LOGINSasha's POV:
It was around two in the morning, when I was woken up through the mind link by my Father, 'GET UP NOW, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK’ my father said loudly. Emelda woke up quickly beside me and we looked at each other with confused, terrified faces. We then scrambled to our feet, and ran all the way downstairs, outside to the front of the packhouse. It was pure chaos. Pack members were running helter skelter, screaming and shouting. Some were with children in their hands. There were a lot of dead bodies of my pack and theirs… I was beyond shocked, like completely out of words. Like who would do this to us? We were a peaceful pack, we never made any enemies or even tried to start a war. I stood there, I could not process what was going on, everything was happening really fast and swift. The smell of blood was overwhelming, the screams were deafening, I could no longer hear, I was so lost and confused, the only question on my mind was simply ‘Why’. My mother mind linked me, ‘Sasha where are you sweetie?’, her panicked voice asked. ‘Mom, what is going on?’ I asked her. ‘Sweetheart, now is not the time to be asking questions, where are you?’. I didn't even realize I was crying until I fell to my knees, combing through my hair with my hands and discovered my hands were shaking. 'Sasha now is not the time to sulk and be weak, our people need us’.. my wolf Lina said. 'Tell me what to do,’ I asked her. "Give me control," she replied. So I shift into my wolf and let her take control. Lina started fighting, heck I don't even care if I die. I would gladly die with honor knowing I died while defending the people I love and cherish. I turned to see that Mel had also turned into her wolf and was fighting. We got near the border where the attack was mostly happening and mind linked my father, ‘Daddy where are you?’. No response. I was terrified. Please moon goddess, don't let anything happen to my family. Then I spotted my father and mother fighting alongside the Beta and his family (Mel's mum and brother Kyle). I joined the fight along with Mel, we were completely outnumbered. Like way out numbered. My father then noticed us and mind linked me, ‘SASHA, GET OUT OF HERE NOW. RUN’. ‘NO, I'M NOT LEAVING YOU GUYS OUT HERE ALONE. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY DADDY, I'M FIGHTING ALONGSIDE YOU GUYS’. He turned to me in his wolf form and shook his head. Just after that happened, Emelda's mom was bitten in the throat, with her neck in the other wolf's mouth, she mind linked everyone,’I love you Emelda Cassie Jones, and Kyle Adams Jones. I love you so much Alex, don't forget that, I love you all’. And her eyes went black. The wolf had ripped a chunk of her throat out, he then threw her lifeless body to the side like it was nothing. The next thing we heard broke my heart, it was Beta Alex howling in pain, for the loss of his mate, the loss of the love of his life, you could hear multiple howls laced in pain after this, it was our pack howls, the pain of losing someone close to us, someone that is like family. The howling stopped, then I turned to Mel in my wolf form rubbing my head against her neck to try and comfort her. At that point, my mother shifted back to her wolf form and ran down to us, ‘Sasha darling listen up… you and Emelda need to go…” she was abruptly cut off by someone. ‘Tsk Tsk Tsk, now now now, Mrs Vanders, if your pack could just comply with our new contract, this alliance would still be strong and this would never happen’. I turned to see the one person I would never have thought to see… XAVIER. Xavier is one of the few packs we have an alliance with. His father was a good friend of my father, they made an alliance to always keep each other's pack safe from external attacks. If one pack needs reinforcement, the other would jump in and help. They were our trusted ally. About two years ago, Xavier's mother died from a rogue attack which led to his father becoming lost (kinda like a lost soul, he is not dead). Once you've lost your mate, it's hard to remain sane, though it is not impossible. This ended up making Xavier an Alpha at the age of 22. It was always Xavier, Kyle, Emelda and I growing up. Every time Xavier came over to our pack with his father either for business or random visitations, we would always run around together, play video games and even see who was better at what games. Xavier was like the older brother I never had, he was someone I was comfortable with, someone I trusted. We even thought we would be mates at one point but when he turned 16, he knew we weren't mates which was better for me because like I said, I viewed him like an older brother I didn't have. ‘Xavier please let the girls go’,my mother pleaded with him. I was so confused, why was Xavier attacking and killing my pack, my pack was like his pack. We were neighbours, we were practically family. ‘You want to know why I'm attacking your pack Sasha?’,Xavier asked, turning to face me, I nodded my head up and down saying yes, seeing as I was still in my wolf form. ‘It was time to make a new contract, if we still need to be in Alliance, then your Alpha would need to give you up to me,to be my mate. You have Alpha blood, and I have Alpha blood, so our pups would grow up to be strong werewolves, so you see my dear, none of these would have happened if your father was to put his pack and duty as an Alpha first by giving you up rather than choosing to be a father first, this is all.your fault.’ I stood still, I was dumbfounded. I was brought back by my mother's piercing screams ‘Sasha Run’. I looked and saw one of Xavier's pack wolf lunges for my mother, grabbing her by the throat and before she could say anything else, snapped it thus killing her. It was easier because mom was in her human form. I heard my Dad howl in pain from the loss of his mate, his wolf going crazy, killing everyone from the other pack around him in a frenzy. I was frozen, My mother… the woman that gave birth to me, the woman that loves me unconditionally, the woman that taught me right from wrong, the woman that couldn't even hurt a fly, the woman with a pure heart. The woman that always had a smile on, one that always put her mate, her daughter and the pack first, before herself. The woman I truly love with all my heart…is gone. Gone in a blink of an eye and I couldn't even get to say goodbye. I was lost in my own little world. The screaming stopped, the vile smell of metallic blood also gone. Everything was gone, I couldn't wrap my head around what was happening. I was in serious shock. I was brought back to reality by my father, he was in human form. He probably changed back when he noticed I was having a mental breakdown. ‘Sasha, Emelda, leave, run until you can't run anymore. You guys need to leave now. I love you and your mother loves you too. We are definitely proud of the woman you are becoming. He said in his Alpha voice before morphing into his huge wolf. ‘No daddy, you can not do this to me, you are all I have left. Daddy please.’ but my legs were already moving on their own accord. A couple of Xavier's pack wolves lunged at us, but my father, Beta Alex and Kyle killed them before they got to us. We were running straight towards the border and just before we crossed it, I heard Xavier scream, ‘Sasha wherever you go, I will find you. I promise you that. And I will kill everyone that is helping you. MARK MY WORDS’. I took one last look at my home, a place I've called home for the whole 18 years of my life, the place that I grew up in, my pack, it is all gone. Houses were being burnt, dead wolves and children that didn't even grow up to experience having their own wolf. It was all my fault. Xavier's words were embedded in my head,’It's your fault…’ It is my fault. She looked up. Alex was standing at the counter again. He had moved towards her silently and she hadn’t heard him till he got to her front."Don't what?" she asked him."Don't throw them away," he said to her. He looked at the box, then at her thin frame. "You look like you haven't eaten in a week, so you should just eat them instead of thrashing them all."He told her."I eat," Zara snapped at him defensively. "I have a high metabolism,"she said to him."I'll buy them then" Alex said to her."They're stale, Mr. Smith. We throw them out." She responded to him."I'll buy them," he repeated, his voice leaving no room for argument. He slapped a hundred dollar bill on the counter in front of her.Zara stared at the money. "This is a box of day old muffins. It's worth maybe ten dollars, not worth a hundred." she told him."Consider it a tip then" he said. "Pack them up. Take them home. Eat them." he told her."No, I really can't accept this." Zara told him."It's for the errrmm... scholarsh
The Daily Dose Café - Two Days LaterThe smell of burnt espresso beans and wet wool was usually enough to mask anything here in the cafe, but today, it wasn't enough to mask Zara's exhaustion. She stood behind the counter of The Daily Dose, a cramped, humid coffee shop three blocks from campus that catered to sleep deprived students and budget conscious locals around the area. It was 3:00 PM on a Thursday. Outside, the sky was a bruised shade of purple, threatening another storm.Zara wiped the counter for the tenth time in seven minutes. Her hands were trembling. The suppressants were taking a serious toll on her. To keep Alex from scenting her wolf, she had brewed the latest batch of her mixture with double the concentration of wolfsbane than it used to be before. It worked though, seeing as she smelled like absolutely nothing but the side effects were more brutal. Her joints ached, her head pounded with a dull, rhythmic throb, and she felt a constant, low-level nausea.‘You are wea
Alex kept on staring at her as he looked for the lie in her response to him. He looked for the spark in her eyes to explain that she had felt the spark too, that she had felt the zap from the electric that he had felt from touching her now on two different occasions. She gave him nothing but exhaustion, like he was disturbing her and she had no idea what he was talking about. He let out a short, frustrated breath through his nose. He leaned back into his chair, withdrawing his hand from her. The loss of contact made Zara's skin ache."You are a terrible liar," he murmured. "But I have time. I'm a very patient man, so I will definitely find out soon." He said to her calmly. The rest of the lecture was torture. Zara pretended she was paying attention to the Professor and took down notes she couldn't read. Alex sat like a stone statue beside her, his presence a constant, brooding weight. He didn't speak to her again, but every time she shifted, his eyes followed. When the bell finally ra
Botany 401 was a large, tiered classroom with old wooden desks and blackboards that was covered in chalk dust. It was usually a quiet class, filled with students who preferred plants to people.Today, the energy was different though. The air was restless.Zara took her usual seat- middle row, far left, near the emergency exit. She pulled out her notebook and her pen, arranging them with meticulous precision. She kept her head down, and her aura pulled in tight.Nothing to see here. Just a girl and her plants. Professor Halloway, a kind old man who smelled of peat moss, walked in and clapped his hands."Settle down, everyone. Settle down. Today we are discussing the Atropa Belladonna and its uses in modern pharmacology. But first..." He started saying then stopped talking, he looked nervous. He adjusted his glasses. "We have a ermmm... a guest auditor today." He continued to say.Zara's pen snapped in half in her hand. The ink exploded over her fingers.No."Mr. Smith has expressed a k
Alex stood still on the same spot, letting her run away. He turned, watching her sprint up the stairs, her sneakers squeaking on the metal. He brought his hand up to his nose, inhaling deeply where he had touched her skin. Faint. So faint that it was almost like a hallucination. Beneath the smell of dust and old paper, for just a fraction of a second, there had been a scent…Moonflowers and Ozone. It was the most intoxicating thing he had ever smelled. And it was gone in an instant, like he had dreamt it. A dark passive grin spread across Alex’s face. The beast inside him stopped pacing up and down, and sat down, staring at the empty stairs with anticipation too. ‘Run, little rabbit, run’, Alex whispered into air in the empty room. ‘Run as fast as you can. It would only make the chase more fun’. He concluded, saying out loud while grinning widely. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed his head of security. ‘Sir?’ the voice crackled. ‘Cancel my flight home’, Alex said,
Thud. The sound of the heavy basement door closing at the top of the stairs echoed down the metal staircase. Zara instantly froze. Silence then followed. But it wasn’t an empty silence though. It was the heavy, pregnant silence of a predator entering a cave. The air pressure in the basement shifted.Step.Step.Step.Slow, deliberate footfalls on the metal stairs. They were heavy and confident. The sound of expensive leather shoes descending into her world. Zara didn’t wait. She ducked low, scurrying to the far end of the aisle. She made herself small, pressing her back against the cold metal of the furthest shelf, hidden in the shadows. She held her breath, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. She heard him reach the bottom of the stairs and paused. He was listening. Zara forced her heart rate to slow down. It was a technique her mother had taught her before the slaughter. ‘Be the stone, Zara. Stones have no heartbeat. Stones have no fear.’‘You are good’, she
Sasha’s POV:"What's going on?" I repeated myself. Damien just stood there hugging and sniffing me. Naked. "Can someone please get my mate here some shorts?" Ethan nodded. "It's not like you haven't seen me naked before love," he whispered in my ears, causing me to shiver in delight. "Well, I don't
Sasha’s POV:'Everyone go to your room or the safe house now. I need warriors and some guards at the pack house NOW!' I heard Damien say through the mind link. What the heck is going on? I tried to mind link him, but he blocked everyone out, including me. "Hey, you think everything is okay," I aske
Damien’s POV:After Sasha and the girls had left with Ethan, who was to ensure their safety, I went back to my office.I decided to get some more work done, being the Alpha Prime, means I have to do some other work relating to other packs as well outside my own pack responsibility. As I was doing th
Damien's POV:"Let me take over Damien,” my wolf Knight said. “What?, so that only you can have all the fun?” I asked. “Fine,”I continued. Knight took over and went straight to attacking mode. Killing one rogue in a matter of seconds. Then another. More rogues began to emerge from behind the trees.
