Jessie cleared her throat, walked over to a chair, and sat down. She took a couple more bites of bread, sipped some water, and asked Jack, "You still haven't answered my question from yesterday."

"Why don't you first ask him if he's even willing to meet you? If I just rush in and look for him, what if I offend him?"

Jack leaned back on the sofa. He spoke with a straight face.
