|Princess Zoey's Point Of View|
As soon as I turned eighteen, my parents held a grand ceremony and introduced me to Prince Patrick, the future ruler of Kingdom Neopatras, for marriage. It was stupid. I wasn't happy at all. I didn't encourage their idea of an arranged marriage with a total stranger. Yet, it was supposed to happen one way or another.
Upon my tantrums, my parents agreed to delay the official deals of the wedding from one year so that time would let us get to know each other. Still, I stubbornly avoided Prince Patrick at all costs. Mostly because he was way older than me, and I saw him as an old man. Prince Patrick was twenty-four while I was only eighteen!
For many people, it won't be a huge age gap, but for me. I disliked being with someone whose way older than me because I didn't want to be treated like I was inexperienced and childish. So I was cold toward Prince Patrick at first.
But luckily, he was patient with me, just like he should be. And in no time, I was comfortable with him and fell for him. I realised he was a charming, kind and patient man who was just my type.
So right now, my friend, Duchess Winter, is being annoying as hell, making fun of my lover!
"Don't call him old! I know I called him old, many times before, but now, he isn't old." I scold her.
"I see. Just~ I cannot bear seeing you getting married to an old fossil," she says, taking a sip from her drink.
"Fossil!? He's not a fossil! Could you please stop insulting the person I love?" I complain.
"Okay, okay. It seems my friend is seriously in love~ So~? Do you feel butterflies in your stomach, and does your heart skip beats when you see him~? And you go all ooey-gooey~ Lost of words~?" she flutters her eyelashes, obviously making fun of me.
"Ugh. I don't feel those butterflies and heart skipping beats. And if those happen to me, I won't be here but in the medical wing getting treated before I die." I roll my eyes at her
"What an idiot..."
"You are the idiot!"
"Which I am. I never disagreed with that!" she agrees.
Jeez, spending time with her will only reduce the number of cells in my brain. I sip on my lemon mocktail as I swing my legs at the delightful taste of it. I keep the glass aside when I hear the sound of a horse. I quickly stand up and run to the closest window. I look out of it to catch a glimpse of the person arriving, and just as I assumed, it is Prince Patrick on his white horse. My Prince in shining armour~
I giggle and quickly run toward the stairway. As I am about to go downstairs, I hear Winter's annoyed voice complaining about me leaving her. But I ignore her and almost fly downstairs and leave from the entrance of the palace doors, past the guards to welcome Prince Patrick.
He gets down from his snowy white horse, but he doesn't see me. Instead, he rebalances the sword on his back (hip) and gives a gentle pat to his horse. A guard comes and takes the horse from there, and finally, he sees me.
I smile like a big fool when he walks toward me. He gently takes my hand and kisses my knuckles, his lips leaving a trace of affection.
"Why did you leave in the morning? I was looking for you." I break our eyecontact and ask about how he suddenly disappeared in the morning after we had breakfast.
"I had an important meeting to attend, love. Unlike you, I don't have a lot of free time a day," he replies. I give him a displeased look in return. Well, yeah, I completely stopped doing my duties as soon as my parents came up with the arranged marriage idea when I got to know that I wouldn't be the ruler of my kingdom but Prince Patrick. So as I am free, I use my spare time with nature which I love and enjoy.
"Don't make it sound like I am a useless person," I say. "Since you are taking over, what is left for me, huh? It is quite a joke how I learned my whole life to be the ruler of my kingdom when in history, there hasn't been a single female Omega Queen. And now, you are taking everything from me." I childishly complain.
In fact, he and I both know that I dislike giving him my kingdom. Yes, I love him. But I really would love to rule my kingdom alone as well. Sometimes I wish I was an alpha so I could be the next ruler. But at least it's fine because my kingdom will be in safe hands with him.
"I am yet to take everything from you, ain't I?" Prince Patrick says.
I instantly blush at his words and look away.
"A-anyways." I bite my lower lip. "Uh... I wanted to tell you that... my monthly heat starts today, so we won't be able to see each other for a while."
"Oh. Good luck with it, babe. Take care, alright?" he lovingly asks. I nod and smile in return. Isn't he the sweetest!
"I-I'll be going then," I say, as I will have to go inside soon before it starts.

-Four Days Later-
When I open my eyes, I realise my heat is almost over. The stench of my own scent gets thicker in the air as I shuffle away from my blankets. I walk to the door and partially open it, and call out for a maid. I ask her to prepare my clothes as I leave to take a shower.
Once I am done with the shower, I come outside wearing a towel around my body. I see my room clean from top to bottom, without a single flaw. Even the bedsheets are replaced with new ones, and the curtains are drawn back, letting the sunlight in.
My usual maids are standing by my bed, ready to prepare me for the day.
"Are you planning to go out, my Princess?" Pamela, one of the maids. asks as she neatens my top. The other maid comes to me with my robe, and I let my hands slide through the armholes. She wraps it around my body and ties the royal belt around my waist. Then I get into my dress.
"Yeah. It's been four days already." I reply.
"But you are still emitting a little bit of heat pheromones, Princess... No offence, but it'll be safer for your highness to stay in for a few more hours. Prince Patrick isn't here as well."
"No can do." I stubbornly say. "I am going out for a walk."
|Micah's Point Of View|When morning arrives, my mother wakes me up, and I know it is time to get the freshly baked goods to the palace as her knee pain doesn't let her move around. Though it is my first time going to the palace after years of spending my time in the village, I know that I've to do that for her—only this time.Sigh. But how much I hate that place... not because I disliked the King and Queen but the noblemen... I hate those creatures so much... They look down on us like we are some pieces of shit that don't even deserve to be under their feet. Can't they see that we are human too?I neatly stack the last box of bread in the cart. The horse tied to the front stomps its feet as if it is impatient for the journey. Our neighbour, who let us borrow the horse only for today, pokes out his head to see if all are good. I give him a thumbs up and get on to the front of the cart, so I can lead it out of the village to the town and then to the palace, which will be around two to
|Prince Patrick's Point Of View|I hum a song as I go through my collection of robes."Prince Patrick!" one of my maids barges into my room."Yeah? Is it right to barge in like an idiot?" I scold her."I-I am sorry, but, your highness, I have some news for you," she says, breaking into a sweat. I cock my eyebrows in return, asking her to go on. "Just a few minutes ago, Princess Zoey was attacked on the palace grounds!" she breaks the news."What? You mean someone tried to hurt him?" I ask in panic."No. It doesn't seem that way, but I don't know much. My Queen asked to inform you and to escort you to the stable so you can leave for Kingdom Euthoria immediately," she breathlessly says."What the hell happened..." I mutter to myself. "Okay. Get the horse ready. I will be out." I say, dismissing her. When I go to the stables, I find my horse all ready for the journey. I pat its back and get on. It blows its nose, so I comb its hair to calm it down. After it has calmed down, I lead it dow
|Queen's Point Of View|"Did you send the soldiers to get his parents?" I ask my husband."I did. They will be here soon. But it's still a question, why on earth you don't want me to kill that bustard? He did enough damage for us, to the royal family and to the whole kingdom!" he exclaims. "Our Zoey was supposed to get decently married to that kid, Patrick. Now it's all crushed! No one would accept a marked omega! What do I do with my kingdom when there's no alpha successor?!" he is breathing heavily by the time he's done talking."Calm down, love. First, I am not sure what awaits us in the future. Second, we should be keen now. We shouldn't let anger take the maximum of us. I am sure the news has already reached every corner of the kingdom. There's nothing we can do about it. We will talk with that alpha's parents, and to answer your question, I didn't want to kill him... him... our daughter's mate." I calmly explain though it hurt me inside. I've been crying for hours till now, but
|Micah's Point Of View|It feels like I've been in the cell forever. The lump that has formed at the back of my throat never leaves, and the guilt in the pit of my stomach keeps on eating me whole. The guard who lashed at me is outside my cell, guarding as if his life depends on it. And I am not complaining. What the hell did I even do... I marked the Princess of my kingdom, and... it feels so unreal.I know I've fucked up.The royals will, at any time, order someone to kill me. They won't spare me... but I hope they won't harm my parents. They don't have to do anything about my silly act. They are innocent.I hear a door open, the creak of it and the sound of it scraping against the stone ground. I feel a dreadfulness taking over me, wondering who it might be. It might be the person who's going to decide whether I live or not-- but I only see the dejected faces of my parents in my eyesight."King and Queen allowed his parents to meet him." a new guard says to the guard who's been kil
NEXT DAY |Princess Zoey's Point Of View| The silence in my room remains as it is. No one dares to speak a word, but their gazes linger on me. I clench and unclench my hands in order to not to freak out, but it seems in vain. The doors open, and my mother arrives in a hurry. She sees that I am awake and smiles softly. She walks to my bed as I look at her through my tired eyes, silently asking how on earth she's smiling when I am like this. "I am happy you are okay. You were unconscious for one day, but it turns out you were only sleeping in exhaustion." she soothingly says, trying to caress my hair, but I slap her hand away, much to everyone's surprise. "Don't act all sweet like everything's in order. Nothing is right." I say. "I-I know, sweetheart. But be grateful for your good health. We can slowly talk about this." she assures. "What did Prince Patrick say? Does he know that I got marked by a stray?" I ask. Mother sadly nods, and I look away. The worse has happened. What migh
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View|"I- I know it's unfortunate, but we can be like before! This is just a mark-" I try to explain, reaching out to him, but Prince Patrick slaps my hands away, his eyes burning in rage. I've never seen him like this before. Isn't this all because of that commoner..."How do you expect me to be with you when another alpha has claimed you? Are you dumb or something? Zoey! You are a marked person now! I can't simply ignore that fact and be with you!" he explains. The tone of his voice he used for me hurt me. I can't believe it."I am sorry if I said something wrong, but this can't be undone! That's why I am saying this." I exclaim, tears threatening to leave my eyes."Well, what happened, happened, didn't it? And I won't have to pretend anymore," he says."What pretend?" I ask in confusion."That I am in love with you. That I care for you." he sighs. "It wasn't hard at all to pursue you and get you to fall for me. You were too easy. Do you think I love you? I
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View|I immediately stand up when I see Prince Patrick. He bows his head in respect and glances at me with his infamous smirk, which I never saw during the period we dated. And seeing him in front of me, not even the slightest bothered by the breakup and remembering the lies he has told my parents... it makes my blood boil."Are you going now, honey?" my mother asks me, looking at my half-touched plate."Yes, mother. I think I better go now." I say, looking straight into Prince Patrick's eyes."I'll ask a guard to escort you down there," she says."No need. I will ask myself."I leave my food and walk past Prince Patrick without sparing a glance at him. But before I leave the dining room, I hear his voice ask my parents where I am going. Like he cares! Self-pretentious bitch! Aaa!It is pretty surprising, indeed, how I used to love him so much, but now I am loathing after him. But still, a small part of my mind doesn't want me to hate him...I walk down a cor
|Princess Zoey's Point Of View| I play with the two rings in my hands. One is slightly bigger than the other, and I curiously put the smaller one on my right hand's middle finger. It fits perfectly. So I let it stay there. I realise my scent is slowly fading away. The ring is working well. That is when I hear a little shuffling sound from the cell and take a sharp turn to look behind me. I spot that the peasant has moved a bit, just enough for the light to reach his face, and now I can finally see how he looks. ...I thought commoners were ugly, that they looked tired and plain. But the person in front of me is far from plain. Without realising it, I am looking at his face, observing his features, wondering how a mere peasant like him has developed such features. There are wounds and cuts scattered everywhere on his face, but still– I flinch when he stirs in his sleep, and his eyes open slowly. But his attention is on the hay beneath him. I make no sound but compose myself to look
