The director’s assistant forced out a choked, awkward laugh...too sharp, too quick...his eyes glued to the mailman as if the uniform alone demanded worship.

They both bowed stiffly, muttered their goodbyes, and hurried out like frightened rats.

Scarlet watched them go with a slow, wicked smile stretching across her lips.

“So,” she said, her voice dripping venomous satisfaction, “that means Beta Alaric really did connive with that scheming, plastic-faced bitch Liora.”

Mira scoffed and tossed her braids behind her shoulder. “Obviously. You think Liora has the brains to pull something that complicated by herself? Please. Her wolf probably needs Google Maps to find her own moral compass.”

Scarlet snorted. “Bitch doesn’t even have one.”

The director cleared his throat sharply as if reminding them he existed. “Ladies… I understand your frustrations but...”

“You understand shit,” Mira snapped before he finished. “You wanna pretend this didn’t happen? After what they tried? Fuck no.”

Grey’s voice cracked through the lecture hall like a whip. “You didn’t have to fucking hit me!”Scarlet turned slowly, eyes burning, the room already buzzing with whispers and shock. Her knuckles still throbbed from where they’d met his chest. She felt it all...the sting, the rage, the humiliation, the satisfaction.“Yes,” she said coldly, stepping closer. “I fucking hit you. And what exactly are you going to do about it?”The words landed harder than her fist.Grey’s heart sank so violently he actually staggered back a step. His mouth opened, then closed. Whatever response he’d prepared...anger, sarcasm, arrogance it died on his tongue.Because she wasn’t the girl who used to soften for him anymore. She was sharp now. The professor’s voice thundered across the hall moments later, sentencing them to detention, but Scarlet barely heard it. Grey’s eyes stayed locked on her, stunned, like he was only just realizing how completely he’d lost her. They walked out in silence. The hallway fe

The Lycan vanished the instant footsteps echoed down the corridor. One second he was there and the next, the air snapped shut like nothing had ever existed in that space. Just cold silence and the faint scent of ozone left behind.Scarlet barely had time to steady her pulse before the door creaked open.Mira stumbled in.She didn’t just walk...she dragged chaos with her. A crate of alcohol bottles clinked and scraped across the floor, glass knocking glass like nervous teeth. Cigarette cartons spilled from her arms, rolling everywhere. She kicked the door shut with her heel, muttering curses under her breath.“Fucking… stupid… all of it’s fucking stupid,” Mira slurred, bending awkwardly to pick up a bottle and failing.Scarlet stepped forward instinctively. “Mira...”Mira looked up.Her laugh was sharp, broken,“Oh. You’re here?” Her eyes were bloodshot, rimmed red. “Of course you are. You always fucking are.”Scarlet’s chest tightened. “You shouldn’t be drinking like this. Or smoking.

The Lycan shrugged his broad shoulders like the weight of the world didn’t sit on them, like centuries of blood, betrayal, and power weren’t stitched into his spine.“Wouldn’t it be a fucking joy,” he said lightly, voice edged with mockery, “if the people found out their precious Lycan isn’t dead after all?”Scarlet stiffened beside him.The night wind tugged at her hair, cold fingers brushing her skin, but it wasn’t the chill that made her uneasy, it was the casual way he said it. Like resurrection was a joke. Like chaos was a party trick. He smirked, eyes gleaming faintly silver. “Relax. Don’t bother your pretty little head about it. For now, you just enjoy your time. Live as Ruby my daughter in secret.” His gaze slid to her face, sharp and knowing. “And Scarlet my wife publicly.”That did it.Scarlet exhaled hard, a sound halfway between a sigh and a laugh that held no humor. She pulled her hand out of his grasp, fingers curling into fists at her sides.“I don’t think it’s that fuc

Night fell like a fucking curse. That choking kind that pressed against the walls of the Lycan mansion, crawling through cracks, seeping into bones. The kind of night that made old ghosts stretch and grin. The Lycan was gone before the moon reached its peak.He didn’t say goodbye. He never did when it mattered. One second he was there and the next, the air felt emptier, colder, like something sacred had been ripped out again. Scarlet understood why. Too many eyes. Still, the emptiness clawed at her chest. Scarlet retreated to her changing room. She stripped, tossing her clothes aside, hands shaking more than she wanted to admit. She pulled on an oversized shirt, the fabric soft against scars that never truly stopped aching. When she lay down, exhaustion slammed into her like a drug. Sleep took her fast. She was standing in a corridor she knew too well.Black stone. Flickering torches. The smell of iron and rot thick in the air. Her bare feet stuck to the floor with every step. Her

The Lycan’s hand pressed against Scarlet’s chest, warm. She flinched like she’d been burned.“Don’t,” she snapped, shoving his hand away with more force than she intended. Her breath came like broken glass scraping her lungs. “Just...don’t fucking touch me.”The moonhealer froze, eyes darting between them like a prey animal trapped between two predators. The Lycan straightened slowly, his jaw tightening. That softness from earlier vanished, replaced by something cold, controlled, dangerous. A king pulling his crown back into place.“She’s under extreme stress,” the moonhealer said carefully, breaking the silence. “Her body shut down from emotional overload. She needs rest....Lycan”The Lycan lifted a single finger. The moonhealer shut the fuck up instantly.“If anyone,” the Lycan said, voice low and lethal, “finds out I’m still alive...if a single whisper leaks from this room, I will hunt you down myself. I don’t care how deep you hide. I don’t care who you pray to. I’ll know.”The t

“This is fucked up. I’m losing my goddamn mind.” Scarlet’s voice came out broken, shredded by panic as her heart slammed against her ribs like it wanted out. The Lycan stood right in front of. He was not a ghost. He was fucking real. She staggered backward at first, boots scraping against the marble floor, palms slick with sweat. The Lycan smiled. That calm, knowing curve of his lips made her skin crawl. Her knees trembled violently, fear ripping through her in ugly, uncontrollable waves. “No,” she whispered hoarsely. “No, no, no…”Her wolf stirred violently inside her chest, pacing, snarling. He’s alive. The realization hit like a punch to the gut. Scarlet swallowed hard, forcing herself forward one shaky step at a time. Every nerve in her body screamed, but something stronger dragged her closer. Her fingers trembled as she reached out and brushed the hem of his dark top.It was warm. Her wolf exploded and her breath broke. The next second, Scarlet lost it completely. She shoved
