My heartbeat halted as my ears picked up the name while my breath got stuck in my throat. “Zoey Summers?” I said to confirm that my mind is not playing any tricks on me.

“Yes, Officer. She just vacated her apartment today and had put it on sale.” He clarified while I stood there dumbstruck.

I knew that she could be just another Zoey living in this city and not my mate but after searching countless apartments, it was the only hope I was clinging to. The man stared at me in confusion when I didn’t say anything and I cleared my throat to control my emotions. “Do you have a picture of Ms. Zoey Summers?” I asked while my heart hammered against my rib cage in anticipation.
