Dane’s POV

The council room smelled of parchment and smoke. I’d been sitting there for almost an hour, trying to listen to Beta Kael’s report, but every time his voice droned through the room, my mind drifted somewhere else, up the stairs, through the hall, and straight into the room where she lay.

Donna.

Even now, her presence lingered at the back of my mind, faint but impossible to ignore.

The mate bond pulsed like a distant heartbeat, a soft tug beneath my skin that kept me tethered to her even when I didn’t want to be.

“Alpha,” Kael said again, his tone sharpening, pulling me back. “You’re not listening.”

I blinked, straightening in my chair. “Repeat that.”

He exhaled, a mixture of patience and irritation. “I said the patrols found no trace of the rogues near the southern border. But they did find something unusual, a mark on one of the trees. It’s old, but it resembles the crest of the Blackmoon Pack.”

My brows furrowed. “That can’t be right. The Blackmoon Pack was destroyed ye

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 15

Donna’s POV I woke to the sound of rain.Soft, steady, and distant, the kind that makes the world feel far away. The canopy above me glowed faintly with the last traces of moonlight, and for a moment, I wasn’t sure if I was still dreaming. Then I felt it.The bond.It hummed through me like a heartbeat that wasn’t mine, slow and steady, pulling at something deep inside my chest. The air around me was heavy with it, yet warm, electric, alive. I sat up carefully, brushing the damp hair from my forehead. My body still ached from the fall, but the pain was duller now, replaced by a strange calm I couldn’t explain. The room was quiet, except for the crackling fire and the rhythmic patter of rain. Clara had fallen asleep curled up near the foot of the bed, her head resting on a small stool. She must’ve stayed there all night.I smiled faintly. “You’ll catch a cold,” I whispered, though she couldn’t hear me.As I adjusted the blanket over her, the warmth shifted again, not from the fire, b

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 13

Donna’s POVThe first thing I felt was warmth.Soft, steady, and gentle like sunlight through closed curtains. The second was pain, dull but constant, spreading across my temples and down my spine. My eyelids fluttered open slowly, the world swinging in and out of focus until the ceiling above me took shape.White carvings. The same canopy. The same bed.I was back in my room.My head throbbed when I tried to sit up, so I stayed still, listening instead. Somewhere close, two voices whispered, low and urgent.“She shouldn’t have collapsed like that,” one said. Leona’s voice, calm but threaded with worry. “Her fever came too fast.”“I know, my lady,” Clara answered softly. “She said she wasn’t hungry, but I tried to make her eat. She did, just not enough.”There was a pause, and I could almost hear Leona sigh. “It isn’t your fault, child. She’s been through more than we understand. Her body is only now remembering what rest feels like.”A rustle of fabric, the sound of a chair being p

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 12

Dane’s POV“Lucien.”The name echoed in my head long after her voice went silent. It wasn’t mine. And yet hearing it come from her lips as she fell unconscious in my arms carved something dark and cold through my chest.Who the hell was Lucien?Jealousy hit before reason could catch up…sharp, fast, and ugly. My wolf bristled inside me, snarling at the thought of another name on her tongue, another bond in her heart. But she was limp in my arms, pale and fevered, and the anger died as quickly as it came.I couldn’t afford jealousy now. Not when she looked so fragile that even the night air seemed too heavy for her.“Hold on,” I muttered under my breath, tightening my grip as I strode toward the manor. “Just hold on.”Through the mind link, I reached out to the healers, all of them. “To my chamber. Now.”And then, “Mother, bring Clara. Donna fainted.”The responses were instant, a ripple of voices acknowledging the command. By the time I reached her room, the corridor was already alive

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 11

Donna’s POVSleep wouldn’t come.No matter how many times I turned, how tightly I wrapped myself in the blanket, my mind refused to quiet down. His scent still lingered in the room, faintly earthy, laced with something warm like smoke and pine. It unsettled me more than I wanted to admit. When he’d left, I thought I’d finally be able to breathe. But the silence he left behind felt heavier than his presence.I pushed off the bed, rubbing my arms to fight the chill. The moonlight slipped through the curtains, casting pale stripes across the floor. Somewhere in the hallway, I could still hear faint footsteps, his maybe. Before I could think too much about it, I moved. The door creaked softly as I opened it, and a cool breeze rushed in from the corridor. My heart thudded. I didn’t even know why I was following him, only that I couldn’t stay there, surrounded by ghosts and questions.By the time I caught sight of him, he was at the end of the corridor, heading toward a set of stairs tha

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 10

Dane’s POVThe moment I stepped through the door, the air changed.Warm. Scented faintly of herbs and honey and something else. Something alive. My wolf stirred immediately, recognizing what my mind still refused to name.Donna.She was sitting near the window, wrapped in soft linen and fading light, her hair damp from a bath. The golden sunset spilled over her skin, making her look unreal and too fragile for the world I ruled, too human for the kind of bond we shared. But what truly caught me off guard wasn’t her.It was Clara. The little maid was standing beside her, smiling while arranging the tray on the table. The sight nearly made me stop in the doorway. Clara had never smiled at anyone but my mother. She didn’t trust easily; she barely spoke to the guards, and she avoided most of the household like shadows avoided fire. And yet, here she was. Laughing softly, whispering something that made Donna’s lips curve in a faint smile. My brow furrowed. “I see you’re making friends qui
