Chapter 13- What Else Should I Know?

It was the sound of Leo’s monitor alarming that pulled Amberleigh and Grayson from their moment. They pulled apart quickly, neither of them said a word, but both had fear in their hearts over what it could mean. They both sprinted out of the bathroom and towards Leo’s side as swiftly as possible with Grayson’s still trembling body. Amber helped steady him, but her own heart was anything but steady in her chest.

Terrified of what she would find, Amber bit her lip until the tang of blood filled her mouth as she entered the makeshift operating room. Beside her, Grayson was panting again, those harsh breaths which almost sounded painful. Leo was moving on the stretcher, his body bucking upwards, his hands going towards the tube down his throat, while Cori was trying to push some medication through his IV. The ventilator was alarming loudly.

“What’s going on?” asked Grayson.
