Full of anticipation, we hold our breath as the elevator slowly takes us to Jasper's penthouse.

With hands tightly intertwined, we wait breathlessly for our arrival. We are both nervous, albeit for different reasons. After what seems like ages, we ultimately are at the top floor, where Jasper opens the door with his fingertip. Once inside, it is as though a burden falls from us, we fall into each other's arms, and our lips meet desperately.

"Rain, by the Moon Goddess. Why did you leave? We can work out everything, my love," Jasper whispers in my ear. "You are worth more to me than the Alpha position and a thousand pups. You are my breath, I love you, my mate. These two years were hell without you," he swears.

His voice, the sparks where he touches me, totally thrilled me.

"It's better this way, Jasper. Get on with your life. I'm not the right mate for you; you'll hate me later when you see the other Alphas with their families. You need pups to take over
