JACOB’S POV

He found the sound of her breathless moans intoxicating. He rested his hands on her hips, letting one occasionally lift to her hair, pull her closer, and kiss her.

Her body was his obsession. It always had been. And he still hadn't gotten over the overwhelming desire to touch her.

He liked watching her react to his body. He liked hearing the sounds only he could get from her. He liked watching her try to please him. She was always trying to please him. It was addictive. The more she saught out his attention, the more he craved her.

“Ugh—you’re mine.” He groaned.

“I’m yours.” She mirrored.

He watched her face but her eyes seemed to constantly skip his. She looked up and around the plane. This made him feel a little uneasy.

She used to focus entirely on him.

“What are you thinking about?”

“You,” she replied immediately.

He smirked but instructed, “then look at me.”

Her eyes fell to his face and then quickly fell away. Almost instinctively he grabbed her chin and held her in

  • The Price of Forgiveness   Chapter 22

Cassie POVIt was my first day working in Antonia Reeva’s office. To my disappointment, Antonio had been called away. But his son, Marcus, was at the door to greet me and show me around.“My father does a lot of his research in these rooms. The building isn’t new and he and Mila Turner have been renovating the upper levels. We’ll usually be working on the 11th and 12 floor but we’ll be on the 8th floor until that’s done.” Marcus explained. “You will have your own office soon.”“This is great,” I smiled. I didn’t care where I worked. I was just excited to work. I was excited for this opportunity. I bashfully warned, “I’m pretty sure I’m too out of practice for all this.”“Non-sense.” He smiled warmly and put a hand on my shoulder. I flinched away from it instinctively. Nervous, he pulled his hand away and his face turned serious. He said, “you will do great. They’re building everything from the ground up. You won’t have to do anything alone.”He looked around the room, then smiled and

Jacob’s POVThe issue at the company had been resolved. A few company apologies and lunches to repair minor damages. The call from Bart Burton was unexpected and mildly unwelcome. Although he wanted to take the lead on these dinners, he couldn’t help but be curious about his father-in-law’s call.Jacob sat on the small stone patio outside his office, sipping his cappuccino and looking over the city.Bart sat across from him.“I don’t have a lot of time. How much do you need this time?” Jacob asked. His tone dismissive.“We don’t want your money.” Bart told him.Jacob smirked. Then he looked at Bart and raised an eyebrow, “oh?”Jacob put the cup down and settled in his chair.“What’s your plan then? Continue to stress out your daughter and wife while searching for a job. Eat into your savings? Do you… still have a savings?” Jacob smirked mockingly.Jacob took another sip of his drink, sighed loudly, and smiled at Bart.Bart said, “I don’t want your filthy money.“yes you do.”“My daugh

The house looked nothing like how I’d left it. It had been returned to its standard state.Jacob had returned to work shortly after dropping me off at home after the hospital. And he’d spent the night there.I had every right to be mad. I knew that. But still, I couldn’t get over the fear and guilt over him risking his company and the lives of all his employees just because I’d left.So I spent my morning baking a triple-tier cake, homemade frosting that read “thank you for your efforts,” about 80 cookies, 20 croissants, and 30 brownies, and I packed them all up, and bought 3 litres of coffee to bring to Jacob’s office.I went to his office building and approached the front desk.“Good morning. Are you… visiting?” The receptionist asked. She looked at my small wagon cart of desserts.“I’m bringing this for my husband.” I explained with a smile.“Oh,” her face brightened as if that made more sense than whatever she was thinking, “do you know where he works?”“The CEO’s office.” I answe

CASSIE POVGlaring at Jacob only seemed to make him happier. It hurt to sit. My butt felt swollen and hot. He’d never spanked me before. Not like that, at least. That was angry, and infuriating. Who was he to be mad at me?!I was his perfect wife! I cooked! I cleaned! I forgave every unimaginable indiscretion. I slept with him regularly, even when the sight of him disgusted me.And he had the audacity to be mad at me?!He sat in his seat and looked out the window. A faint smile on his lips.I couldn't guess what was in his head. But then again... we hadn't been as close since getting married. Before marriage - before I caught him in the club and found out I'd been a bet - I could ask him any question. And he'd always answer honestly... or I thought he did at least.Curiously, I decided to test that.“How many women have you been with?” I decided to ask. The air locked in my throat as soon as I said it.He looked at me, his eyes lost. Then he focused and said, “two.”“Two?” I felt stra

Jacob hadn’t spoken to me since leaving the café. The drive to the airport was quiet and tense. We drove behind the airport and into a designated section of the runway. He jumped out of the car the moment the car was parked.I unbuckled my seatbelt and Cal—driving the car—said, “he was terrified when he saw the house. He thought the worst. He is not mad, he’s concerned.”“Thank you,” I mumbled as I got out of the car.I followed Jacob onto his private plane. He sat me across from him at a table. He was staring at his phone, still not saying a word. The tense atmosphere was suffocating.“I didn’t check out of my hotel.” I said.“Cal will handle it.” He said without emotion or acknowledgement.“I didn’t get my stuff.”“Cal dealt with it.”“What’s the meal plan for the flight? I haven’t had breakfast.”“Cal will handle it.”I hesitated, then said, “what was your work emergency last night?”“We invested 3.7 billion dollars into a project that was about to fall through because an intern en
