[Temporal correction program activated.]

[Host Alexander William Windsor detected outside original timeline.]

[System will forcibly correct temporal error in 72 hours.]

[Countdown: 71:59:59.]

One hour until the wedding.

And less than three days until I leave this era behind.

I sat in front of the dressing room mirror, phone screen still open to the gallery.

Every photo was of me and Evelyn Carter.

When I first arrived in this era ten years ago, I didn't even know what those little glowing screens everyone carried around were.

I came from London—a city of steam, carriages, and crowns. My London.

Back there, they called me Prince Alexander William Windsor.

First in line to the British throne. The future king of the empire.

In that world of steam, horse-drawn carriages, and crowns, a single word from me could keep all of London's high society up at night.

One accident threw me ten years into the future.

It took me a full decade to learn how to use phones and the internet—to adapt to this world.

And here, I met Evelyn.

Once, I thought maybe staying here wouldn't be so bad.

Until half an hour ago, when she sent me a message.

[Alex, I'm sorry.]

[Ryan might not have much time left.]

[His only wish, before he goes, is to have a wedding with me.]

[It's just a ceremony. After it's over, I'll still marry you.]

[You understand... don't you?]

Three days ago, I might have been furious. Demanded answers.

I planned everything for this wedding—the venue, the rings, the guests, the vows!

But now, I just calmly turned off my phone.

Because I only have seventy-two hours.

The system told me that once temporal correction starts, it can't be stopped.

Seventy-two hours from now, I'll leave this world for good—return to the day I disappeared.

My family. My enemies. My business. All the people who once served me. They're all waiting there.

And I need to use every last second to absorb everything I can about this era's technology, finance, and politics.

Compared to that—a wedding stolen by someone else? It means nothing.

"Alex?"

The makeup artist pushed the door open.

"You ready?"

I adjusted my cuffs. The man in the mirror wore a black tuxedo, ten years older than before—less sharp around the edges, more composed.

No one knew that the man about to be abandoned by his bride was once the crown prince standing at the center of London's royal power.

One word from me used to keep the entire British upper class awake all night.

"Ready."

I pushed the door open. At the end of the hallway, Evelyn stood in her white wedding gown.

She was beautiful. But beside her stood another man.

Ryan Bennett.

Evelyn's childhood friend. And the third person who'd always stood between us.

Ryan's face was pale, dressed in a tuxedo identical to mine.

"Alex, I'm sorry."

He put on a guilty look. "I know today was supposed to be yours."

I looked at him. "It's fine."

Ryan and Evelyn both froze.

I continued: "The wedding arrangements are all set. Just go ahead with it as planned."

The silence hit like a wall.

Evelyn stared at me. "You... really mean that?"

"Why wouldn't I?" I smiled. "Didn't you say this was his last wish?"

Ryan's eyes flickered with triumph, though he dropped his head in fake guilt.

"Alex, I know this stings. You don't have to force yourself."

Then he coughed—deliberately.

Evelyn immediately reached for him, then turned to me.

"Alex, what are you trying to do?"

"Nothing."

"Then why are you suddenly being so reasonable?"

As if my calm was somehow the problem.

Ryan let out a soft sigh. "Forget it, Evelyn. Alex probably wouldn't actually leave, right?"

He looked at me, a knowing smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

"After all, in this era, who else does he have besides you?"

Evelyn's expression finally relaxed.

Yeah. Everyone knew. I had no family. No past.

After showing up in this world out of nowhere ten years ago, Evelyn became my only anchor.

I slipped the ring off my finger and pressed it into her palm. Then I glanced down at the countdown only I could see.

[69:43:17]

I turned and walked away.

Behind me, Evelyn's voice: "Alex!"

I stepped out of the banquet hall and onto the busy street, swallowed by the crowd.

When I first met Evelyn, I thought this could be my home.

Only now do I realize—the place I truly want to go back to never changed.

The Crown.

One last look back at the wedding venue. Then I turned away.

My return had already begun counting down.

  • The Prince She Cast Aside   Chapter 10

Another rainy afternoon in London. Evelyn found herself alone, standing in the small Italian town they'd once planned to visit together countless times. She wore the long dress Alexander had once said looked lovely on her. She walked the cobblestone streets they'd only ever seen in photographs.Old stone walls were draped in ivy. Church bells tolled softly in the distance. Couples passed by hand in hand, their smiles easy and ordinary.Evelyn stopped and looked up at the cathedral spire ahead—and tears slid silently down her cheeks. She found a café by the canal, ordered his favorite Earl Grey, and sat by the window, watching the rain fall onto the water in soft, spreading ripples—like the restlessness inside her that wouldn't settle. She whispered to herself: "Alex, you said this place was beautiful. Like your London. Old. Quiet. Worth spending a lifetime wandering through.""You said you wanted to bring me here for the sunsets. To see the cathedral's rose windows. To browse the handm

Evelyn's mind went cold as the realization hit her—she had never once seen Ryan's complete medical records. The so-called cancer diagnosis was just something he'd told her. Those so-called test results—she'd never actually laid eyes on them. And all through their trip, Ryan's body barely seemed like that of a "terminal patient." He ate normally. Drank normally. Walked for hours without issue. But Alex—that man had known he was about to leave—and on his wedding day, he still packed her bags, arranged everything for her, never even called her out on her final choice.Evelyn's face turned cold. "Ryan."She let go of his arm, her voice dropping to something dangerous. "Your illness... is it even real?"Ryan's pupils shrank. "What are you saying? You're accusing me?""I'm asking you—do you actually have cancer?"The silence was suffocating. Then, slowly—the weakness in Ryan's expression melted away. He stared at Evelyn, and finally let out a cold laugh. "It's fake."Two words. Evelyn froze

  • The Prince She Cast Aside   Chapter 8

That night, Evelyn didn't sleep a single hour.At first light, she booked the earliest flight back from Italy to the States. The whole way, she told herself Alex was just angry—that he wanted her to realize her mistake. He'd probably still be at home waiting. Maybe if she apologized, everything could go back to how it was.But the moment she opened the front door, her last shred of hope shattered. The house was pitch black. Deathly quiet. She flipped on the lights—living room, kitchen, bedroom—every corner was eerily clean, as if someone had carefully erased every trace of themselves before leaving. The guest room bed was made perfectly. Alex's clothes, books, belongings—all gone. She rushed to the study and found it just as empty. The modern books, historical records, finance and industry notes he'd collected over ten years—all vanished. Nothing but bare shelves.Evelyn stood there, a chill crawling up her spine. She started tearing through everything.Closets, drawers, desks, storage

Her hands trembling, she opened the photo album on her phone and scrolled through ten years of photos they'd taken together. In every picture, she was always smiling brightly—and Alex was almost always right beside her.Shopping with her. Riding the subway with her. Eating meals with her. Celebrating her birthdays. She'd never noticed before. In every single photo, Alex's eyes were fixed on her.It was a kind of tenderness so constant, so familiar, that she'd never once stopped to really see it.Then she remembered—ten years ago, the first time she met him.A young man in an ill-fitting vintage suit, standing lost on a modern London street, not even knowing how to use a phone. He told her then that he came from another time. She didn't believe him.Later, he told her he'd once been royalty—a crown prince who'd vanished ten years before. She still didn't believe him.She thought it was just a story a homeless man made up so he could stay.So she took his care for granted. She took his c

  • The Prince She Cast Aside   Chapter 6

A thousand miles away in Italy, Evelyn stood before the floor-to-ceiling window of her seaside hotel room.Outside lay ancient cobblestone streets, cathedral spires, and horse-drawn carriages drifting past—the whole city bathed in golden sunset light. The wine in her hand had long gone cold. And somewhere in her chest, a hollow ache had settled. This was a place Alexander had talked about endlessly. That man who always leaned close when he spoke of his homeland—he'd told her more than once that above all else, he wanted to bring her to Europe. He said that though he was born into royalty, he'd never truly seen the world as an ordinary man. He wanted to walk through the ruins of Rome with her. Gaze at Florence's art. Spend lazy days along Venice's canals.Back then, she'd smiled and promised him: "After we're married—we'll go together."Now she was finally here. And the person beside her was Ryan."Evelyn, why are you standing there spacing out?" Ryan walked over with his glass, smiling

Light engulfed me—and in an instant, the modern American skyline, the streets, the honking cars all peeled away. Even Evelyn's cold, distant face was swallowed whole by endless white. Then came the clip-clop of hooves. The hiss of steam engines. Carriage wheels grinding over cobblestones. And from somewhere in the distance—the layered chorus of London street vendors calling out their wares.I opened my eyes slowly, taking in every tiny shift in my surroundings.Beneath my feet was not cold modern flooring. It was familiar cobblestone. The air carried London's signature dampness, laced with coal smoke. Traditional buildings lined both sides of the street. Black carriages rushed past. Gentlemen in top hats strode briskly by. And at the corner, the royal standard fluttered in the breeze.I looked down at myself. The black modern suit was gone. Replaced by a dark royal dress coat, the insignia of the crown prince pinned across my chest.I stood there as if I'd never left.[System Update: T
