Raven's POV

By Wednesday morning, everyone was talking about me again. I heard the whispers the moment I walked into school.

"Did you hear about Raven?"

"I heard she's been sleeping around."

"That's why she doesn't know who the father is."

I kept my head down and went to my locker. When I opened it, a note fell out. I picked it up and read it.

"Slut. We all know what you did, leave before we make you leave."

My hands shook while Breeze growled inside me.

"Who wrote this?" she demanded.

"Could be anyone," I said, crumpling the note and shoving it in my pocket.

In the first period, I sat in my usual seat, but I couldn't focus. My mind kept circling the note and who might have written such cruel words.

At lunch, I went to the library again, but even there I wasn’t safe. A group of girls whispered at a nearby table.

"She's so pathetic," one said.

“Acting like she's some victim when she's just a homewrecker."

"Homewrecker?" I thought.

"They're making things up," Breeze sai

Raven's POV Wednesday night, I sat alone in my room staring at the ceiling. Luna Vera had tried to get me to come down for dinner, but I couldn't face them, I couldn't face anyone. The loneliness felt like it was crushing me from the inside out. "You're not alone," Breeze said gently. "I'm here." "I know," I said. "But sometimes that doesn't feel like enough." "Why not?" she asked. "Because you're part of me," I said. "You have to be here, you don't have a choice." "That's not true," Breeze said. "I could make your life miserable if I wanted to and fight you every step of the way, but I don't. I choose to support you and be here for you." I hadn't thought about it that way before. "Thank you," I said. "For choosing me." "Always," she said. I got up and looked at myself in the mirror. My face was puffy from crying, my hair was a mess, but underneath all that I could see something else. Something I hadn't noticed before. I looked stronger somehow, like I had been through hel

Raven's POV Tuesday morning started normal enough. Alaric walked me to school like he had been doing all week, and we went our separate ways after first period. I was heading to my locker when I noticed a group of girls huddled together whispering and looking at their phones. When they saw me, they quickly put their phones away and scattered. Something about the way they looked at me made my stomach drop. I got to my locker and opened it. Inside was a printout of a picture. Someone had photoshopped my face onto a much larger body and written "Whale Watching Season" across the top and underneath it said "Coming Soon, Baby Whale." I crumpled it up and threw it in the trash trying to ignore the burning in my eyes. This wasn't the first cruel note I had gotten, but it still hurt. During lunch, I sat in my usual spot in the library. Alaric was late, which was unusual. That's when I heard raised voices outside the library. I got up and peeked through the door. Alaric had three guys co

Raven's POV Monday morning, I forced myself to go back to school. I couldn't hide forever and missing more days would only make things worse. Alaric was waiting for me at the front entrance as he promised. "You ready for this?" he asked. "Not really," I said. "But I don't have a choice." We walked in together and I felt everyone staring at me. Whispers followed us down the hallway but nobody approached. Having Alaric by my side kept most people away. During the break between classes, I went to my locker to grab my math book. That's when I felt someone standing too close behind me. "Raven Valkhor," a voice said. "We need to talk." I turned around and saw Jake Bramwell leaning against the lockers next to mine. He was tall, with dark hair and a smile that never reached his eyes. I knew who he was, but we had never spoken before. "I don't think we have anything to talk about," I said, closing my locker. "Oh I think we do," he said, blocking my path. "See, I've been hearing som

Raven's POV I didn't go to school on Friday, I couldn't face anyone after what Dante said to me. Instead, I stayed in my room with the door locked and the curtains closed. I pulled out my journal. I needed to get everything out of my head before it consumed me, so I started writing about the confrontation with Dante and how his words had cut so deep. I wrote about how worthless he made me feel and how scared I was for the future. I put down the pen and closed my eyes. Breeze had been more active, vocal and present lately. It was like she was trying to tell me something but I didn't know what. "What are you sensing?" I asked her. "Danger," she said immediately. "Something bad is coming." "What kind of bad?" I asked sitting up. "I don't know yet," she said. "But I can feel it." "Like a storm building on the horizon." "Is it about Dante?" I asked. "Partly," she said. "But it's bigger than him, there are others involved." "Luella?" I guessed. "Yes," Breeze said. "And her m

Raven's POV Thursday afternoon, I decided I was done waiting for Dante to come to me. I needed to confront him one more time and make him acknowledge the baby. I found him in the pack training grounds, working out with some of his friends. When he saw me walking toward him, his face got hard. "What do you want Raven?" he asked, not stopping his workout. "I need to talk to you," I said. "Alone." "I'm busy," he said. "It's important," I said. "Just say what you need to say and leave," he said. "Fine," I said, pulling out the crystal from my pocket. "Look at this." I held it in my palm and concentrated on the baby and within seconds it started glowing that bright gold color. His friends gasped and started whispering but Dante just stared at it with a blank expression. "So?" he said. "So this proves the baby is yours," I said. "It has Alpha blood, your blood." "That doesn't prove anything," he said. "Just admit it Dante," I said. "Admit that you're the father. You don't ha

Raven's POV Wednesday morning, I woke up at five feeling like I was going to die. The nausea hit me so hard I barely made it to the bathroom before throwing up everything from dinner the night before. "This is getting worse," Breeze said worried. "Maybe we should see a doctor." "We can't," I said wiping my mouth with shaking hands. "If I go to the pack doctor everyone will know for sure that I'm pregnant." "They already know," Breeze pointed out. "You showed them the crystal remember?" "Knowing and confirming are two different things," I said. "Besides, I can't afford a doctor right now." I brushed my teeth and got dressed. My stomach was churning and the thought of eating anything made me want to throw up again. At school, I could barely focus. During the first period, I had to ask to use the bathroom twice. During second period, I fell asleep at my desk, and the teacher had to wake me up. By lunch, I was exhausted and felt like I was going to pass out. I went to the l
