Adrian’s POV

My wife moved out of our room tonight. The thought of it made me defeated.

I almost dragged her back. I was not above begging her. Going in my knees to plead for forgiveness was the least I’d do to have her back.

I tried everything I could possibly do. I pleaded, I pouted, I even pledged to keep her in the loop of every of my decisions. She just was having it.

My wife, although shy and reserved, was stubborn as well. She was fiesty and resolute in a way that just made me love her more.

Memories of how she used to be came to mind and I couldn’t help but smile. She was a very outgoing and caring girl.

She had started to open up to me in the last few days but I fear that today , with everything that happened with her father, I may she undone all the progress and trust I’d garnered.

Now, as I paced in front of the doors leading to the new room she had now chosen to stay, I was restless and curious.

It was currently past eight. The lights filtered out from the creak of space beneath the door. I contemplated barging in, demanding we returned to our room immediately.

That would be on brand for me since I was Adrian Maserati. I always got what I wanted. But I find that my wife is a new exception to that rule.

If my rivals or competitors were to hear of this, they’d definitely think d been cloned. My reputation as the devil in the business world would crumble beneath my feet as I kneeled forgiveness to my wife.

Before I could think better of it, I raised my fist to knock on her doors. Tap. Tap. Tap.

I held my breath in the silence that followed, my pulse roaring loudly as I stood waiting, hoping, praying she would answer. She does after a few agonizing seconds that I held my breath.

The door swung open, and there she stood in a baggy shirt that looked familiar. The hem of the shirt falling to her mid thigh, giving light to her smooth creamy legs that ran bare beneath.

My hands itched to reach for her, to pull her close — but I couldn’t. Not when she was still angry with me.

“Ahem,” she cut through my perverted gaze. The moment my eyes fell in hers, I realized just how crazed I was about her. I wanted to kiss her again, make up for everything that I did and didn’t do.

I would have fallen to my knees and confessed every sin I’d committed since consciousness first found me — in this life and every one that came before it.

*Shit. I was down bad.*

“What do you want, Adrian?” She asked, clearly exhausted and done with me.

I scratched the back of my head. “Uh…uhm.” The truth was, I hadn’t thought that far ahead. I didn’t have a reason — not one I could put into words, anyway. I just needed to see her.

“Could you make it quick, I’d like to go to bed.” She leaned against the door frame, arms loosely crossed, a small glint of frustration etched in her gaze.

“I came to apologize, baby.” I continued, “I am really sorry about lying to you. About everything.”

She stilled at that. The shift was subtle, the way her lips parted, the way she blinked up at me as if I had cursed her to death. (I would never do that by the way)

I supposed they wouldn’t. I didn’t do apologies. I never had to.

I was Adrian bloody Maserati. Heir to the Maserati name.

“Oh,” she whispered. Her brows furrowed, her gaze locked on mine, digging as if to find some ulterior motive. I’d usually have one while dealing with others, but not to my wife.

The silence stretched between us, thin and fragile.

“Say something,” I said quietly. Although, It came out more vulnerable than I intended.

“Adrian—,” she started with a sigh, her gaze averting from mine as she ran a hand through her hair. “I don’t know what you want me to tell you..”

“Just tell me that you forgive me, or that you will.” I took a small step forward, taking in the scent of her sweet scent. “Tell me you’ll come back to me, to our room.” My voice dropped, “Mmhmm?”

“I..Adrian..” she exhaled deeply, her voice small but filled with enough conviction to keep me grounded. “I…I can’t Adrian.”

I felt my heart drop in that moment.

“I’m not coming back with you,” she affirmed, her stance steady and her voice confident and resolute, with a finality that gutted me. “Do you even know why I left?”

“Because of your father?” I tried.

She shook her head sharply, “No!” Her gaze meets mine again, sharp and unflinching. “It’s because I don’t trust you Adrian, you confuse me, you lie to me, you say things in this ambiguous manner that just grates at my nerves and my brain and I just…” She stopped, pressing her lips together. “I can’t do it anymore.”

The weight of her words pressed firmly against my chest. I knew I was guilty of complicating things. My ways were unchanged, I had resulted to threats and hostage taking.

She was human after all, not privy to my world and how things usually went. I couldn’t really expect her to understand me.

I kept secrets, withheld information that she should know and the sum of all my actions led to this. I couldn’t tell her but it was for a good reason.

From what I found, information she wasn’t ready for could potentially harm her, cause her pain and I couldn’t do that to her.

I’d rather she hated me than put her in pain for a second. My skin crawled at the thought of her in any pain.

“Baby.” my voice came out softer than I intended. “I promise you, from now on, I’ll tell you the truth. No more lies, no more games. Just please…” I swallowed. “Come back to the room with me.”

“Adrian…”

“I promise I’ll never lie to you again. Whatever I’m planning, whatever I’m thinking? you’ll know. All of it.” My voice cracked at the edges, and I didn’t bother hiding it. “Just… come back. Please.”

I didn’t care how I looked standing there, unraveling at her doorstep. I didn’t care about any of it.

‘I’d even kneel. I would get on both knees on this cold floor if it meant she’d come back to me.’

And so I did.

She let out a small gasp at the sight of my sudden action.

I sank to my knees before she could say another word, grabbing a hold of her hands, pleading as I gazed up at her confused and shocked expression.

Even I surprised myself at how easily I knelt to apologize. This was all new territory for me.

“Adrian, please get up.” She knelt down to brig me up but I didn’t budge, not until she accepts to come back with me.

I was still on my knees in front of my wife when a voice cut in from a distance to my right. Trepidation washed over me before I could even look up.

“Boss….oh!”

Shit! This was embarrassing.

Adrian’s POV Fixing my cufflinks, I exited the house with Barrett trailing a step behind me. My chest tightened at the thought of leaving my wife behind again—alone for another night. Perhaps, by the time I returned, she would have changed her mind. A faint smile gives at my lips at the possibility, even thought it was unlikely with her stubborn self. As we approached the car, I felt the familiar shift of myself slipping into the cold mask I was known for. In no time, we arrived at the warehouse. Colton hurried to my side the moment I stepped out of the car, filling me in on everything before I’d even straightened my jacket. Apparently some men had shown up claiming authority over shipments at the port. They had interrupted every movement and made it impossible for my workers to load. I already knew who was behind it. It had the fingerprints of my rivals’ work all over it. To think they’d send thugs to my warehouse. Wrong fucking move. I took off my jacket and handed it to C

Like the sight burned him, I watched Barrett turn around immediately.‘Good thinking.’He refused to see me on my knees in front of my wife. Deep down, I didn’t even care. If it meant my wife would return, I’d do it in front of a crowd. I’d even sell tickets. Hell, if even shoot a small film of the whole damn thing myself. From my kneeling position, She pulled me to my feet, her hand warm around my arm, and I held onto that small touch longer than I should have.Could I take it as her forgiving me? I glanced at my wife and she averted her gaze, but I didn’t miss the small flush creeping up her skin or the way she bit her lips as it tilted into a shy smile. She must have found the whole thing funny. ‘Do I start a circus now?’I pulled her close with one swift motion, taking advantage of the small opening she gave. Her hands flew to my che

Brianna’s POV Barrett scurried in, his eyes observing, taking in the scene that played out immediately. “Sir?” Adrian spat, “Get him out of here right now.” His words were sharp and clipped, cold in a way that made even me do a double take. I remained frozen in shock, trepidation washing over me like baptismal water. The scene unfolding before me was like a dream. Never in a million years would I have expected it. My father let out a harsh scoff, pulling out of Barrett’s hold. “Don’t touch me! I can walk out myself.” He straightened his jacket with trembling hands, his fury barely contained. Before leaving, he turned to me one last time, his glare sharp enough to wound. “I regret taking you in Brianna, you are a disappointment to the Stewart family.” His face was tight with disdain, disappointment etched so deeply it made my chest ache. I could only look down in response, unable to watch him. It was the same look he had always given me whenever I disappointed him in a way or

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 25

Brianna’s POVI sat still, confusion settling heavily in my chest as I watched Adrian end the call. Adrian hangs up, his face etching with a seriousness that replaced the easy look he had merely seconds prior.“Is everything alright?” I questioned again, suddenly growing nervous with every passing look in his face. The unease continued to creep up in me with every second he doesn’t answer. He doesn’t respond. Instead, Adrian sits up, holding me up still. His hands slid firmly around my waist, lifting me effortlessly as he rose to his feet with me in his arms.Instinctively, my hands curled around his neck for balance, my pulse quickening for reasons that had nothing to do with what we’d been doing moments ago. When he gently placed me back on the floor, my bare feet met the ground and I immediately stepped back, searching his face.“What’s wrong, Adrian?” I asked again, my voice lower now. “Is Emily okay?”That was the only thing that came to mind at his serious and cold expression.

Adrian’s POVI was barely holding on. I was filled to the brim, my heart thumping beneath my chest in a wild erratic symphony. My hands roamed my wife’s body, her sweet little sounds driving me wild with need. I tried to hold myself, to control myself, to pace myself. I couldn’t though. She drove me utterly mad, her eyes were filled with a need almost similar to mine. Her body, a whimpering mess under my hands that explored without restraint. I press my lips against hers again, loving the way she moaned softly against me, her back arching in response. It pleased me to know she also felt what I felt even though min was more maddening. Her sweet scent enveloped me, casing my brain along with it. I was a goner for sure. My dick ached painfully in my pants, straining and waiting to be freed. I could tear through her clothes right now, take her right here and right now. Damning the other frivolities. But I couldn’t.With my wife I had to be careful, I had to treat her with gentle care a
