ZARYA ROGOV

When I woke up, the morning light was streaming through the curtains and enlightening the room. I forced myself to sit up, my whole body aching in pain. I looked at my side and found the bed empty.

What happened? I massaged my temples.

The past flashed in front of my eyes, and after that, I don't remember anything. Did I faint? I definitely went unconscious, but what was that? The memories I saw.

Right after noticing the necklace around his neck, my memories of that time came rushing back.

The scar he kissed...I got it because of him?

Just what...

"Agh!" I gripped my head.

This was a lot to process.

Did he wear that necklace on purpose? Did he kiss my scar on purpose to remind me of the past? So he knew I didn't remember anything.

I looked around the room, found my shredded clothes in the bin, and the rest on the couch.

I took a deep breath and removed the blanket from my body. The cold air hits the warmth of my skin, making me shiver. My heart beat fastened as I star

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 56

ZARYA ROGOV Everything in this world is fabricated.Humans, their opinions, and their whole image of the world around them.Fake.I felt their gazes burning my soul.I felt my father's shame in my bones.Uncle Dima surprisingly stepped into the act and helped me and my father up on our feet. He patted my father's back and gave me an empathetic look before turning to look at Sergei, who had his gaze on me.Uncle Dima called a guard and ordered him to guide my father out of the hall. Sergei didn't step in to stop him. I watched my father's retreating back and the whispers that surrounded us. I slowly took a step back, and a shaky breath escaped past my lips."We need to talk." Uncle Dima told Sergei, but he ignored him and began to walk towards me. His gait was that of a predator, which almost made my heart leap into my mouth, but my glare didn't waver away from him. Before he could tower over me, Uncle Dima blocked his way. Sergei's expression hardened as he glared at his uncle. "Ste

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 55

ZARYA ROGOV The moment I entered the grand hall beside him, all the heads turned towards us. My spine straightened, and my heart thudded loudly against my ribcage. The temperature within these tall walls was warm, but the eyes that watched us were colder than ice.All the masses clad in expensive attire nodded towards Sergei, some even bowed at him. It was likely that everyone here was from the underworld and came under him.I tried to spot Nadia and others, but found no one from his family. Guess they were restricted from attending such events, but I was exposed to it like a won trophy. His hand rested on my waist as he guided me through the hall. He slowed down the moment Uncle Dima approached us. The elderly man passed us one of his most extraordinary smiles. I was almost left blinded when he flashed his fake white set of teeth at us."Oh, there you are." He lightly slapped Sergei on his back and turned to look at me, but the moment his eyes travelled down to my neck, all the colo

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 54

ZARYA ROGOV The things he demands from me, I obviously go against them.Obeying him meant bowing down to Satan.I stared at my dress in the mirror. The dress was deep wine-red in color. It had a square neckline and thick shoulder straps, giving it an elegant yet structured look. The bodice was fitted, while the skirt flared out into a voluminous A-line silhouette. The fabric was velvet, which enhanced the dress's color.I let my hair down and put on a little makeup because I wasn't so enthusiastic about this event. His grand celebration could be a lot worse than my expectations, and I just knew I wasn't ready for whatever hell he was about to unleash on me.I took a deep breath, but my breath got stuck midway when he stepped into the room without knocking. I instinctively straightened up and just pretended to do something with my hair. Sergei slowly stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, all the while staring at me from head to toe. His hazel eyes traced my full form

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 53

ZARYA ROGOV There was no redemption for the devil because he doesn't want to be redeemed. There was only hell that awaited him.Sergei pinned me against the mattress; his grip wasn't tender, it was like an iron that almost resembled my prison. His gaze wasn't cold; it was filled with restrained rage, restrained with something much more.I couldn't control the shivers that ran up my body, but I refused to look away from him, refused to give in. He was so close that I could feel the heat of anger in him. I wondered what sin I had committed to make him so wrathful? It felt like I had wounded him just like he wounded me, like we were equally responsible for each other's destruction."Why don't you remember anything?" He asked, his jaw tightly clenched as he hit his fist beside my head right against the mattress in pure frustration. I flinched and tightly shut my eyes. I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Open your eyes and look at me." He commanded while grabbing my jaw. My fingers dug in

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 52

SERGEI MOROZOVWhen sins are enough to make you climb the peak of hell, it hardly feels possible to redeem; it hardly feels human. No way could lead you back, but several ways could lead you further into the chaos. The Rogovs were on the verge of crumbling. She was on the verge of her sanity.I won...but there was no sense of achievement. No victory ever made me happy because I was too fixated on the goal of ruining the Rogovs. I thought maybe after that I would feel the great satisfaction of achievement.I never felt it."There is no serious damage except that some of our men got injured in the fight," Bogdan informed. I nodded, staring at the injured men getting treated. None of them was able to hold on to Rafail, and it was expected. He was impossible to catch. But the fact that he came already meant that I had his leash. Even if I couldn't get to him, holding him back was enough to ruin the Rogovs. I ran a hand through my hair and looked up at the clear black sky. "Why did he spe

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 51

ZARYA ROGOV My back slammed against the wall, and a painful yelp escaped my lips. His rough hand tightened around my neck, cutting off my air supply, but not enough to kill me. Tears burned the back of my eyes, but my glare didn't waver.I had nothing to fear. He took it all, he took everything from me. Now, it was time I took his."Don't play with fire, Zarya. You already know the outcome." He growled against my face. "You shouldn't have killed her." I rasped, glaring up at him with my teary eyes."You shouldn't have betrayed me." He whispered against my lips, his hot, rugged breath against my skin sent a shiver down my spine."I never gave you my loyalty." I retorted, trying to push him away, but he was like an immobile wall."I never expected your loyalty, and either way, she was going to die.""Why don't you kill me already? What more are you waiting for? Haven't you done enough?" I asked, I couldn't hide the helplessness in my tone. I couldn't stop the tears from kissing my che
