You are not strange

The morning sun began to show its light in the sky. Shining brightly illuminates a part of the earth, awakening Her creatures from their long slumber.

A girl with brown hair had just woken up from a deep sleep. She sat on the edge of the bed, gathering her consciousness that had disappeared when she fell asleep. Apparently, her eyes were still blinking, trying to focus the light that entered her eyes. After her consciousness had gathered, she stood up to take the towel hanging from the hanger beside her door, stepped foot steps into the bathroom to clean herself.

After a while, she came out and walked towards the closet. She opened the two wooden wardrobe doors, looking for clothes that fit her. She took a short-sleeved pink shirt, a knee-length skirt of the same color, and blazer colored cream. After that she put a little make-up on her thin face and carried a black sling bag.

When everything was ready, she immediately went down to the ground floor of her house, stepped into the kitchen for breakfast.

"Morning, Mom, Dad!" said Henzie sitting herself in the chair.

"Morning," Mom and Dad replied in unison.

"Mom, is there anything Henzie can do to help?" She asked.

"Yes! Mom, please cut these vegetables," answered her mother.

"Okay, mother!" cried the girl-Henzie. Quickly, she went straight to the refrigerator and took some of the vegetables that were in it. After that Henzie washed all the vegetables and cut them into small pieces.

All breakfasts have been made. Henzie, Mother, and also her father sat together while eating their respective food that had been prepared on the dining table.

"Henzie, I noticed you look very excited today. What's the reason?" An aged man who is none other than Henzie's father, broke the silence in the dining room by asking his only child.

Henzie, who was eating her food, suddenly choked. Her mother, who was worried, immediately handed Henzie a glass of water. Henzie took it and drank it quickly.

"N-no, Henzie is normal today," Henzie replied.

"You're lying, aren't you?" said her mother, interrogating Henzie.

"No! Henzie isn't lying."

"Really? But how come yesterday I saw you being escorted by a man. Who is he?" Her mother teased Henzie, who was now lowering her face in shame.

"He-he's just my friend." Henzie was getting nervous.

"Friends? As far as Mom knows, you've never had a male friend since you grew up. When did you become friends with him?" Now her mother looks at Henzie while raising and lowering her eyebrows.

"Mother!" Henzie shouted annoyed at her mother who always tried to tease her.

"Hahahaha ... yes-yes, I won't tease you anymore," replied her mother with a small laugh.

Henzie looked down again, hiding her still flushed face. Then they returned to continue eating quietly.

While they were busy eating, suddenly there was a knock on the door, distracting the little family.

"Who is that?" asked Henzie's mother, then got up and went to open the door.

After the door opened, a man with a well-proportioned body, white hair, and a handsome face was standing right in front of the Van family residence. The man smiled sweetly at Mrs. Henzie.

"Sorry, I'm Henzie's friend. Is there Henzie?" The man asked politely.

"Oh, you're the man yesterday who drove my daugther home?"

"Yes, Auntie."

"Okay, wait a minute. Auntie will get Henzie for you." Henzie's mother stepped back into the dining room, approaching her husband and daughter.

"Who, Mom?" Henzie asked as she watched her mother return to the dining room.

"The man who drove you yesterday. He was looking for you," explained the mother, which suddenly made Henzie stand up and run to her front door, leaving two parents who smiled warmly at their child.

"Kids these days are really cute, aren't they?" One of them spoke.

"Yes, I remember when we were young, my husband," said another.

"Kevin!" Henzie called, approaching the white-haired man who was leaning casually against the wall of his house. The man turned when he heard Henzie's voice.

"Sorry, make you wait."

"No problem, let's go." Kevin started to walk out of Henzie's yard towards his car, while Henzie followed the man from behind.

In the middle of the journey there was only silence that enveloped Henzie and Kevin. A sense of mutual awkwardness haunted them so that neither dared to start a conversation.

"Erm... Kevin, where's your house?" Henzie asked, trying to start the conversation.

"Why are you suddenly asking at my house?" Kevin asked Henzie back. He glanced at the girl for a moment then focused back on the road.

"I-I'm h-just curious," Henzie stammered. ‘Henzie ! Why are you suddenly asking about his house?!’ Henzie cursed in her heart.

"My house is not too far from yours," Kevin said without taking his eyes off the road.

Henzie nodded awkwardly. "D-are you really not feeling the burden of dropping me off like this?" Henzie asked again.

Brakes!

Henzie was surprised because Kevin suddenly stopped the car. She looked down at the street and saw that the traffic light was red. Fortunately, her mouth had not had time to utter angry words at Kevin who stopped his car without warning.

"I told you no, I don't feel burdened by this at all." Kevin spoke, causing Henzie to turn her head to the man.

"Really?" Henzie asked again.

Swoosh!

With a quick movement, Kevin looked at Henzie and closed their distance. "Why do you seem unsure of me?"

"N-not like that!" The surprised Henzie reflexively pushed Kevin's body away from her. She turned her gaze out of the car while touching her chest which suddenly beat abnormally.

"I-I just don't want you to think of me as a strange girl. I easily followed your offer without thinking," explained Henzie without taking her eyes off the other side.

"I offered you, so don't ever think you're weird. You're not weird in my eyes at all."

Thump!

Henzie glanced back at Kevin, who seemed focused on driving his car back. Henzie smiled a little.

After that, there was no more discussion between them. Kevin, who was focused on driving and Henzie, who always looked out of the car, didn't speak to each other anymore. Until they arrived at Valery University, the campus where they both studied.
