     (Vera POV)

"It has to be a joke, right? How can The Moon Goddess pair us with something like... her... We didn't deserve a cow in the name of mate for f*ck sake," Lucien threw his hands in the air while Rian was looking at me like he was feeling disgusted with this bond. All the hope and happiness that I just felt a few moments ago vanished in the air. I hadn't expected much from my fate, but the moment I found the scent of my mate, I got excited. I just followed it and came face to face with my bullies. The three infamous Princes of our academy. They spent their lives making my life hell because of my curvy body, but this bond made me hope for a bit of good because it isn't the first time the Moon Goddess paired two enemies together. I have seen many such couples, and now all of them were like ideal couples because our Matebond is sacred and holy in nature. Instead of one, the Moon Goddess paired me with all three Alphas, and they were my secret crush too, but seeing the look on their faces made me want to crawl inside a deep hole to avoid their avaricious look.

"Fine! What is done is done. We can't do anything about it, right?" Kael sighed, and I looked at his face with confusion.

"What do you mean, Kael? Are you ready to accept someone like... her?" Rian asked, and I tried very hard not to scream at them in anger. They were alphas, and I was just an omega, so I can't offend any of them... yet.

"What the hell! No!!! I mean, just reject her and move on. No need to be so dramatic about all this," His words cut me deep.

"You are right! But if you dare to tell anyone about this, then we will make your life a living hell, you Damn cow," Lucien warned me with a pointed finger, and I nodded my head in yes. They rejected me one by one, and I felt like something broke inside me. The last hope of something good happening in my life broke inside me. When they left, I fell on the floor and fainted.

I got up with a jerk and looked around. My body was drenched with sweat. "F*ck! It was a nightmare. Thank god! I am over this nightmare already," I reminded myself and got up for the chores of the Pack house.

***************

“Vera! Come here,” Luna Candice called me, and I put the dirty dishes in the sink before quickly washing my hands. I quickly walked towards her.

“Yes, Luna!”

“Today is your 18th birthday, so I have a gift for you.” She handed me a box wrapped with sparkling red gift paper. A smile crept onto my lips.

“Thank you so much, Luna,” I said before looking at the pile of gifts prepared for all the members of the pack who will experience their first shift tonight.

“Call everyone, so I can hand their gifts to them,” She ordered, and I nodded before leaving. I asked a guard to deliver Luna’s message to everyone before coming to my room. I quickly opened my box, and a light blue maxi dress was present in it. It wasn’t something extravagant, but for an outcast like me, it was like a luxury item. I touched the fabric and giggled like a schoolgirl after feeling its softness.

“I will definitely wear it tonight after my shift to celebrate my 18th birthday.” I put it back in the box and hid it in my old side table.

I quickly finished all the chores of the pack house before entering in the common room’s bathroom to take a quick shower. Anyone can use this bathroom, so I make it quick, but I was feeling a weird happiness in my heart, like today everything will be changed when I meet my wolf. A friend who will always stay with me no matter the situation.

I quickly wiped my body and dressed in my turtleneck with baggy jeans before covering my body with a jacket. I know they will start making fun of my weight if they notice me in a turtle neck, so I quickly hid it with my jacket.

“What a cow like you is doing here?” Sebastian entered in the common room with his latest fling, Zara, and sneered when he noticed me. I ignored his comment and left the common room. It was more like a waiting room for guests and a f*cking corner for some wolves like him. Sebastian knew he could get away with anything because his father was the beta of this pack, and he knew how to use this ticket in his favour every single time.

I quickly entered my room in the basement and combed my Silky black hair. My hair touches my bum, and with 5’6 height, it looks pretty long, but I like it this way.

I covered my heterochromic eyes with brown lenses and smiled after looking at my reflection in the mirror.

I was looking happy, and no matter how much they make fun of my curvy body but I like myself. I used to starve myself a lot after hearing students’ and fellows’ taunts, but now, I don’t want to change myself anymore. All the bullies can go and fuck themselves. He excitement of meeting overpowered every painful memory of my past, so I decided to be happy and carefree for today. I headed towards the ground where we will experience our first shift.

Everyone gathered in the ground hall of the Shadowvale pack, and all the elders were present just a few feet away to cheer the new wolves and to control them if someone lost control. I looked at the full moon, which was slowly turning red, and a smile crept on my face when I noticed a different power surging in my body. I sit on the ground and let it consume my body. After a few minutes, my bones started snapping and re-arranging, and I let out a loud scream, which soon turned into a howl. I looked at my paws and my heart burst with joy.

“Oh My God!!!” I heard someone gasp and looked at their face. Everyone was looking at my magnificent white wolf, and I was standing proudly in the hall.

“F*ck! She is really a jinx. We have to kill her.” My moment of pride ended in a few seconds, and only then did I notice the look of horror on their faces.

“Kill her or she will end this pack in no time,” Someone suggested from the crowd, and I shook my head before stepping back.

“Catch her and burn her,” Another one suggested. Everyone agreed, and my eyes widened in shock.

“Burn her, burn her, burn her,” All of them agreed, so I did one thing which came to my mind. I turned my head towards the forest and ran like hell. They came behind me, but I didn’t even know my mistake at that point.

“Hi, my name is Xela. I am your wolf,”  heard my wolf’s voice, and I gulped hard before heading towards the lake.

“Why are they reacting like this, Xela? Is something wrong with our wolf?” I voiced my fear, and she shook her head in no.

“Then what the hell are they doing?” I asked and looked at my reflection in the lake water. A magnificent white wolf was present in the reflection, and I almost gasped in surprise. My wolf also has heterchromic eyes like me. One silver and one golden, and a crescent was present on our forehead, right in the center.

“You are breathtaking, Xela,” I answered, and she purred in happiness.

“But that’s why they are targeting us. They knew our hybrid status now.” She informed in a whisper like voice.

I didn’t tell anyone when I started feeling weird powers after turning sixteen because I knew from the start, I was not a normal child like everyone else.

“What should we do now?” I asked when Xela let out a loud howl of pain. Someone stabbed us with a silver knife. Shadowvale’s soldiers caught us before we could think about any escape plan. They dragged us and threw us near the elders.

“Should we really burn her?” Alpha of my pack asked, and I looked at his stoic face with anger and disgust.

“I served this pack for so many years, and this is how you are going to pay me… By murdering me for nothing. I didn’t ask to be a hybrid.” I cried, and they exchanged looks with each other.

“She is right! She served this pack for so many years, and if we kill her or burn her, then all the omegas and soldiers will turn disloyal over time,” One of the elders said, and I gritted my teeth in anger. They were arguing about my life like they were talking about the rate of bananas in a market.

“Why don’t we send her to the Luna Survival Games this year? They have already sent an invitation, and we know how they eliminate the contestants, right?” Luna Candice added.

“Yes, yes! This is the easiest and most convenient way to get rid of this jinx.” All the elders agreed, and Alpha ordered the soldiers to lock me up in the guest room for two days, so they could prepare me for the Luna Survival Games. F*ck! My life is doomed for sure.

Your next event will take place tomorrow evening. Until then, you are free to recover and prepare.”I frowned.“That is all?”Nyra looked at me.I raised my hand. The room went silent.Queen Seraphine's smile tightened.“Yes, Vera?”“What happened to the contestants who didn't return from the forest?”Several women looked towards me.The Queen didn't blink.“As I said, they were eliminated.”“I heard that part.”Rafael coughed suspiciously behind me.I ignored him.“I asked where they are.”Queen Seraphine's eyes became colder.“Contestants who fail are no longer your concern.”That wasn't an answer. Before I could push further, one of the royal officials stepped forward.“The eliminated contestants are handled according to competition protocol. Your responsibility is to focus on your own performance.”Competition protocol.I didn't like the sound of that.Apparently, neither did Sebastian. From where he stood beside the Royal Council representatives, I noticed his expression harden s

(Vera POV) Pain. That was the first thing I felt when consciousness slowly returned. Not heartbreak. Not confusion about the Moon Goddess apparently developing an unhealthy interest in my love life. Not even anger. Just pain. Every inch of my body hurt like someone had thrown me from the palace roof, dragged me through a forest, and then invited a group of rogues to use me as a scratching post. I groaned and tried to move my leg. “Don't.” I opened my eyes and found Rafael sitting beside my bed with his arms crossed over his chest. “Why does everyone keep ordering me around?” “Because you have absolutely no sense of self-preservation.” “I survived.” “Barely.” “Still counts.” Rafael rolled his eyes, but the relief on his face was impossible to miss. I looked around and realized I was back inside my room. The curtains were drawn, several bottles of medicine had been placed on the table, and my injured leg was wrapped in fresh bandages. “How long was I unco

(Vera POV) I stumbled backwards, and Silas instinctively reached out to stop me from falling. His hand wrapped around my arm. Another shock passed through me. Different. But just as powerful. Xela whimpered. “Both.” I went completely still. “What do you mean, both?” “They are our second-chance mates.” I stared at Sebastian. Then Silas. Then back at Sebastian. This couldn't be happening. Three years ago, the Moon Goddess had given me three mates. Kael. Rian. Lucien. And all three had rejected me. Now she had apparently decided that the solution to my disastrous love life was to throw two Alpha Princes at me. Five mates. Wonderful. The Moon Goddess had officially lost her mind. “I don't want them,” I blurted out. Both men heard me. I expected anger. Or at least disappointment. Instead, Sebastian's expression softened. Silas immediately released my arm and stepped backwards. “You don't have to want anything right now,” Sebastian s

(Vera POV) The first rogue lunged, and the forest erupted into chaos. Silas reacted before I could even process what was happening. His body slammed into mine, pushing me behind him while Sebastian swung his sword at the rogue coming straight towards us. The blade sliced across its body, sending the creature crashing onto the ground only a few feet away. “Stay behind us,” Silas ordered without turning around. I stared at his broad back in disbelief. Did this man seriously expect me to hide behind him and watch while they fought? Before I could argue, another rogue jumped from the bushes towards Sebastian. He caught the creature in midair, plunged his sword into its shoulder, and kicked it away with enough force to send it crashing against a tree. “Vera!” Xela screamed inside my head. Her warning came a second too late. Something slammed into me from the side, and my body crashed onto the ground. Pain shot through my already injured leg as claws ripped through the fabric of my t

I was violently dragged underwater. I screamed, but water filled my mouth. Something pulled me deeper. I kicked wildly, trying to free my leg.Through the blurry water, I saw long black vines wrapped around my ankle. Not vines.Tentacles.A hideous creature stared at me from beneath the rocks, its mouth filled with rows of razor-sharp teeth. I shifted my hand partially, allowing my claws to extend, and slashed at the tentacle. It tightened… My lungs burned.“Hera!”Golden light exploded from my palm. The water around me flashed. The creature shrieked and released me. I shot towards the surface and gasped desperately for air.But the moment my head emerged—An arrow flew towards my face… I ducked. It sliced through my hair and embedded itself in the tree behind me.“What the f*ck?!”Another arrow came. Then another. I ran through the water and threw myself behind a rock. Someone was shooting at me. And this wasn't a monster.I smelled a wolf, A werewolf to be precise. My eyes narrowed

(Vera POV)I quickly headed towards the east sound, following my intuition, where I found my first flag with a wooden box. I opened it and found a compass, a map, and a safety survival kit. I checked everything carefully, and all the points where we would find our flags were marked. I thanked the heavens for this guide and started following it. After a few minutes, I noticed my area was completely deserted. I didn’t encounter a single contestant, which made me a bit suspicious. Just when I thought I was about to find my second flag, I heard an angry growl behind me. “F*ck! It’s not sounding like rogues actually,” I thought and turned to look at the creature, and for a moment everything stilled around me. It was a shadow monster, a mythical creature I had read about only in books. I quickly changed into my wolf form and took a stance. He retreated slowly, but a sharp pain pierced my left leg. An enchanted wolf bit my left leg so hard that I started bleeding. I turned to kick him off
