Chapter 144

Tori's POV

The burial day was finally upon us.

I just got into the shower to bath Arthur and I, and because bathing kids were normally a nightmare, I spent almost an hour before I stepped out.

A white gown was already set on the bed for me, and I gently felt for the green embroidery at the hem and sleeves.

Like the Luna dowager promised, she has returned my mother's only jewelry, a necklace.

It was beautiful. Simple, but pretty. I ran my finger over it and Arthur

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    I will do it

Chapter 145. Tori's POV Who would have thought that the first time I would actually meet my father was him being a cold, eeriely still corpse. I was frozen in all of these blinking eyes, and fucking this up, even though that was the single thing that Larissa and her mother implored me not to do. My eyes met with Adrian's, and he held my gaze as he slowly stood up to his feet. I knew what he was doing. Fuck my dead dad, he was going to get me out of this place... "No, Tori, you can do this. You've come a long way, and see how many people have come? I'm right here girl, you will be fine. Come on, one foot in front of the other," Her smoothly hand held mIne and with a gentle tuck, she pulled me along. Slowly, I went to the chairs that were set a little away from the corpse, but also from everyone else. I sat down and immediately started to pick at my nails. One of the craziest things that I used to do to help with my anxiety. Even with my stunt, Larissa and he

A white gown was already set on the bed for me, and I gently felt for the green embroidery at the hem and sleeves. Like the Luna dowager promised, she has returned my mother's only jewelry, a necklace. It was beautiful. Simple, but pretty. I ran my finger over it and Arthur chuckled, like he could understand the happy smile on my face. "Would you look at that, my darling? Your mother left us a little gift. Isn't she the best grandma ever?" I put the gold necklace over my neck and stared into my reflection into the mirror. I set Arthur down and put on the white gown. No one asked for my measurements, or what style I could have preferred for the gown, but it was perfect. The door clicked open and Adrian walked into the room. He was also in a white shirt a

Chapter 143. Tori's POV I couldn't feel my legs, or my hands, or even what my tongue felt like against my teeth. I was staring down at grave of the mother I never met. Adrian was standing to my left, and I could hear him sigh over and over again. "I can exhume her, Tori." He said. "I can get men here to get her out of here and into a more dignifying place in one hour. Just give me the word." I didn't answer him, instead I fell on my knees and started to pull at the overgrown grasses on my mother's shallow grave. How dare they grow over her head? How dare anyone bury my mother so close to a dump. "Tori, you've got to stop. Calm down." Adrian said, but I refused to listen to him. I pulled so hard at a patch of grass, but it was so stubborn. My answer added more to my strength and I pulled like it was the last thing I was going to do. The patch came out, but I fell on my butt, like the loser that I was. My two fingers were also bleeding and throbbing wi

Chapter 142. Adrian's POV Tori and I were entangled in the sheet, her warm naked body pressed against mine as we basked in the aftermath of our hot sexual intercourse. I kissed her shoulder and she stirred a bit, snuggling her face into my chest. Poor Tori. I was going to protect her from her mean family. She was exhausted and she deserved all the rest in the world right now, so I didn't want to wake her up. But I also needed to get Arthur from his sitter and make sure that he has his bath and is fed. Thankfully, Tori pumped some milk before bed yesterday, and it was in the freezer. I slowly got out of bed, not to wake her up, and I got a shirt. I got out of the room and went to the next, where Arthur and his sitter spent the night. I expected to see him sleeping like his mother, but the room was empty, and both the bed and the cradle was made. I heard Arthur's giggle from downstairs and my heart was calm now. The nanny, the young teenage girl, had h

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    I will tie you down if I have to

Chapter 141. Tori's POV I felt Adrian stiffen next to me. "Excuse me?" Luna dowager gave him a sorry smile. "I'm sorry, she didn't tell you? Well, I don't blame her because she was a wee child when she left. Her mother was the pack whore, and I honestly don't like to judge people before getting to know them, but there is a large possibility that it rubbed off on her." "Judge her?!" Adrian asked with a very pissed off tone. "You want to judge Tori for something that was entirely not her doing?!" "Adrian, honey, I was barren for the first five years of my marriage. Yes, it was beyond my control, but I didn't blame anyone but myself." "Bullshit!" Adrian huffed. Larissa is taken aback by this. "Alpha Adrian please watch your tone. You are speaking to my mother, and you are in the presence of the leader of this pack!" "Trust me, I will regard you with the highest disrespect, and there is nothing that you can do about it! Tori has a huge fashion house, and she l

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    A speech, just incase

Chapter 140. Tori's POV I was scribbling into my journal as soon as I woke up, but after writing a few lines, I found myself cancelling it. It had happened four times. I was trying to write a short speech in case I was asked to give one at my father's burial. The irony was that I didn't even know the man. From what I knew, I was never a wanted child, so why was I stressing myself? I didn't have the answer to that. I guess it was just something I was doing because of my anxiety about meeting them. "Hey," Adrian said, touching my arm. "We are ready to go. We are here now." Gosh, I didn't even notice when we touched down. What was wrong with me? I quickly put everything together, got Arthur up, and we all went out of the plane. A jeep was waiting for us, and it was so sparkling new that I was sure that Adrian bought it hours before we landed. "Seriously, a car? You guys don't understand that we don't have a fancy road to the pack. We have to cross a stream
