Chapter 4

ผู้เขียน: Failed Life
Walking into the unfinished room on the right, Damian followed the bodyguard who'd been waiting inside into a bare, empty space. On the floor lay Donald, whose hands and feet were bound.

Damian turned and gave Shirley a look, signaling her to go see if Donald was the same one who'd gone to the hospital with Farrah for the IVF procedure.

Shirley walked up to Donald, grabbed a fistful of his hair, and yanked his head up. After studying his face for a moment, she straightened and went back to Damian. "It's him."

Damian waved, signaling to Vincent to take her out. Only when the sound of their footsteps faded down the hall did the anger boiling in his chest finally erupt. He strode over to Donald and drove his foot into him, kicking him over a dozen times before finally stopping.

Staring coldly at Donald, who'd curled up on the floor like a shrimp, Damian drew in a deep breath, forcing his fury down. Then, he flicked a wrist and said icily, "Break both his legs first, then drag him out."

As the bodyguards closed in on Donald, Damian turned and walked out of the room. In the living area, he saw that Vincent had already come back and had the bodyguards set up a chair.

Damian, his face stony, walked over and sat down. "Did that bitch get rid of the bastard yet?"

Vincent leaned in close and bent down, murmuring into Damian's ear, "Ms. Sutherland was taken to Lumen Hospital, the hospital nearest to Wayfarer Group, and examined. The baby's fine for now; she's still at the hospital.

"About 50 minutes ago, Robert showed up at the hospital, too. We don't yet know if the baby's been aborted. But since Robert is there, he'll force Ms. Sutherland to get rid of it, even if she doesn't want to."

"Keep a close eye on her."

"Yes, sir." Vincent showed Damian his phone. "This is the information on Donald's family. He was born and raised in Eastborough, Wharfpoint. His parents run a small neighborhood grocery store in the town of Port Mercer; it's about a thousand square feet.

"He's got a pair of younger twin sisters who are quite pretty. They graduated this year from Saltonvale University of Technology and are currently working for a Sutherland family subsidiary, AeroMax Tech."

Damian took the phone and scrolled through the information on Donald's family. He didn't say a word, but his gaze darkened, and he clenched his jaw.

Over ten minutes later, when the screams from the room started to fade, Damian handed the phone back to Vincent. "Drag him out here."

Vincent hurried to the room where Donald was being held and ordered the bodyguards who'd been beating him to haul him out.

When the guards threw Donald at Damian's feet in a crumpled heap, Damian stood. He planted his shoe on Donald's neck and slowly squatted down. His tone was glacial.

"You've got some balls, screwing my woman behind my back. You're still so young, but it seems you're already eager to die."

"M-Mr. Halston… I-I didn't… I swear…" Donald gasped.

Damian drove his foot into Donald over and over, cursing between blows. "Gutless fool—you commit the crime, but you don't dare own up to me. Let's hear it, then. How do you wanna die?"

"Mr. Halston, I… I'm not… I didn't! I…"

After a dozen savage kicks, Damian was breathing hard. He grabbed a fistful of Donald's hair and yanked his head up so their eyes met. He said icily, "Pretty bold of you, screwing my woman. When did it start, and how many times?"

"No… please… Mr. Halston, I didn't… We only did IVF… I've never touched Ms. Sutherland…" Donald rasped.

Damian let out a disbelieving laugh. He straightened up and flicked a wrist at the bodyguards beside him. "Keep beating him. Don't stop until he tells the truth. If I catch even one lie, I'll bury your parents and your sisters with you."

He sat back down in the chair and watched indifferently as the four bodyguards lay into Donald as he curled into himself on the floor.

"Mr. Halston, please! We didn't… We really didn't… Mr. Halston! I… I'm telling the truth!" Donald shouted.

After several minutes of this, Damian cleared his throat when he saw that Donald—lying on his front with his hands tied while getting pummeled—could only choke out the same few lines. He got to his feet, walked over to the latter, and motioned for the bodyguards to flip Donald onto his back.

Damian slowly crouched down, locking eyes with Donald, and let out a cold laugh. "Couldn't knock her up by screwing her, so you went straight for IVF, huh? What was the plan? You wanted me to raise your bastard so he could inherit my estate?"

"No… It's not like that. I never touched Ms. Sutherland. She… She's the one who said she wanted IVF…" Donald stammered.

Damian spat out a vicious curse, shot to his feet, and ground his shoe down on Donald's face. He roared, "How dare you mess with my woman! I hear you've got two younger sisters. Call them. Now!"

Seeing Donald's eyes instantly go wide, Damian pressed harder, his leather shoe grinding into Donald's face in a slow, cruel twist. "What? You've got a problem using your sisters to make it up to me when you screwed my wife?

"You've got one minute to think it over. If I don't like your answer when time's up, next year on this day, people will be crying at your grave."

He lifted his foot and sauntered back to the chair, sitting down with a mocking glint in his eyes. He watched Donald stare up at him in shock and sneered. "Trust me, I'm sleeping with both your sisters. I've never tried twins before. And even if you don't make the call, I've got plenty of ways to bring them to me.

"As for your parents… Well, for people who raised trash like you to continue existing in this world would be a waste of precious food. Better they join you in hell so you three can be a happy family there."

"No, please… Mr. Halston, don't do this… I'm begging you! Kill me if you want, but leave my parents out of this!" Donald pleaded.

Damian checked his watch, then started counting down icily. "You've got 20 seconds left. 19, 18, 17… 3, 2…"

Donald shouted, "I'll do it! I'll do it, Mr. Halston. I'll call my sisters… But please, spare their lives…"

Damian tilted his head at Vincent, signaling him to grab Donald's phone and bring it to him. His voice was flat and cruel. "That depends on whether your sisters are still untouched. If they've already had their cherries popped, then…"

Vincent powered on Donald's phone, strode over, and crouched down to scroll through the call log. "Rosalie and Isabel—these are your sisters' numbers, right?"

Donald froze for a beat, then suddenly shouted at Damian, "Yes, those are their numbers, but please just let them go! They just graduated college and are only 22 years old…"

"So now you think you're in a position to bargain with me?" Damian's voice dropped to a deadly chill. "Why didn't you think about the consequences when you were inside my woman? Rosabell Grocery in Port Mercer—sound familiar? If you can't get your sisters here, I'll make you watch your parents die right in front of you."

Donald squeezed his eyes shut, shaking all over as he clenched his jaw hard. After several seconds of agonized silence, he cried, "Fine, I'll do it! Call Rosalie."

Vincent glanced back at Damian. When he saw the stormy look in the latter's eyes, he hurriedly turned back and jabbed the call button. Then he held the phone to Donald's ear.

Damian and Isabel arrived at Metropolitan Plaza on Liberty Avenue. They spent an hour there—Damian picked out six outfits for Isabel, then bought six more sets of the same clothes for Rosalie. After that, he had her try on several sets of diamond jewelry. All told, he dropped over five million dollars, buying two of every design. When Vincent called and said he'd secured a reservation at Vine & Vault, Damian insisted that Isabel put on the new clothes and jewelry before he took her to Arcadia Atrium. Vine & Vault, known for being exclusive and having only three tables, was there.Damian smiled when he saw Vincent waiting outside the restaurant. He stopped and waited for Vincent to come over."I spent five grand to buy a table reservation. Your cousin Dennis is already in there with Calvin and Wayne. You'll see them as soon as you go in," Vincent said.Damian gave him a thumbs-up and pointed toward the restaurant across the way. "You and the bodyguards can go enjoy yourselves there

Vincent said, "They do know. This morning, Mr. Kingston from our side called Avenor Group and told Mr. Jeremy to cut off all cooperation with the Sutherland family."That confused Damian even more. "Could it be that Robert called Grandpa and used that bitch's bastard to pressure Grandpa into continuing to support them?"When Vincent didn't respond after several seconds, Damian went on, "Call Vine & Vault and get me a table there. I wanna see if Uncle Jeremy and his family really have the guts to keep working with the Sutherlands."Vincent agreed and hung up. Damian stood there thinking for a bit, then turned and walked over to Rosalie and Isabel. His gaze swept over the two of them before he smiled and asked, "Which one of you is coming out to dinner with me tonight? I'm only taking one. The other stays home and waits for us."Rosalie's face went pale after she traded a look with Isabel. She hurried forward and clutched Damian's arm, panic written all over her face. "M-Mr. Halston,

Rosalie thought about it. "I don't think so. After Donald graduated from college, he stayed in Saltonvale and hardly ever came home. When Isabel and I got into college here in Saltonvale, he still rarely came by campus to see us."But every month, he secretly wired us 2,000 dollars for living expenses and told us not to let Mom and Dad know. During our senior-year internship, he got us into AeroMax Tech. After we graduated, we officially joined the company. Donald also told us that if anyone at work ever picked on us, we had to tell him."As she rambled on, Damian pursed his lips, not knowing what to say. His gaze slid down to her legs, which had suddenly pressed tightly together. Then he shifted his eyes back up and grinned as he looked at her."You know, when you tapped in halfway earlier, did Isabel… Do you think she's getting up to something naughty in the bathroom now?"Rosalie's cheeks burned like they'd been held over an open flame. She pressed her lips together and shook he

Damian said, "Your resignation paperwork is all done, and my company has finished your onboarding, too. Tomorrow morning, before I head out, text me your bank account numbers. You two can just stay home—you don't need to go in to work."The company pays on the 15th of every month, so you can check your accounts on the afternoon of the 15th to see if the salary's in."Rosalie slowly pushed herself upright and reached out to touch Damian's arm. She murmured, "Can I go wash up?"He couldn't help laughing as he nodded. He watched as she hastily shuffled off the bed, one hand pressed to her lower belly as she ran for the bathroom. When he saw Isabel sit up, looking at a loss for what to do with herself, he lifted his arm in invitation. After a brief pause, she scooted over and nestled into the crook of his arm.He stubbed out his cigarette, his palm gliding over her smooth skin as he said, "You still haven't answered my question from earlier. You and Rosalie joined AeroMax Tech because

Around 3:30 pm, Eugene from the legal department knocked on Damian's office door and came in. Damian set the document he was reviewing down and looked up at Eugene, who had stopped in front of the desk."Mr. Halston, I just got back from AeroMax Tech. I spent over an hour negotiating with their HR. Both Ms. Rosalie and Isabel Lodge have signed ten-year contracts with AeroMax, and the company refused to let them resign."After some negotiation, we agreed to pay a penalty of 120,000 dollars each. Their resignations have already been processed, and Jim Rook from our HR just asked me which department you want them in."Damian cursed inwardly, then sighed and shook his head. With a sneer, he said, "Bold of them, demanding 120 grand for new hires who've only been there a few months. Do they think it's that easy to scam me out of my money?"Tell Jim that the twins are coming in as my secretary and assistant. They don't need to clock in or sit in the office. Each of them gets a fixed salar

Farrah stared at Winona dazedly for a moment, then suddenly cried out, "You don't get it! I'm doing all of this for our family. Hurry up and get me my phone—I need to call Donald!""You still want to call him? There's no way the Halston family will acknowledge a loser like him as part of the family," Winona snapped."Stop talking and just give me my phone! Tell David that I'm not signing that divorce agreement, not unless he brings Damian here!"Winona shot to her feet, glaring at Farrah. "I was right beside your father when Mr. Halston Senior called him yesterday, and I heard every word. He made it clear that if you don't sign that divorce agreement, the Halston family is taking back the two billion they invested in us.""Give me my phone! I promise you they're not taking back a single cent!" Farrah shouted.Winona's brows furrowed tightly as she studied Farrah for a good few seconds. When Farrah urged her for the phone again, she gritted her teeth and walked to the couch. She ru
