MasukChapter 2
When we were done helping out at the pack house, I followed Kate to her home. "We have to get properly dressed," she said, grinning. "Hehe, don't worry, I'm going to make you so beautiful today! After all, we don't know if you'll meet your future mate at the occasion. I'm excited for you!" "Yeah… I'd be happy to find my mate too," I replied quietly. "I just hope he won't reject me because of how weak I am." "Hey, no need to worry," Kate said, smiling warmly. "The mate bond is real he won't be able to resist you. You're beautiful and smart, Michelle. Once he realizes you're his fated mate, the attraction and desire will be too strong to ignore. Trust me, he'll come running to you." I knew she was just trying to comfort me, but I couldn't help feeling scared. What if it really happened? What if my mate rejected me because I was weak? It wouldn't be the first time someone was rejected for that reason. Still, I told myself everything would be fine… hopefully. When we arrived at Kate's house, her mate Zaki was already home. He looked like he was in a hurry. "Hey, babe. Hi, Michelle," he greeted. "Hi, Zaki," I replied. He nodded at me, then turned to his mate with a soft smile. "Love, I'm running late. I have to help Levi prepare for today you know how much it means to him." He glanced at me. "I'm sure your brother Micha will be there too. When it's 8 p.m., Micha and I will come pick both of you up. So please, be ready before 8 because I know Kate." He shot her a mischievous grin. "She won't be done until after 8." We all laughed. After he left, Kate led me to her room and showed me all her makeup kits. We already had our dresses picked out. She had chosen a red gown for me stunning, but also… too seductive for my liking. It was beautiful, yes, but I wasn't used to wearing dresses like that. I didn't like attracting too much attention. Being weak meant attention could easily turn into trouble. "So, let's begin," Kate said. She started applying makeup to my face, explaining each product concealer, foundation, and a few others I couldn't even remember. I'd never worn makeup before, so everything felt strange and new. After about an hour, Kate gasped dramatically. "Wow! You look stunning. I can't believe how beautiful you are. And to think you've been hiding that pretty face under your hair all this time!" Oh did I forget to mention? Clara once told me I was ugly. Since that day, I started using my hair to cover half of my face so no one would notice me. Looking at my reflection in the mirror now, I realized how stupid I'd been to believe her. I was beautiful. Maybe even more beautiful than Clara. The thought made me laugh. I couldn't wait to see the look on her face tonight. For the first time in a long while, I felt a little excited and a little scared. What if I met my mate tonight? What if he rejected me because of my weakness? "Hey, what are you thinking about again?" Kate asked, noticing my distant look. "Don't worry too much. You look beautiful tonight. Everything will go perfectly trust me." And I decided I would. When I finally finished dressing up, Kate began preparing. When I checked my phone, it was already 7:30. "Damn," I muttered. "Zaki's not going to like this." Kate hurried to get dressed, barely managing to apply light makeup. By the time she was ready, it was already 8. Right then, I heard the sound of a car horn outside Micha's car. We both got out of the house, dressed and ready. "Wow, you look really beautiful, Kate," Zaki said. "And thankfully, today you're not late. You look good too, Michelle." Kate rolled her eyes playfully. "What do you mean good? My girl looks great! Hehe. I transformed her from a shy girl into a seductress. I'm honestly impressed with my work." I felt shy under all the attention. Even my brother was staring at me like I was a stranger. "You mean this is Michelle? Wow, you look so different. I can't believe my sister is this beautiful." "Yes, yes, she's very beautiful," Kate said proudly. "Now let's get going." We arrived at the hall, and I must say our hard work paid off. The decorations, the seating arrangements, the lighting — everything was perfect. The grand hall looked stunning. But one thing annoyed Kate and me: to think the ceremony was going to start by 10! Kate glared at her mate. "Zaki, explain why you lied about the time." "Babe, I'm sorry," Zaki said, raising his hands defensively. "I didn't know you'd be done so quickly. I thought you'd still be dressing up by nine, as usual. You know you're always late, so I just" "So you're saying I'm slow?" she interrupted sharply. "Anyone slow is also stupid! You've just insulted me. First, you bring me here early, and now you have the audacity to insult me!" "Hey, when did I do that?" Zaki said, looking confused. "I didn't insult you, love. I'm sorry, it's my fault, okay? Don't be mad." My brother and I couldn't help laughing at their little drama. Then Micha said, "Um, Zaki and I have to go now. We need to assist Levi with something." He turned to me. "Michelle, hold my phone for me. I'll be too busy to answer. Kira is coming soon she doesn't know the way. When she arrives, let me know; I'll be in Levi's dressing room." "Fine. When your mate comes, I'll bring her to you, brother." "Great, thanks, sis. We have to go now," he said, dragging Zaki away, who was still apologizing to Kate. I smiled at her. She still looked a bit annoyed. "He's so annoying," Kate said, though a small smile crept onto her face. I giggled. "You're just exaggerating. It's not that bad being here early. We can talk and pass the time. It's not a big deal." "No, Michelle, you don't understand," she replied dramatically. "What if one of those old women sees us and says, 'My child, please help me with this or that'? It would be rude to decline an elder! He better pray nobody disturbs our peace, or he'll pay for it later." I laughed, shaking my head. As we were talking, I saw my brother's mate calling his phone. I told Kate I had to step outside to meet her. "Sure, be careful," she said. "Or do you need me to come with you?" "No, no need. I'm not a kid, Kate," I said, smiling happy to have a friend like her.Chapter 173 The Land of the Damned Levi’s POV The carriage stayed silent for a long time. Nicolas finally spoke, still sounding half in disbelief. “What just happened? I knew there was a chance Roosevelt was his son… but that was insane.” Clara muttered, staring at her empty arms, “The entrance was crazy. Those black wings… the way his eyes glowed. I couldn’t even speak. I still don’t know how he took Rose from me so fast.” Arin’s voice was quiet and shaken. “I couldn’t say a word. My mouth refused to move.” I let out a slow breath. “At least you wanted to say something. My brain just stopped the moment I saw him.” Eric shuddered. “Truly terrifying. I just hope nothing bad happens to Rose… or Erin.” The carriage moved faster. Surprisingly, the road beneath us was smooth. I glanced out the window. “Didn’t know the roads in Hell would be this smooth.” Clara leaned against Nicolas. “I hope our journey here stays smooth. I just want to be with Nicolas and leave a
Chapter 172The Enchanted Forest of Demons Levi’s POVI could feel everyone’s hearts pounding.Arin’s voice was tight with fear. “Our life force is being drained? Including Rose’s? No. We have to get out of here.”I looked behind us.A wave of rotten creatures was charging toward us, eyes glowing, vines thrashing like living whips. Their bodies twisted and cracked as they ran, bark-like skin splitting open with every step.Eric muttered under his breath, “What the hell…”Nicolas’s voice cut through the chaos, sharp and urgent. “We have to get into the heart. There’s no other choice.”Clara’s eyes darted around desperately. “But how? There’s no door!”The creatures closed in fast. Vines shot forward like spears, possessed and hungry. One thick vine lashed straight toward Clara’s neck.Nicolas’s eyes snapped wide. Without a second of hesitation he blurred forward, claws extended, and tore the vine apart before it could touch her. He didn’t stop there. He launched himself deepe
Chapter 171 The Enchanted Forest of Demons Nicolas’s POV I started by telling them everything. How I had been dragged into another memory. How it felt completely different from anything I had experienced before. How weak I had been — almost helpless. When I reached the part where the beam of energy pierced straight through my heart, Clara’s eyes filled with tears again. I pulled her closer and gently wiped them away with my thumb. “It’s alright, love. I’m here now.” She nodded, but the fear still lingered in her expression. She held onto me tighter, as if she was afraid I might disappear again. Levi frowned. “If your heart was pierced… shouldn’t you be dead?” Arin spoke quietly. “I think that’s why his body started turning grey earlier.” I blinked. “It turned grey here too?” Eric nodded solemnly. “Yes. The Living Book already said that if your body turns completely grey… you’re dead.” A cold shiver ran down my spine. “Well… thanks to my father, I made it.” I t
Chapter 170Nicolas’s POVI opened my eyes to pure darkness. Nothing else existed — no light, no sound, only endless black.I tried to stand. Surprisingly, it felt easy. I pressed a hand to my chest, expecting to feel a hole where the beam had pierced my heart… yet I could still walk.I moved through the darkness until a familiar figure appeared ahead of me.My father.I stopped. “Father… why are you here?”He stepped forward and pulled me into a firm, warm embrace. “I’ve always been here.”His voice was calm, steady. “I’ll explain what is happening to you as quickly as I can.”I nodded, letting him continue.“This is your consciousness. You are standing between life and death. I recorded this message in your mind long ago. You can only see it when you are about to die.”I frowned slightly. “But if it’s already recorded… can I still ask questions?”My father gave a small smile. “I already know the questions you will ask.”He continued without pause. “This is your consciousness. If you
Chapter 169 The Enchanted Forest of Demons Levi’s POV I stood up weakly, legs still shaking from the earlier fight. “We need to keep going.” Nicolas sighed, wiping green blood from his cheek. “The issue is we don’t know where the gate is.” Eric glanced at the floating book. “Maybe ask the living book again.” Arin shook her head. “Didn’t the book already say it doesn’t know the exact location?” I looked at the book hovering beside me. Its pages fluttered, then golden letters appeared across the surface. *The gate is at the heart of the Enchanted Forest.* I frowned. “The heart of the Enchanted Forest?” *Yes. The heart lies in the middle of the forest.* Arin stepped closer. “The middle of the forest? How do we even get there?” The book trembled slightly. *My vision is limited, but head east. When you encounter a curse, turn west.* Clara muttered, holding Rose tighter, “That is very confusing. When we encounter a curse?” *The forest will send a curse.* Arin’s voice droppe
Chapter 168 The Enchanted Forest of Demons The Enchanted Forest of Demons was nothing like any forest they had ever known. Trees rose like twisted black pillars, their bark pulsing faintly as if they were breathing. Thick vines hung from the branches like nooses, and the ground beneath their feet was soft, damp, and unnaturally warm. A low mist crawled along the forest floor, glowing a sickly green in places. Strange whispers drifted between the trunks — soft, almost loving, yet filled with malice. No birds sang. No insects chirped. The only sound was the occasional creak of wood that sounded far too much like laughter. They walked in tense silence, weapons ready, senses stretched thin. The living book floated beside Levi, its pages fluttering restlessly. Then suddenly. Arin stopped walking. Her eyes glazed over. A soft, almost dreamy smile spread across her face as she stepped off the path toward a massive, twisted tree. “Roosevelt…” she whispered. In her mind, he
Chapter 3As I went outside to meet Kira, my brother's mate, I picked up her call."Hey, Micha, where are you? I'm already inside the pack hall, but I can't find my way around," she said, sounding a little lost."Hey, it's me, Michelle," I replied. "My brother asked me to come get you once you reac
Chapter 1 "Wake up, Michelle!" Micha's voice echoed through my sleep. I frowned, pulling the blanket over my head. "Just give me a few minutes, Micha." "We don't have time," he said in a frustrated tone, shaking my shoulder. With a groan, I finally opened my eyes. Warm sunlight streamed thr
Chapter 5 _Michelle's POV_ I got down from my brother's car. The gravel bit through my thin shoes. My knees wanted to fold. Kate and Micha were consoling me, but Micha looked ready to rip Levi’s throat out. His hands were fists. His whole body was a wire pulled too tight. I couldn’t le
