Sofia's POV.
"Will you help us with this fighting prowess of yours? I'd wager all the men would be scared once they hear of your victories." Alex teased.I smiled and focused on my meal, I'd love to continue bantering with him but I was still worried. I should have sensed mate by now but everything remained the same.I began to suspect that I'd make a huge mistake of agreeing to whatever I was doing here."Our men are very brave, they wouldn't be scared of a mere woman." Luna bragged.I found her words fascinating and insulting at the same time, a wicked smile graced the corner of my lips."They are brave but I dare say even the best of them won't last longer than ten moves against me in a friendly tussle," I said. They were amazed by my confidence."Are you challenging the best of our warriors?""I wouldn't call that a challenge, it's a fact.""You're good with the sword and rumor has it that no one has ever won against you in a sword fight so that is your main forte.""Would you like to arm wrestle with me?""It would be considered unfair to arm wrestle with a woman, you were taught by training officials, I was self-taught.""My father trained me himself, are you calling him weak?""I dare not, you win."I burst into laughter and began to reach for the dessert, I was stress-eating, I needed to find my mate!"So what do you think of our noble pack?" Luna asked."Elegant, just as you are, I haven't ventured into the pack proper but I definitely will!" I replied excitedly."Of course, you will, if you need any help you can come to me, I'll be glad to." She said with a wicked form plastered on her face.I pretended not to notice the sarcasm in her tone."Thank you for the offer, Luna," I said, hiding the disgust in my tone."Oh please! Call me Elena." She said,I nodded and said no more, she was trying to trap me but I resorted to dealing with her tactics later. My mother did well in teaching me against such shameless women.I initially had nothing against her but I suspected that we wouldn't get along."Sofia, it's quite confusing seeing that you've been friendly with anyone and entertaining us with your kind presence all day but haven't acknowledged the presence of your mate, are you being shy right now?" Someone suddenly said teasingly. My heart stopped momentarily and the fork in my hand dropped to the plate, luckily the sound was drowned by their laughter and I turned my head to the direction to which someone pointed, and just across the table sat my supposed mate.Butterflies fluttered in my belly, not for the mate feeling or attraction but because of his godly and out-of-the-world look, across me sat the most handsome man I'd ever set my eyes on, his hair seemed to glow and I could have sworn I saw a twinkle in his eye.His looks could be compared to that of a god, no! That of an Adonis, he surely was the God of handsomeness. He sat there lazily in all his glory looking as arrogant as ever, he didn't even spare me a glance and I smirked. It was expected of him to put on his air of pride and arrogance and I don't care. The proper thing was to acknowledge his presence and greet him.I caught myself gaping at him and quickly recollected myself and regained my composure, something was amiss, my nostrils didn't glare up neither did I feel any force of attraction or response from my wolf. The mate bond was there and neither was a link or anything, I cocked my head sideways, was I hallucinating?I clearly remember sensing the mate when he came to pick up Mata as his substitute bride at my pack but I intentionally masked it and pretended I didn't know.I knew from the onset he was my mate and expected the bond to be there but I can't sense it, this meant trouble! My mind flashed back to when my conscience had pricked me for keeping mute about being mute and I justified my actions with the excuse that he had my already chosen mate. The turmoil inside of me was brewing a storm that I had to conceal with a smile. I decided against saying a word to him and averted my gaze back to my food, I pretended not to hear what was being said and I could almost hear him chuckle, I sighed and lifted my head, and looked at him.Our eyes met and his gaze held mine.I could feel a burning sensation inside of me that wasn't the mate bond, was I lusting after the arrogant bastard? I was about to look away when he smirked at me.I was confused at first, why was he smirking? But then he cocked his eyebrow to depict his mockery and his arrogance was evident in his eyes. The message was loud and clear. He had obviously realized what I was going through, his gaze held mockery and disdain, my temper flared up and I slightly banged my hand on the table as I looked away, it made a little sound and didn't attract much attention. I wiped my mouth with a napkin impatiently and stood up from the table.I bowed slightly as a fake smile was plastered on my face."Thank you for the meal, I haven't tasted something this delicious in almost forever however I'd like to retreat to my room right now and would be glad if a maid will show me to my room, I am exhausted from the journey, and would hate to bother you with my troubles, thank you for the warm reception once more," I said politely. They were shocked by my abrupt leave but I didn't wait for an answer before I turned to leave and Freya appeared almost immediately and led me to my room.EpilogueAuthor's POV Martinez rushed out of the pack house in desperation, he didn't have a certain direction but he knew that he had to find Sofia and his mother before anything happened to them. Martinez reached the streets but he stopped running, he closed his eyes and tried communicating with his mother through the mind link. 'Mother, where are you, please respond' Martinez pleaded inwardly and waited for a while but there was no response. He was about to walk again when he heard something through the mind link. 'She's about to throw me off the cliffMartinez's eyes widened when he heard this, he ran to the only place that had a waterfall and a cliff. He rushed to the place and he met Sofia there as well. His eyes widened when he saw Elena holding his mother's neck with a knife placed on it and worse, being close to the edge of the cliff. Martinez sauntered quickly to Sofia's side and she looked at him. "What are you doing here?" Sofia asked, worriedly. "I should be ask
Author's POV. Elena smiled to herself and lowered her knees beside him. "I have always wanted this for all the maltreatment which I endured with you, for all the times you cheated on me and secretly humiliated me" Elena smiled more broadly, relishing each second in which he slowly died. Elena traveled her hands to the spot where she stabbed him, she pulled out the knife and quickly stabbed him in the temple, straight into his brain. Alpha Jose gasped and his eyes remained wide open, he was dead. Elena chuckled and tears filled her eyes. She regretted wasting her time with such a person, spending so many years with such an appreciative fellow. Her life was truly a nightmare but now, Alesix would become the Alpha and they would become a happy family. Elena stood up and walked to the windows, she opened them and walked to the bathroom, she washed her hands and continued smiling to herself, in the mirror. She left the bathroom and quickly changed her clothes and disposed of the ol
Author's POV. Martinez was among the Rebels training them then he showed the older ones their next strategies for defeating Alpha Jose's army if they decided to retaliate against the death of their Alpha. Their first plan was to capture Alpha Jose and kill him, though Martinez knew that Alesix would not be in support of his plans but there was no other way. They would not only kill Alpha Jose but imprison Elena. Elena was surely in partnership with Alpha Jose in all his deeds and she had to be punished as well for supporting him. Martinez noticed something was wrong when he mentioned Elena's name, there was this strangeness among them and it didn't go unnoticed. Martinez had also noticed that they had been acting strange for a while, somewhat nervous and reluctant about a few things. He didn't ask them if anything was wrong because he wanted to avoid any awkward situation. He knew who to ask and he hoped that the person wouldn't lie to him. After discussing the strategies with
Author's POV. Sofia was about to speak again but Martinez covered her lips with his hand and placed his finger on his lips, telling her to be mute. Martinez wasn't scared of him catching them. He was prepared to kill him for the havoc he caused his family, Martinez wanted to eliminate him for the years of pain which he gave him. He would never forgive Alpha Jose for destroying the happiness in his life and treating his mother like a piece of dirt, all these years. The memories of how his father died came to his mind and it caused his anger to surge. Sofia, whose gaze was on the ceiling, looked at Martinex and was shocked to see blood dripping from his nose. It scared her to see such. Sofis tried speaking but Martinez shook his head and tightened his grasp on her lips. The footsteps suddenly halted and Sofia noticed that he began walking backwards. She heard a metal clang and then silence. Martinez looked up and noticed that Alpha Jose was gone as well. He wasn't relieved about
Author's POV. Sofia was stunned by what he said, she looked at him and it made her lose focus. Martinez's eyes were still widened as he released her hand and the lantern fell from his other hand. He lost the connection with her magic and couldn't see anything again. “Mother” Martinez panicked, tears were stinging his eyes as he tried to think about whom he just saw. It was like an imagination to him, or maybe a kind of illusion that was made to deceive him. His mother had lost her mind, she left and never returned. “I thought your mother was dead or rather missing, …this means…” Sofía trailed off in shock as it dawned on her that his mother was never missing. She was captured and kept in this place for several years. Sofia knew that the only culprit behind this was Alpha Jose. “She never disappeared, she never left me” his voice shook as painful tears dropped from his eyes. He had thought his mother left since she couldn't handle the grief, and he never hated her for it. He u
Author's POV. Elena's presence was domineering, and they were aware that she wasn't bluffing at all. They might love Sofia and support her ambition to become the Alpha, but they were afraid for their lives. Though they were going to challenge Alpha Jose and Luna Elena, but not in this form. They had Violetta, who was the youngest, and she lost her mother in such a gruesome manner. They couldn't allow Elena to kill the little child who hasn't started a future. The rebels felt disappointed by their cowardice but they were unable to sacrifice their families for a meaningless cause. If they had died at war, then it would have been for greater achievement, but that wasn't the case. “Now that you all are under my jurisdiction and authority, I need you to continue training with Sofia but at the last minute, you will abandon her” Elena ordered with a frown on her lips. The rebels weren't surprised by her evil instructions, but they were unhappy about the betrayal and hurt they would cau
