure he didn’t actually mean what he just said,” she said softl

  • Sweet Submission: Love Me, Mr. Billionaire    Engagement Gone Wrong

CelesteI didn’t understand a single thing that was happening. One moment, the music was playing, people were mingling happily, sipping their champagne and chatting in little groups. It was my engagement party, and I was supposed to be glowing, smiling, and enjoying every second. Instead, the hall felt like it was spinning out of control.Skylar? Aurelia? Whoever she was supposed to be, her name was on everyone’s lips. I heard people whispering, pointing, exchanging shocked looks after Skylar and Cole left the hall.I glanced around and saw my mom standing stiff as a statue, her face pale and shocked. Dad had his arm around her, murmuring something in her ear as if trying to keep her from falling apart.Across the room, Jason was practically nose-to-nose with Ethan, yelling angrily at him. Ethan’s parents were standing protectively near him, throwing Jason angry looks while they tried to shield their precious son from the heat of the moment. It was chaos. Pure chaos. And it was ruinin

ColeI stood there, frozen, staring at the hurt in Skylar’s eyes. That look… it hit me harder than any punch could. She didn’t have to say a word. For the first time in a long while, I didn’t know what to say or where to even begin.Jason and I had been right — someone had overheard us talking earlier. And out of all the people it could have been, it had to be him.Ethan. That shameless, troublemaking, annoying scumbag.“Skylar… I can explain,” I began. But she didn’t even give me a chance. She gave me that same piercing look she had thrown at Jason a moment ago, her eyes already filled with tears. She shook her head fiercely, as if shaking away every single word she'd heard, and clamped her hands over her ears.“I don’t want to hear it!” she burst out, her voice breaking. And then she turned, running out of the hall.“Skylar!” I called after her, already moving.Jason moved to follow too, but I stopped him. “I’ll handle Skylar. You stay here and… deal with the mess inside.”Jason hes

  • Sweet Submission: Love Me, Mr. Billionaire    Bare Truth

SkylarI yanked my hand out of Ethan’s grip so fast it was as if touching him had scorched me.“What is the meaning of this?” I asked sharply. He didn’t even flinch. That smug smirk—one I’d seen more times than I cared to remember—curled at the corners of his mouth. It was the kind of expression that made my skin crawl because it always came right before he said something to wreck the mood. Before he could speak, Celeste recovered from her shock and stepped forward, folding her arms tightly across her chest.“You must have had too much to drink, Ethan,” she said sharply. “Because that’s the only reason you would be saying such rubbish in front of everyone. How could this lowlife be my sister?”I was ready to roll my eyes, maybe even snap back at her, but then I saw Mrs. Rothem’s face. The blood had drained from it completely. She wasn’t angry, or offended, or irritated. She was… frightened.A soft, strangled gasp left her lips. Her knees seemed to buckle, and she swayed. Mr. Rothem qu
