Shocking news

Carolina alighted the bus and let out a sigh. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. The golden ball shone in the bright blue sky illuminating the earth. It was a beautiful day and she had been having fun with her friends until…

'Why did father call for me?' She wondered as she walked down the road leading to their house.

Different thoughts coursed through her mind but none prepared her for what was coming. Soon, Carolina was strolling into their rented apartment on Bay Street.

Was this another bad news? Or was it just like the time he had told her that he couldn't pay her school fees after he had gambled away her mother's savings? She hoped that he hadn't done something stupid again.

Her mind was racing with thoughts as she closed the door and darted her eyes around the small entryway. The hallway was dark and empty.

"Papa." She called out for him.

"We are in here, Caro. Come in." He invited her into the living area.

Carolina's brows furrowed when she heard him speak. How many people were with her father? And why?

It was strange for her father to have called her from school because he never called. He didn't check up on her nor did he send money. He was just her father in the name of it.

And since the tragic death of her mother at the hands of a drunk driver, it was as if he never cared. So far he had enough money to get more bottles of alcohol and gamble his meager salary away, he was okay.

Which was why she was doing her best possible to make a new life for herself only for his call to come out of the blue.

A feeling of dread crept into the pit of her stomach and unease settled over her like a thick fog on a cloudy day.

Why did it feel like something worse was about to happen? Her hands were clammy and her heartbeats were loud in her ears as she took slow strides toward the living area.

She walked into the room and scanned it immediately. Her father wasn't alone but the man who was with him backed her with his hands shoved into his pockets.

He was a tall imposing muscular man in a white long-sleeved shirt with black pants that fit him snugly and an expensive-looking silver watch that shined brightly on his wrist.

He stood facing the wall. Or rather staring at a younger version of herself in the picture frame on the wall. It was on the night of her prom.

Why was he doing that? It felt strange.

His woodsy musky scent hit her nostrils and she loved the slightly intoxicating sweet smell of his Arabian perfume.

He had dark shiny hair which was tied in a ponytail. His posture reminded her of someone from her past who she couldn't place at the moment.

She wasn't sure why she was feeling so nervous but in a situation where her father who had called her home sat on the chair staring at her with dull eyes as if he had committed a crime, she was bound to feel nervous.

"Papa, what happened?" Carolina swallowed as she asked the question.

Her heartbeats thudded in her chest as she awaited the bombshell from his pale lips. However, it wasn't her father who answered. The tall man turned around at that moment.

"You are five minutes late and one thing I detest is tardiness, Miss Carolina Alexanders." He spoke as he turned around.

She stared into the most beautiful pair of brown orbs. They stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like forever before she finally broke eye contact.

Her heart beat faster, and she had to force herself to look away.

"And who is this?" She turned to her father in confusion.

What the hell was happening? Why wasn't he speaking? And what was that look? Something was odd with her father. Not only was he pale, but he also stared at her with lifeless eyes.

The man took a step forward, making quick strides towards her as he closed the distance between them, stopping inches away from where she stood.

Her heart jumped into her throat as her body became aware of how close he was. The heat radiating off of his body made her want nothing more than to run away.

The man extended his right hand towards her for an introduction but she ignored him.

"Anyways, I am Connor Leigh, the Alpha of LA Pack." He introduced himself as he shoved his hands back into his pocket.

Carolina swallowed. This was the famous Alpha of LA Pack whom every lady in the city worshipped. But what was he doing in their living area? The likes of him weren't made for this place.

"What have you done to my father!?" She glared at him.

"Mr. Alexanders, I'm afraid you will have to do the introduction yourself. Your daughter has the wrong impression about me here."

" Does she know that you were the one who did something to me?" The man stared at Carolina squarely without taking his eyes off her as he spoke.

What did the man mean by that? What had her father done this time again? Without saying it, she knew he was in a deep mess.

Her father sat up on the chair with a document on the stool before him. He picked up the pen and appended his signature.

"Don't do that, Papa. Have you read the documents." Her voice was barely a whisper as she approached him.

"He doesn't have to read them. Not that he has a choice." Connor smirked at her.

"Alpha Connor, this is my daughter whom I was talking about. Carolina, meet Alpha Connor, he owns you now." Her father said.

Carolina's lips parted in shock and her face wrinkled in confusion. This couldn't be true. Maybe her father was high.

"What do you mean, Papa?"
