Chapter 11

"Man, Jasper, that was absolutely epic!" David exclaimed, playfully punching my arm with a wide grin on his face.

I was caught off guard, staring at him in surprise.

"What?" David questioned, still grinning. "Don't tell me you didn't feel alive," he said with a playful tone.

A slow grin spread across my face as I processed the rush of adrenaline from our recent adventure. "Hell yeah," I replied enthusiastically.

In no time, David, James, and I were laughing hysterically like a bunch of fools, while Nuella looked on with a bewildered expression. She muttered something about the foolishness of boys under her breath, but it only made us laugh harder.

We chatted animatedly for a while longer before deciding it was time to leave. I hopped into my car and glanced over at Cassandra, who was still sound asleep, looking serene and almost childlike. I couldn't help but admire her peaceful vulnerability as I brushed a strand of hair from her face, causing her to smile faintly in her slumber.
