Warmth.

That was the first thing Daniella felt, unexpected, smothering warmth. Her eyes fluttered open, and she gasped. She was lying on a bed of what looked like snow, but it didn’t melt against her skin. Instead, it pulsed faintly with light, like moonlight frozen in crystal. The ceiling above her glimmered with soft, bioluminescent veins, and the air shimmered with specks of silver, like dust caught in perpetual twilight.

She sat up with a jolt, her heart pounding. Where was she?

Memory surged back in jagged pieces, the snow, the ridge, the sound like glass on ice, her guard disappearing beside her. The eyes. The pressure in her mind. The Iskralith.

Daniella scrambled off the strange bed, her limbs shaky. She was still dressed in the clothes she’d worn—thick wool, her fur-lined coat, gloves slightly damp. But her boots were gone, replaced with soft coverings of some fabric she couldn’t identify. There was no visible door, only smooth, curved walls that glowed faintly blue.

Daniella stood at the lake’s edge, the same one where she had first felt the pull. The surface was glass, untouched by wind. Around her stood the council, Alpha Kyle, Elora, Marcus, Mirelle, and Dalton, his hand a steady warmth at her back.Behind them, Silverpine warriors lined the forest edge, weapons sheathed, their armor dulled intentionally to show they came not for war. There were no guards across the lake. No emissaries. No frostborn sentinels or winged beasts. Only the silence, and the snow, and the air that shimmered like it remembered something ancient.Daniella stepped forward.“They won’t come like we expect,” she said softly, eyes half-closed. “They aren’t bound by form the way we are. They watch. They listen. They test.”Kyle frowned. “Then how do we begin?”“We speak truth,” Daniella said. “With no demand. Only remembrance.”She pulled from her cloak a crystal shard—white as snow, humming faintly with cold. The only thing she’d brought back from the veil.“I offer this

The war room in Alpha Kyle’s mansion was in a frenzy, Maps lay scattered across a wide oak table, their surfaces marked with strokes and pins.Alpha Dalton paced restlessly near the hearth, fists clenched, jaw tight. His usually composed face was strained, haunted by sleepless nights. He hadn't stopped moving since Daniella vanished.“She wouldn’t have left willingly,” he said, voice rough. “Not without telling someone.”“I agree,” Elora said quietly, brushing a hand across her eyes. “She was standing with a guard. Something pulled her away.”“I’ve already dispatched the eastern scouts to the ravine passes,” Alpha Kyle’s gamma added, arms folded, his bulky frame stiff with worry. “If she’s somewhere near the glacial border, they’ll find her.”“We don’t even know what we’re dealing with,” Mirelle added, voice low. “These visions… the whispers of frost... If she’s crossed into whatever realm these Iskralith belong to, our weapons may be useless.”A heavy silence followed.Dalton stopped

El’serai leaned forward slightly. “You may go to him if that is your wish. But first, you must choose: take with you the memory of frost, or let it sleep forever.”“What does that mean?” Daniella’s voice cracked, hoarse with confusion and fear. The queen’s gaze softened.“If you choose to return,” El’serai said gently, “you will not remember this place. Not the valley. Not the songs. Not our faces or the snow that sang to you. It will be as if none of it ever happened. Your memories of the Iskralith will be veiled, sealed within the deepest recesses of your soul—untouched and unreachable.”Daniella’s lips parted, but no sound came. Her fingers tightened on the folds of her robe.“But why?” she whispered finally.“Because this place is not meant for your world,” said the robed figure with the staff of moonlight. “We are not myths to be carried into mortal politics and conflict. We exist beyond time, in a sliver of memory, hidden by the frost.”El’serai’s eyes lingered on her. “And yet…

Two days had passed since Daniella was taken, and she had not slept much since the first night. Her dreams had been twisted and vivid—images of Dalton’s worried face, Liam’s cold stare, the flickering blood moon, and the haunting silver eyes of the Iskralith. Every time she drifted off, she woke with a jolt, as though her body knew it was not where it belonged. And surprisingly, she hadn’t been harmed. The inhabitants of the Iskralith Valley, for all their otherworldly strangeness, were gentle. They did not speak often, but when they did, it was with soft tones and clear, serene eyes. There was no resentment. No mockery. No contempt. Their presence was calming, like being wrapped in snowfall—quiet, constant, and strangely intimate. On the morning of the second day, one of the female attendants, whose name Daniella had learned was Saelith, entered her chamber with a kind smile.“The queen wishes you to walk today, if you feel strong enough,” Saelith said gently, offering her a robe of

Snow hissed under the boots of twenty-five warriors as the joint task force moved through the timberline at the edge of Frostrise Valley. The sun was a dim smudge behind thick clouds, casting a steel-gray pallor over the land. Frost laced every branch like silver veins, and the wind carried whispers that made the wolves' hackles rise.Alpha Kyle led at the front, his coat pulled tight around him. Beside him strode Beta Marcus, eyes scanning the horizon like a hawk hunting movement. Gamma Elora flanked them, her hands gripping her leather-bound notebook, the pages fluttering in the cold like restless wings.Dalton walked a step behind them, his pace clipped with frustration. He hadn't wanted to bring her.“Daniella, this is not your fight,” he’d said the night before, his voice quiet but firm in the room they shared at the Silverpine estate.“It became my fight the moment I married you andbacame your Luna,” she’d answered, chin high, eyes steady. “I need to see this with my own eyes.”
