AYLA

The wind was cold as we rode in the street between the forest. Damon and Riven sat in front as Riven drove. Myself and Silvia stayed in the back.

Despite the impending danger, I couldn't help but feel delighted. I'm finally going to get the truth about my powers, the prophecy. All of it.

“Are we close?” Damon asked, I sighed and moved forward, looking at the road.

“A few kilometers and we stop,” Riven nodded and increased his speed.

I rested my body back and looked at Silvia, she looked uncomfortable. Just like she did before when Damon spoke earlier.

“Do both need a moment alone because I can make myself and Riven give you guys some privacy,” I whispered to her.

“That's not necessary,” She looked away quickly, pretending to check her weapon. But I saw the sadness in her eyes. And something else, regret.

“Okay,” I said softly, not pushing further.

The rest of the ride was quiet. Only the sound of the wind and the steady hum of the vehicle filled the air. My thoughts kept drift

AYLAThe silence between us continued. Only the sounds of the rain dropping could be heard between us. The blood on her seems to have been washed away by the rain and I could see her eyes just as clearly as I could see her hair.“Ayla, I can explain,” she said, stepping toward me.I crawled back toward the rear of the car, my back hitting the cold metal. My hands shook.“You lied to me,” I whispered. “This whole time… you were one of them?”Her face twisted with pain. “No. Not like them. I’m not like Slade. Or the others. I’ve been hiding it my whole life.”“Why?” My voice cracked. “Why hide something like that?”“Because it’s dangerous. People don’t trust Lycans, not even in the packs. If anyone knew what I was…” She looked away. “Asher would’ve used me. Or worse—killed me.”I hugged my knees, trying to breathe. My heart wouldn’t slow down.I got up, and she was standing at the opposite side of the car. “Where are you from?” I asked her.“I don't know,” she dropped her hands to her

AYLAAfter a sleepless night, we hit the road again. The journey to Dustspire seem to be further than Ivy had described.“If I remember correctly you said one hour last time I asked how far we were,” I said to her.She looks at me with a smirk on her face. “Haven't you been on a long journey before? The driver always lies,” she said and I laughed a little.“I would know but I haven't been on a long journey before,” I said and sighed heavily. “Except we count the moment Slade brought me to Mercia after buying me from Asher.”“I'm sorry I wasn't able to do anything then,” she said to me.“What?” I scoffed. “You put a lot of pressure on yourself. There is nothing you could have done,” I said to her. “Asher would have imprisoned you and you wouldn't be here right now, helping me find out who I am with all these powers,” I said looking at my palms.I looked down at my hands again, turning them slowly.“I still don’t understand them,” I whispered. “Sometimes they tingle, or burn, or glow.

  • The Promised Luna   Chapter 48!When Slade comes looking!

AYLAI placed my hands on the top of the car door as Ivy drove us out of Mercia's territory. I have never felt so free and relieved. I don't know if we will be caught before we get to our destination but this feeling isn't something I want to do without.“I don't think we are being followed,” Ivy said, looking through the rear mirror. I turned around and looked behind us as well.“Good, that means Silvia did her part by keeping them busy,” I said and turned around.“She will be in a lot of trouble for this,” Ivy said and I sighed.“Yes, she will. But it was her decision, this plan was her idea,” I said.“Really,” Ivy took a swift left turn. “So you wanted to stay after he betrayed you.”“I don't know what I want,” I said, looking through the massive number of trees we pass through.“I was hurt when I heard those words from Slade. It felt like a blade went through my heart. I….”“Wait,” Ivy cuts me off. “You are in love with him,” she said and I looked at her.“I'm not,” I defended my

DAMONI looked at Slade, my friend, my King. Wondering if I was part of this miserable life he has begun for himself.I didn't mean to scare Ayla or make her feel worthless. She just needed to know the consequences if she plans on betraying Mercia.“So you never planned on telling her anything,” I said and he nodded.“It was all part of the plan my mother created,” he said.“The queen was a part of this?” I was shocked. “You should have told me,” I said.“And risk you revealing it to her. You are not the best when you are angry,” he said and I sighed.“This is a bad move, Slade,” I said to him. “If she finds out you betrayed her….”“She won't,” he said, cutting me off.“If she finds out,” I insisted. “We might lose her to someone else and she will be against us.”I paced the room, frustrated.“She’s not like the former Luna,” I said. “You keep comparing them, but they’re not the same.”Slade didn’t answer. He just stared at the flames in the fireplace, like they had all the answers h

  • The Promised Luna   Chapter 46!Working me as an asset!

AYLA“Take the prisoner away,” Damon ordered the guards as soon as we reached the gates of the Lycan stronghold. Two soldiers came forward and grabbed the rogue leader. He didn’t fight back. He only looked at me with that same twisted grin, as if he knew something none of us did. I forced myself to look away.Damon walked toward Slade, who stood tall at the top of the stone stairs. Without a word, Damon bowed low and kissed the back of Slade’s hand, a formal greeting in any royal setting tradition, but this is the Lycan's. Then he turned and bowed to the queen, who stood beside her son like a carved statue, proud and silent.Riven and Silvia followed, showing the same respect. I stayed back for a second, suddenly unsure of what I was supposed to do. I wasn’t a Lycan. I wasn’t anything official. But I stepped forward anyway.Slade’s eyes found mine, searching, waiting.I bowed my head, not knowing if I was doing it right. “Your Highness,” I said quietly. The queen studied me with sharp

  • The Promised Luna   Chapter 45!The forest responded!

AYLAThey stepped out of the trees like phantoms, lean, silent, fast. Their eyes glowed faintly in the dim forest light, and I counted at least ten before I stopped trying. More were hiding in the dark, I could feel it.Damon immediately took position in front of us, one hand gripping the dagger at his waist. “Weapons out. Don’t shift unless you have to.”Ivy pressed close to me, breath shallow. Silvia pulled her blade, her fingers steady despite the growing threat. Riven didn’t move at all, he was already coiled like a spring, eyes locked on the shadows ahead.“Why are they here?” I whispered. No one answered. The rogues moved in tighter, their leader finally revealing himself. He was taller than the others, his face scarred and his hair matted with dirt. His voice, when he spoke, was low and gravelly.“You shouldn’t have come back, Stormbringer.”My heart dropped. He knew who I was.“How do you know my name?” I asked, stepping forward. He bared yellowed teeth in a smile. “We remembe

  • The Promised Luna   Chapter 44!The silence of broken things!

AYLAThe morning sun had barely risen when we gathered at the edge of the village. The air was cold and still. No one spoke. Not even Silvia.I checked my pack again, making sure the scroll was hidden safely inside. My fingers brushed over it, and for a moment, I felt a pulse, like the scroll was alive. It made my skin tingle, but I said nothing.“We move fast,” Damon said, breaking the silence. “No stops. No delays.”Silvia rolled her eyes behind him, but she didn’t argue.Riven stood a little away from the rest of us, arms crossed. He didn’t look at me. I didn’t look at him either.Ivy joined last, her face tight. She kept her eyes on the ground. We walked in silence for hours, the forest growing thicker around us. Twisted trees and strange shadows followed our path. The land near Ashgrove always felt… wrong.“This place gives me the creeps,” Ivy finally said, her voice low.“It’s cursed,” Silvia muttered. “What did you expect? Sunshine and flowers?”Damon gave her a look, but she i

AYLAI sighed and rubbed off the sweat already gathering on my forehead.“What exactly are you doing, Damon?” I asked him again.“We are here under King's Slade's order and we will obey,” he said and I scoffed.“People are dying here and if there is something I can do to help, then I'm helping,” I tried to move towards the door but he stood in the way.“I wish I could say, I feel their plight but I don't,” he said and I scoffed. “If a curse was cast upon this land because of their Alpha, then there is nothing you can do.”“No, there is something I can do. I can help lift the curse,” I said to him.“Didn't you hear her,” he pointed at Ivy. “This is only happening because Asher sold you in an auction. You are supposed to be his mate. Now, you tell me what that means for King Slade,” he said.I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry.“What are you saying, Damon?” I asked quietly.“I’m saying this prophecy changes everything,” he said, voice low but firm. “If you were meant to be Asher’s

AYLAI didn’t expect to see Ivy. Not here. Not now.But there she stood in the doorway, breathing hard, dust on her clothes, her eyes wide with shock and something else, hope.“Ivy,” I whispered. She gave me a shaky smile. “You came… just like the prophecy said.”Everyone froze. Riven’s body still blocked me from the door. Damon hadn’t lowered his blade yet. Silvia stood with her knife half-raised, eyes sharp and questioning.“Who is she, Ayla?” Damon asked with his knife still against her throat.“Let her go, Damon. She is a friend. We can trust her,” he let her go and she rushed to hug me.“I can't believe you are here,” she said, almost in tears. “I'm so sorry for everything that happened to you.”I nodded. “It wasn't your fault, but what are you talking about?” I asked her. “What prophecy?”Ivy looked around like the walls might have ears. “It’s not safe to say too much here,” she whispered. “But you need to know, things in the Moonlit Pack are worse than you think. The curse is
