SKYLAR

He’s hard.

Again.

Seriously, how the truck is he even hard in a situation like this? I’m by no means an expert in male anatomy, but I’m one hundred percent certain that a hostile interaction with Professor Viper should not result in a... standing ovation.

Wait. My eyes falls back down without permission. Could it be that Trey happens to swing for the other–

“Sky!” comes Jade's frantic whisper interrupting my internal panic.

“Hmm?” I squeak, using a little too-high pitched voice.

Nudging my elbow hard, her hissed words barely leaves her lips. “You are literally staring at his crotch! Scoot over!”

My eyes fly to Trey who’s looking down at me with an insufferably amused smirk, as if he can read every single dirty, chaotic thought bouncing around my brain.

And, as usual, my cheeks betray me by blooming red. I silently curse my pale skin for harboring zero secrets.

Recalling Jade’s words, I quickly slide to the side to make room. But then, I think better of it. “Actually, maybe Jade can move over for you instead of—”

The words die a violent death in my throat because Trey’s already dropping his massive frame into the seat beside me. He’s so close his tantalizing scent floods my senses, and even though there’s technically enough space on the wooden bench, his solid shoulder brushes against mine.

I immediately scoot an inch closer to Jade.

Trey calmly slides an inch closer to me.

My jaw clenches tight. I shimmy another inch toward Jade.

Without breaking eye contact, Trey slides right along with me, his heavy thigh pressing firmly against mine.

This ridiculous game of musical chairs continues until Jade finally leans back and whispers, “Sky, stop! I’m literally falling off the edge of the row. There’s no more space!”

I all but still at that, letting out a sharp huff of defeat as I sit back. Beside me, a deep, rumbling chuckle vibrates through Trey’s chest.

Oh, so he thinks this is funny?

No. Deep breaths, Sky, I think to myself, gripping my pen so hard my knuckle whitens. Just focus on abnormal psychology and ignore the infuriating giant breathing down your neck.

Forcing my eyes toward the front of the hall, I desperately try to tune back into the lesson.

“...which brings us to the midterm project,” Prof. Adams is saying, tapping his dry-erase marker against the podium. “This assignment will account for fifty percent of your final grade. As is standard practice in my syllabus, you’ll be working with your regular assigned partners.”

A collective groan dances all about the hall, but I let out a quiet sigh of relief. I turn to Jade, giving her a thankful smile. We’ve been project partners since we both registered for this course freshman year, and her tech-savvy organization is the only thing keeping my chaotic schedule together.

But then, a deep voice butchers through the murmurs. “I don’t have a partner.”

Prof. Adams darts his eyes to Trey. “Ah. Right. Of course. I forgot you’re just joining us today, Mr. Parker.” With several taps of his chin, he scans the room. “Since you are late to the roster, I’ll assign you to my top student. Rachel, if you would please raise your hand?”

A girl in the front row enthusiastically waves her hand in the air.

Yikes. Now, I actually feel an itsy bitsy pang of pity for Trey.

Look, I am fully aware that I’m a weird, frantic chihuahua of a human. But Rachel? Rachel takes "weird" to an entirely different dimension. She’s currently wearing a clash of neon patterns that look like a riot in a textile factory, paired with her signature knee-high panther-patch socks. She wears those socks with everything.

But for some reason, despite the fact that my grades are consistently higher than hers, the professor absolutely adores her.

“Rachel is currently maintaining a flawless academic record in this course,” he continues, with warmth coating his tone as he praises her. “She will be more than capable of catching you up on the weeks of material you’ve missed, Mr. Parker. I expect you two will–”

“No.” The single syllable is flat and completely cuts the professor off.

This has him pausing with a tight face. “Excuse me?”

“I said no,” Trey relaxes back in his seat and folds his arms. “I don't want her. If you don't mind, Professor, I’d like to choose my own partner.”

My heart does a violent backflip as I stiffen. Oh, please no. He is not about to do what I think he’s about to do.

But then I force myself to calm down. There is absolutely no way Prof. Adams is going to allow this. He’s a literal Dracula about his partner rules. Once you are paired up, switching is strictly a forbidden zone. I remember Roy McCoy tried to petition for a partner change last semester because his partner never showed up, and Prof. ended up removing him from the group project entirely and failing him for the term.

Keeping my fingers crossed tightly under the desk, I pray for him to unleash his inner viper. But as we’ve established by now–my prayers always fall on deaf ears.

“Very well, Mr. Parker. Who would you like to be your partner?” comes Professor Adams' reply in an incredibly accommodating tone.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the second time today this pompous, tenure-obsessed man has completely folded for Trey. The sheer favoritism is insane. What kind of dark magic does the Parker name hold over this school?

Trey’s head slowly turning to me has me throwing every ounce of silent, threatening fury I possess into my expression. I shake my head a fraction of an inch, silently screaming at him to pick literally anyone else.

But my hostility only seems to fuel him. The dangerously wicked smirk returns to his lips, proving he finds my panic absolutely delicious.

He then looks back down at the podium. “I want Miss Thompson here to be my partner.”

  • The QB’s Nerdy Addiction    041: Golden Boy Just… Apologized?!

My eyes are still glued to a random scuff mark on the wall, my pulse beating erratically, when two impossible words burst out of Shawn’s mouth. "I'm sorry." My head snaps toward him so fast I nearly give myself whiplash. My jaw falls. What the helly? Did Shawn Crawford–the arrogant, narcissistic golden boy who has never apologized for a single mistake in his entire miserable life–just apologize? I have to wonder if my ears are deceiving me or if I'm suffering from severe lingering oxygen deprivation. "Huh?" comes Trey’s smug hum. "I didn't quite catch that, Crawford." A muscle ticks in Shawn’s jaw. Squeezing his lids shut, he swallows whatever massive heap of pride is currently choking him, before forcing his gaze up to meet Trey’s. "I'm sorry for framing you, Parker," he grunts out. "It was... a crazy thing to do." "And a very sick thing to do," Coach Max adds sternly. With a slight flinch, Shawn clears his throat. "Right. A very sick thing to do. And for that... I apologize.

  • The QB’s Nerdy Addiction    040: The Definition Of A Hypocrite

I am a flipping hypocrite.Seriously. Call the hypocrite police, lock me up, and throw away the key.Because if I recall correctly, just this past Monday, when Shawn and Cherry were performing their own trashy porn show right here in this exact waiting room, I was the very first person to judge them for their lack of basic human decency. And now look at me–wrapping my lips tightly around Trey's finger, actively and slowly sucking it deep into my mouth without a single hesitation.Trey takes the ice pack from my trembling grip, tosses it onto a seat beside us without breaking eye contact, and begins smoothly sliding his thick digit back and forth over my tongue. It's fine, I tell myself desperately, trying to preserve whatever microscopic shred of dignity I have left. At least mine is still better than Shawn and Cherry, right? It's just... harmless finger sucking. There's really nothing sexual about this.Wrong. So, so flipping wrong.Suddenly snapping out of his slow rhythm, Trey begi

  • The QB’s Nerdy Addiction    039: Show Me

"Hold still.” My hand trembles slightly as I press the cloth-wrapped ice pack against the purpling bruise forming along Trey’s jawline. We are currently sitting in the waiting room. On a chair. With me sitting sideways on Trey's lap. Again. Seriously, the man has a severe, incurable physical affliction when it comes to keeping his hands off me. And Mr. Titan is still very much alive and well, still pressing against my butt, but I can't even find the energy to address it right now because my brain is still hyperventilating over what just went down. After Shawn’s meltdown, a murderous-looking Coach Max had ordered Trey and me to get the heck out of his office, grab some ice, and wait outside while he dealt with Shawn personally. Cherry tried to pull her classic, teary-eyed "I need to stay and support my baby" routine, but Coach practically barked at her to sit down and shut up. The secretary’s desk is empty–thank Zeus–meaning we’re completely alone in the quiet waiting room. I p

  • The QB’s Nerdy Addiction    038: Checkmate

There are a total of four open mouths currently greeting the floor. Namely: Shawn’s, Coach Max’s, Cherry’s, and–oh right–mine included. Honestly, with the level of open-mouthedness happening right now, an entire clan of homeless flies would be smart enough to move right into our throats and set up permanent residency. "What?" Coach Max barks at the exact same moment Shawn gasps out, "Excuse me?!" But all Trey does is to look at Shawn like he’s a dirty bug under his shoe. "Oh, don't you fucking pretend now, Crawford. The full floor saw the whole damn thing." Umm… Did he just say ‘the full floor’?! "You showed up at Skylar’s dorm room to do God knows what," he continues. "And when I showed up to obviously come see my girl, I saw you standing outside her door. I questioned you on what the fuck you were doing there, and you gave me some silly-ass excuse about coming to see your sister–who, by the way, wasn't even there. And when I asked you politely to leave... you went full bonkers

  • The QB’s Nerdy Addiction    037: Zero Fucking Clue

SKYLAR "Trey! Let me up!" With a desperately raspy whisper, I struggle to pull myself off his lap. "I'm not a toddler, Trey. You can't just carry me around like a human teddy bear!" I push against his stone-hard chest, wriggling my lower body to break free. But all the unhinged giant does instead is to lock his arm tighter around my waist, pinning me straight down against his thighs. "Stay.” "No!" I snap back, twisting violently to escape. Just because I had an embarrassing moment of weakness out in the parking lot–and just because I completely lost my mind and kissed him in front of twenty thousand live viewers–does not mean I'm going to play lap-dog for him! I launch into another full-body struggle. Kicking my legs. Wrenching my hips. That only earns me a throaty groan. And before I can say jack, I’m being yanked backward against his chest until his lips are so close to my ear his hot breath scorches my skin. "Sweetheart," he purrs in a deadly whisper, "if your goal right now

  • The QB’s Nerdy Addiction    036: The Only Choice

TREY "Are you fucking serious right now, sweetheart?" The words come out extremely raspy and rough as I stare at Skylar. She looks like a tiny storm packed into a five-foot-five frame. But beneath all that fiery defiance, I can see the subtle tremor in her hands. Hazel eyes on mine, her voice wobbles a little before she steadies it, pleading with her gaze. "T-Trey... c'mon. Just tell her." "Hmm." That’s all the answer I give, letting the silence stretch as I watch her. Chest heaving, her mouth parts like she’s about to push me further, to goad me into giving her the answer she wants. But she doesn’t get the chance to because Natalia’s grating-ass voice comes through at that moment. "Are you seriously doing this right now, Skylar?" she cackles, tossing bleached-blonde hair over her shoulder. "Can you actually handle the public humiliation of getting rejected live in front of my twenty thousand followers? We all know damn well there is zero universe where Trey Parker picks yo
