Accidental Accusations and Protective Instincts

Author: Ada
(James's POV)

"Pathetic Alpha scum!"

The words burst from my lips before I could stop them. The moment they escaped, I felt my entire body freeze in horror.

Alpha Aaron Steel's head jerked up from his paperwork, his eyes narrowing dangerously. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees as his eyes flashed gold.

"What did you just say?" His voice was deceptively soft, but the Alpha power behind it made my wolf cower.

My mind raced frantically. I'd been thinking about Luna Freya's pregnancy and how Aaron was treating her while entertaining Caroline Redwood, and my thoughts had somehow transformed into words.

"I—I—" I stuttered, sweat breaking out across my forehead. "I was just thinking about that new werewolf drama my mother watches! There's this Alpha character who's absolutely terrible—a real scumbag."

Aaron's expression didn't soften, but his eyes returned to their normal color. "You're thinking about television dramas during pack duties?"

I nodded enthusiasti

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   The Finality of Severance

(Freya's POV)The SUV moved silently through the streets, the tension between us thick enough to cut with a knife. I stared out the window, watching buildings and trees blur past, unable to look at Aaron's profile for more than a few seconds at a time.Neither of us had spoken a word since leaving the pack house. What was there to say? He had finally agreed to the mate bond severance I'd been asking for, and now we were on our way to make it official. I should have felt victorious, relieved.Instead, I felt hollow. The temperature inside the vehicle was uncomfortably cold. Aaron hadn't turned on the heater, probably because he was too angry to care or perhaps as a small punishment. I didn't blame him. After all, I had just declared my preference for another Alpha male.As the minutes passed, the chill began to seep through my light coat. I hadn't grabbed anything warmer in our rush to leave. Trying to be discreet, I pulled the fabric tighter around myself, hugging my arms against

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   Decisive Confrontation

(Freya's POV)The heated tension between us hung heavy in the air. Aaron's body still pressed against mine on the bed, his eyes burning with possession after I'd slapped him. The romantic atmosphere that might have once existed between us had completely vanished, replaced by something darker and more dangerous. After a long, tense silence, Aaron's hand moved to grab my chin roughly. His fingers dug into my skin as he forced me to meet his gaze."Was it all fake then?" he asked, his voice low and mocking. "Our intimacy too? Just like our political mate bond?"His crude words shocked me. This wasn't the Aaron I knew—or thought I knew."Have you forgotten how you used to beg for my attention before Caroline came back from European territory?" he continued, his words cutting deep. "How eager you were for my touch then?"Hot rage surged through me. My wolf Bella snarled ferociously within me, demanding I defend myself against such humiliation. Without thinking, I slapped him across th

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   Confrontation and Possessiveness

(Freya's POV)Aaron's eyes dangerously narrowed as he stared at Marcus, his jaw clenched tight. The tension between them was palpable, sending ripples of unease through the restaurant."When did it become your decision whether she wants to follow me or not?" Aaron demanded, his Alpha presence filling the air around us like a storm cloud.Marcus smiled calmly, seemingly unaffected by Aaron's fury. He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses with delicate precision before turning his attention to me."Then let Little Snow tell you herself," he suggested, his voice soft but carrying confidence.I noticed Aaron's eyes flash gold at Marcus's use of my childhood nickname. Only those closest to me had ever called me that - my father and Aaron himself. Hearing it from Marcus's lips clearly infuriated Aaron further, his jealousy almost tangible in the charged air between them.My heart tightened in my chest as I realized what was happening. Marcus was giving me the perfect opportunity to break fr

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   A Desperate Choice

(Freya's POV)"This is impossible," I thought to myself as Marcus proposed his bet.His confidence that Aaron would come after us seemed absurd. While I might believe Aaron could eventually find me, the probability of him rushing over immediately seemed extremely low. Yet Marcus was certain."So what exactly do I get if I win this bet?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "You never specified my prize."Marcus smiled enigmatically as the restaurant came into view. "Let's just say you'll owe me a favor."I frowned. "That's not how bets work. I should know what I'm winning.""Fine. If Aaron doesn't show up, I'll stop bothering you about the mate bond severance. You can handle it however you want," he conceded."And if he does show up? How exactly will you help me?"Marcus's lips curved into that mysterious smile again. "You'll see."The driver pulled up to the restaurant entrance, a high-end establishment with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Northern Ridge territory. Marcus in

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   A Surprising Encounter and a Wager

(Freya's POV)I stepped out of the Northern Ridge Pack headquarters, frustration still simmering inside me. My conversation with Caroline had left me with more questions than answers, and Aaron's sudden refusal to sever our mate bond made absolutely no sense. My phone buzzed in my purse. I pulled it out, surprised to see Marcus Cross's name on the screen."Hello, Marcus," I answered, trying to keep my voice neutral despite my turbulent emotions."Hello, Little Snow," his warm voice replied. "I see you're at the pack headquarters. Just leaving?"I froze mid-step, glancing around the parking lot. "How did you know I'm here?"A soft chuckle came through the phone. "Look to your right, near the oak tree."Following his directions, I spotted a familiar black SUV parked a short distance away. Marcus stood beside it, phone in hand, waving at me.I ended the call and walked toward him, my wolf Bella curious but cautious within me. "This is unexpected," I said as I approached. "Why are

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   Confrontation Between Rivals

(Third-person's POV)The tension in Aaron's Alpha office was palpable as the two she-wolves faced each other. Caroline stood with her chin raised slightly, her posture radiating confidence despite the bandage still visible on her forehead. Freya remained seated on the leather couch, her violet eyes calm and observant."If I remember correctly, you two were supposed to sever your mate bond after Elder Katherine's surgery, weren't you?" Caroline asked, her voice dripping with contempt. Her lips curved into a mocking smile as she continued, "It's been so long since Elder Katherine's surgery, why aren't you severed yet?"She paced a few steps closer, her designer heels clicking against the hardwood floor. "Freya, could it be that you're coveting the position of Luna of the Northern Ridge Pack and want to break our agreement by not severing the mate bond?"Unable to find Aaron, Caroline had clearly decided to taunt Freya instead. If Caroline hadn't helped her family keep their ancestral

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   Refusal to Sever the Mate Bond

(Freya's POV)I paced back and forth in Aaron's Alpha office, my heels clicking against the hardwood floor. The sunlight streamed through the large windows, illuminating the space that carried his scent everywhere."I know you're avoiding me, Aaron," I said firmly into the phone. "We had an agreement."His silence on the other end only fueled my frustration."We agreed to sever our mate bond after your grandmother's surgery," I continued, trying to keep my voice steady. "Then you changed it to after her recovery. She's better now, so what's your excuse this time?"I heard him exhale sharply through the phone."I'm busy with pack business, Freya. This isn't the right time."I stopped pacing and gripped the phone tighter. "Not the right time? When will it be the right time? Next week? Next month? Next year?"My wolf Bella stirred inside me, sensing my rising emotions. I placed a protective hand over my abdomen where our unborn cub grew, hidden from Aaron's knowledge."I don't un

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   Desperate Measures

(Caroline's POV)Father's expression grew increasingly grave as we continued our conversation in his private den. The firelight cast deep shadows across his face, making him look older and more concerned than I'd seen him in years."This won't work, Caroline," he said, leaning forward in his leather chair. "From what you're telling me, I'm deeply worried about your situation with Aaron."I could see the calculation behind his eyes. As Alpha of the Redwood Pack, my father rarely showed vulnerability, but now his concern was evident."What do you mean it won't work?" I asked defensively. He sighed heavily. "I had assumed you and Aaron were already a sure thing—that you were just waiting for him to sever his mate bond with Freya. But now you tell me you haven't even established a physical connection?"His words stung because they highlighted my own fears."If Aaron truly desired you," Father continued, "how could he have spent years in your company without making any advances towar

  • The Pregnant Luna Rejected Her Alpha   The Desperate Struggle for Affection

(Freya's POV)After saying goodbye to Grace Hunter, I headed directly to the wolf medical facility. My mind was still replaying our conversation, particularly my declaration about keeping my cub and severing the mate bond with Aaron. Saying those words aloud had solidified my resolve. The medical facility corridors were quiet as I made my way to Elder Katherine's room. I paused outside her door, adjusting my cardigan and taking a deep breath before entering with a warm smile."Look who's here," Sarah Steel announced, turning from her position beside the bed. "We were just talking about you, Freya."Elder Katherine's eyes brightened when she saw me. Despite her recent surgery, the elderly she-wolf looked remarkably improved, her complexion rosier than before."My dear," Elder Katherine extended a slightly trembling hand toward me. "Come sit by me."I moved to her side, gently taking her hand in mine. "How are you feeling today, Elder Katherine?""Much better," she replied, pattin
