Chapter 3

The next morning, I heard a knock on my door, and I was surprised who that could be, because I don't have any friends yet in Canada.

I proceeded to open the door and, to my surprise, I saw a betrayer who called herself my stepsister.

Anger began to boil inside as I asked her what she was doing here. I stood my ground as Leah glared at me with fury in her eyes. "You have no right to be here," she spat out.

"And who are you to tell me where to be or not? I work here now," I replied coolly. "And I won't be leaving anytime soon."

"You have no loyalty to our pack!" she yelled. "You've gone against our rules and disgraced our family!"

"I did what I had to do," I retorted, my voice shaking with anger. "I had to leave that pack and start a new life for myself, since you betrayed me."

"You could have gone anywhere else," Leah hissed. "But you chose to work for our biggest enemy, which makes you a betrayer also."

"I didn't know it was owned by the enemy of the pack." I applied, trying to reason with her.

"You knew exactly what you were doing!" Leah accused. "And now, our pack is being humiliated because of you. But, our father asked me to tell you that you've been banished from the pack, and you must not come back to us."

"I didn't do this to humiliate our pack," I said, my voice trembling with emotion. "I did it for myself, to escape the pain and heartbreak I felt after Alpha Blake rejected me."

"Alpha Blake chose me instead of you, so deal with it!" Leah said smugly. "He made the right choice."

I felt a surge of anger within me. "You may have won his heart, but you'll never have mine," I said firmly. "Now, if you don't mind, I have work to do."

Leah glared at me for a moment longer before finally storming out of my house. I let out a sigh of relief and tried to focus on my work, but my thoughts kept wandering back to my family and the pack I had been banished from. I wondered what my future held now that I had been cut off. I don't even know why Leah showed up to deliver the news to me.

She shouldn't be the one to tell me that I am banished from the pack.

*TWO YEARS EARLIER*

Derick Mondragon paid a visit to our home, seeking to discuss matters with my father. As Derick entered, he wasted no time in expressing his intentions. "Since your pack is without an Alpha," he began, "I would like us to join forces, to strengthen both our packs."

However, my father didn't take kindly to Derick's proposal. He felt a pang of humiliation at the suggestion. "I may not be fit to be an Alpha yet," my father replied, his tone firm, "but I will never join my pack with Mondragon's. Your father was known to be a betrayer In he's life time!"

Derick's expression darkened at the mention of his father. "Your words sting, but I remember my father is not weakling like you," he retorted sharply. "He leaded he's pack properly when he was alive."

At that moment, Leah, my sister, walked in. Her eyes flashed with anger as she took in the scene unfolding before her. "What gives you the right to speak to my father like that?" she demanded of Derick, her voice filled with fury, as she slapped Derick so hard.

But Derick's response was swift and shocking. He slapped Leah across the face back, the sound echoing in the tense silence of the room. "Don't you dare strike me again!" he sneered, his eyes blazing with arrogance. Leah was shocked because, she don't believe Derick would return the slap.

Enraged by Derick's actions, my father's control wavered. "Get out of my house this instant," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "Or you will regret ever setting foot here."

Derick's lips curled into a contemptuous smirk. "What a shame," he taunted, his words dripping with disdain. "You can't be an Alpha of your pack, and you can't even raise a good daughter."

Despite the seething anger coursing through him, my father remained composed. With a steely glare, he repeated his command. "Leave, now."

Without another word, Derick turned on his heel and stormed out of the house. I flashed out of the memory and I closed my laptop and got dressed for work. It was raining outside, but I entered it using my hand as a disguise. All the taxis were just passing me by, none wanted to wait, my clothes had begun to get wet before one taxi stopped in front of me.

"Hi, ma'am, where are you going?"

"Mondragon corporation," I replied and got inside the taxi, fixing my dress.

Immediately we arrived in front of Mondragon company, the rain was still pouring heavily but, I had no choice than to step down.

Trying to run out from the rain, when a car drove roughly from nowhere and intentionally spilled dirty water all over me.

"Jezz!" I screamed and took cover in the front of the company, waiting to see who drove the car.

After the car parked, the door was opened, but the person stretched out an umbrella and spread it. Derick Mondragon stepped out of the car, having a devilish smile on his face while my jaw was squeezing and shaking.

"I hope you don't mind the little shower I gave you, Sophia," Derick said with a smirk. "You look quite lovely all wet and dirty."

I glared at him, feeling anger boiling up inside me. "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"

Derick's smirk widened. "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. What are you going to do about it?"

I clenched my fists, trying to control my temper. "I'll just go change my clothes and come back."

"Do not try that, Sophia, if you still want to continue working here, go in there like that!" Derick said with a cold voice, and walked out from me.

"I can't believe this is happening," I muttered to myself as I entered the building, water dripping from my clothes and hair. My colleagues looked at me in shock and some even whispered to each other, probably wondering what had happened to me.

I quickly made my way to the restroom to dry myself off as much as possible, but it was no use. My clothes were ruined and I looked like a mess.

Then I was about to turn and go back to my space, when I sensed that someone was inside the restroom. The person doesn't have a werewolf scent.

I approached the door and knocked gently, "Hello? Is everything okay in there?" I asked softly. There was no response, but I could hear the sound of quiet sniffling. I tried again, "Do you need any help? Can I do anything to make you feel better?"

The person still didn't respond, then I left the place and headed back to my space. Mia was already waiting for me like she wanted to devour me.

"Where have you been!" She asked.

"I'm sorry, Mia, but I couldn't help it. I heard someone crying in the restroom and had to check if they were okay," I explained.

Mia look at me from head down and say, "why do you look like a trash? This is a company not a place where psychic are being taking care of!"

I scoff and say, "come on Mia, at the least you should wait for my response before passing judgement!"

Mia rolled her eyeballs. "I'm not interested in your explanation. And about you checking on someone in the rest room, you should have informed someone else to check on them. It is not your responsibility."

"But no one was around, and I couldn't just ignore someone in distress," I replied, trying to reason with her.

"Well, it's your job to be here on time and do your work. Don't let personal matters that is none of your business get in the way," Mia said sternly.

I nodded, feeling frustrated and overwhelmed with the amount of work on my desk. "Yes, Mia. I'll get right to my work," I said before starting to sort through the papers.

I started working when I noticed that the employees were whispering to themselves. And they were staring at me with a disgusted face. I did not let that distract me, as I continued with what I was doing.

Until Mia walked up to me and intentionally pushed off the bundle of paper, I arranged for a photocopy. "Oops, it's a mistake I don't know," Mia said, acting surprised.

"I know you did it intentionally." I said to her and bend down to start picking the papers.

"And so? Rejected mate!" Mia spat out and started laughing.

I stood up and faced Mia, trying to control my anger. "What's so funny about that?" I asked her calmly.

Mia just continued laughing. "Don't you get it? You're a nobody. No one wants you, not even your own mate."

I clenched my fists, feeling the anger boiling inside me. "That's not true," I said, trying to convince myself more than Mia.

"Oh really? Then why are you here, why are you working for your rival pack?" Mia sneered. "Your father banished you, didn't he? And now you're stuck here, with no one to turn to."

I gritted my teeth, trying to hold back my tears. Mia was right, but I refused to let her see me cry. "I don't need your pity," I said, trying to sound confident.

Mia just laughed again. "Pity? Who said anything about pity? I'm just stating the facts. You're a rejected mate, and you'll always be a nobody."

I couldn't take it anymore. I turned and ran out of the photocopy room, tears streaming down my face. I didn't care if anyone saw me crying, I just needed to get away from Mia and the other employees. As I ran, I realized that I needed to find a way to prove everyone wrong. I may be a rejected mate, but I was not going to let that define me.
