Avery's POV

I couldn't believe what was happening. Alpha Red had just rejected me as his mate, and now he was pinning me down, his body pressed against mine. My world was crumbling around me, and I felt like I was drowning in a sea of despair.

I tried to push him off me, but he was too strong. All my attempts were futile, and I felt like I was trapped beneath him. In a desperate bid to make him stop, I bit down on his lip, tasting the metallic tang of his blood.

He pulled back, his eyes flashing with anger, and I took advantage of the momentary distraction to slap him across the face. The sound of the slap echoed through the room, and for a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us palpable.

Tears filled my eyes as Alpha Red's face twisted in a snarl. He wrapped his hand around my throat, his fingers closing around my windpipe like a vice. “ How dare you to do that to me?,” he growled, his voice low and menacing.

I felt a surge of fear, but I refused to back down.
