Chapter 10: I Think Lonely Days Are Over

"I will get the door,” I said to a lifeless Bram, who didn't make an attempt to move on the bed. I opened the door to my Beta, “I asked to not be disturbed, Adrian.”

“I’m sorry to disturb you, Alpha but there is something important you need to know.”

“You should have mind-linked me, Adrian.”

“You blocked me out, Alpha.”

“I have a meeting with the elders today, you should call for an urgent meeting in 15 minutes. I would love to introduce Bram to everyone.”

"It's not something to gather everyone up, Alpha. It's unorganised and they are busy taking care of your wedding guests.”

"Keep your voice down, Bram is resting. Just go away, I will see you in a few minutes.”

" Yes, Alpha.”

I let out a tired sigh, shutting the door. I already know there is no good news with urgent information. I sat on the bed, caressing Bram’s tired face. There was a hot blush on his cheeks, “Are you tired, babe?”

“I’m fine but I can’t say the same for my wolf.”

"My patience is really running low with you Bram, don't push me too hard and just rest for now. l will come back to get you so you can meet my people. Right now I have an urgent meeting,” I said and I already knew he wouldn't give me an answer so I walked away.

“Then why did you merge our pack with them? You even gave our land documents in agreement to marry the Omega in return, all this just to watch werewolves hunters burn it to ashes?”

"Get the kitchen to prepare my favourite baked cinnamon rolls, I want Bram to try it,” I ignore his obvious questions, “Send someone to fix Bram up and have him meet me right now, any other issues?”

“Alpha Alice of Crimson Moon sent a letter asking for your help. There was an attack on her pack, it was done by the werewolves hunters. She said it was an ambush since you owe her a favor, you should send some help.”

“These hunters are becoming a headache. Send Beta Ander and Ryan to go offer their support.”

“Beta Ander is out on a mission and is unavailable. Ryan will go instead. I already told him to be on stand by at the People’s pack.”

“Get Ander back and have him carry out my orders.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

“Then this conversation is over, get to work,” I rub my temple, knowing I have no plans to fight for anything. Alpha Richard is a corny ass man, he should be able to handle the situation without my interference. 

Although I dislike these hunters as they are bent on wiping out my kind, I won’t attack them first unless they touch a hair on any wolf under my jurisdiction. We have already gone so deep into the woods but they are still looking for a way to get to us. This world is a vast one, so diverse that one can live freely but this is something humans don’t seem to understand.

Anyway this is good news for Bram, knowing his father might die soon.

I completed the paperwork on my table, sealing several Pack extended crises. Since the Southeast Pack legally legislates everything, my wish is the command at the end of the day and the People’s pack are just small fries. I picked up the newspaper and began reading but I’m distracted as Bram walked downstairs, I dropped the daily news, drinking in this beauty.

The maid returns with a plate of cinnamon rolls, “Alpha, here is it.”

“He is so young,” Elder Elizabeth serves Bram a tea, “Son, do you like it here in our pack? You don’t look so well,” He stares at every corner of his face, concerned about the omega's health.

I glared at Bram as he bit his lips nervously, hesitating to reply to the elder. He looked at me with fear in his eyes and I knew the rest of the elders were watching his reactions.

“Bram, the elder asks you a question,” I tilt my head to the side, daring him to say nonsense.

He smiled softly to the elder, “I’m doing fine, elder. Thank you for asking.”

The elder takes Bram’s hands into hers, rubbing the back of it, “You are indeed so very special. I think I might have met your mother once.”

“She is no more, Elder.”

“I know, the Alpha has told us everything. I hope you enjoy your stay here in Southeast where you will be safe.”

“Oh,” Bram begins to feel nervous and I could tell.

The elder was also unaware as she continued, “Don’t worry, you and Knight will get along in no time. I’m more than satisfied that he is ready to settle down as he is such a busy person. You see, I saw him when he was just a baby. Now he has grown into quite a dominant man and a tamer at that. He doesn’t listen to anybody, he always gets what wants and at all costs. I don’t know if it is a good or a bad thing and more importantly he lacks patience. He is also a foul mouth but his heart is very kind and he is loved by many for his sacrifices. At a very young age he has achieved a lot of things but he refuses to be the head alpha, letting his father take control until he finds the one he wants to make his Luna. I’m finally glad he has found someone to rule the Southeast by his side.”

“Did he also tell you that I’m not his…”

I cut Bram shut, already knowing the inappropriate thing he wanted to say, “Elder, you shouldn’t gossip about me as if I’m not here.”

“I’m only telling the truth, Knight.”

“I don’t agree with you at all, Elder.”

“Bram, you have to visit me sometime.”

“Okay.”

“Omega Bram, please let me pour you a drink,” Adrian offered a toast to Bram where he quietly accepted. Even though that was the weirdest exchange, I clearly knew Adrian was trying to get my attention but as usual he is not competent for it.

I stood on my feet and got the attention of everybody, “Thank you to all of you for coming to receive my mate,” I look into Bram’s eyes in a split second before he looks away, “Thank you for not rejecting me and for willing becoming mine,” I raised a glass to Bram.

I don’t have the time to take in his reactions as everyone clapped, encouraging me, “Well said, Alpha.”

But I don’t take my eyes off him. I take a step towards him, stretching my arms to him as he gets on feet, holding onto me. I couldn’t help but smile, kissing his forehead as the elders were rejoicing.

“I would like to be excused,” I said as the elders continued to hail me.

“Long live, Alpha Knight. Long live, Alpha Knight.”

Suddenly Adrian mind links me, “Congratulations on claiming someone else's mate, Alpha.”

Hi, this is Lame Ruler. This note will probably reach you if this book gets signed and I’m really crossing my fingers. Although, low key I became reluctant after editing this book again. It so fucking hard and time consuming because I literally have to cut and filter out a lot of unnecessary stuff. 

I just realized why it was my first ever book written 4 years ago and I have grown a lot. I was so young and crazy, maybe? Idk if that is the right word, Hehe. I really don’t know what to say but I hope you enjoy the book.

And please be aware of the tags, I mean until the end of the book. Since it is already completed I will upload as much as possible. Also, I made some changes. E.g, Alpha Knight's original name was Knightly. I also adjusted He and Bram’s age. And the original name of this book was Poison Of The Enticing Flames but since my first editor told me to use an attractive name, I decided to go with The Poisoned Omega.
