Brianna’s POV

“What do you mean ‘what’?” I snapped at Adrian, rushing towards him, despite my sharp words. “How did you get yourself cut? You said you’d be…”

“Ahem.”

Barrett’s voice cut in from behind Louis. I felt myself freeze in mortification. I was so enraged and worried that I didn’t even realize he was there.

Adrian must not have remembered too, because at noticing my reaction, he turned to him and dismissed him with a lazy wave of his hand. “You may leave us, Barrett.”

“Alright, Boss.”

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 53

Adrian’s POV The doors opened to a very displeased Ezra. That fucker just grates on my nerves so bad. Something bout him just makes me tick. Maybe the way he looked at my wife once the door opened to her or the way I can see the slight softness in his gaze upon her.Something just wasn’t right.I returned his sharp gaze with a smirk. I could very well say that the feeling between us was mutual because he did not look happy to see me either. “What the fuck!” He growled, his face tightening the moment his eyes met mine. “What the fuck is he doing here? Weren’t you supposed to fetch her, alone.” He pointed in my direction, speaking to Elsa like I wasn’t even in the room.“Don’t ask me, ask your sister,” Elsa waved a dismissive hand toward Brianna. “And her possessive husband.”The way she said the word *sister* grated on my nerves. If I had my way, I’d ruin them just as they’d ruined Brianna.Brianna’s gaze was downturned. She had long pulled her hand from mine, fingers fidgeting nervo

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 52

Adrian’s POVWe finally arrived at the Stewart house — the mansion big and dark. It lacked warmth, and it made me feel sorry for Brianna.Growing up here must have been quite dampening to her spirit.Elsa’s car moved ahead of us. I watched the guard’s attention shift to us before he nodded, letting her through and then us. Elsa’s taillights glowed red ahead of us, cutting through the gathering dusk. There was something so wrong and eerie about this place. The moment the wrought iron gates creaked shut behind us, I already felt trapped. That, was saying something. A lot in fact.I glanced over at Brianna in the passenger seat. Her hands were folded tightly in her lap, knuckles pale. She hadn’t said much since we left our house, and now her usual spark and spunk seemed dimmed, swallowed by the shadow of this place.“Are you okay, my love?” I asked softly, glancing in her direction. She wasn’t looking good to be honest. She was a bundle of nerves that could snap any moment. She gave a s

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 51

Adrian’s POVBrianna took off in the direction of the staircase. She was going to get changed. Normally, I’d have followed. To bother her or to just stare at her as she changed— not that she would let me, but a man can dream. Right? But not today and not right now. I had other matters to tend to— and by other matters, I’m talking about Elsa who sat comfortably on my sofa. In my house. Her confidence surprised me, I won’t lie. Maybe her sister hadn’t narrated the story well enough. If not for the sole fact that I was trying to stay in my wife’s good graces, hell would have broken loose right here.It was a real shame that looks couldn’t kill, because with the glare I was drilling into the back of my head from my position, she’d already be pooled on the floor in her own blood.I still loathed the way she looked as my wife spoke to her. The slight indignation in her face, like she couldn’t be bothered to talk to her. I couldn’t help but notice the slight shift in energy from my wife’s

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 50

Brianna’s POVSitting quite comfortably in the living room was Elsa. The very last person I thought would come here. I didn’t even know what to feel. It was almost like a dream.Elsa and I were never close. We didn’t speak, we didn’t argue— we just never spoke. She treated me like I never existed in the house and considering the sheer size of it and how well I’d made myself appear small, it was very easy for her to do so.That is why I never expected her to come here in search of me. Like, never. She didn’t even come to the wedding. So why now? Hope was a dangerous drug and I may have taken the wrong dose. Somewhere deep in my heart, I felt a strange sensation, likened to joy. It felt nice to see that she came here… for me.Maybe she did care after all. In her own little way. “Brianna,” she called once she turned at the sound of my footsteps approaching. She gave a curt nod to Adrian trailing after me. “Adrian.”“Hey, Elsa.” I greeted slowly, moving closer to where she sat on the

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 49

Brianna’s POV "Wait, what?" Adrian cut me off, his voice dropping. "No. Why? Why did you ask that? Do you remember something?" Frustration flickered through my headache. "No, I am only asking because of the dream. I saw…. Wait. What is actually going on with this 'remembering' thing? Every single time, I'm always being asked if I remember something.” “Even Andy asks the same thing. What am I supposed to remember?” I added, growing agitated. “Am I missing something. I feel like I'm completely out of the loop here" I looked him dead in the eye. "Are you... are you hiding something from me, Adrian?" Adrian blinked, looking momentarily caught off guard. "What? No, no, I'm not. I'm not hiding anything from you, Bri." I wasn't entirely convinced, especially by his quick denial, but my head was aching too much to push it. I dismissed it with a sigh and continued explaining. "No, I just... it was a really vivid dream. It was a bit weird, but I think I saw you and Andy in your family home

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 48

Brianna’s POV The sight before me was entirely unfamiliar. I felt like a hovering ghost, an invisible spectator overlooking the lives of strangers. Yet, while the characters before me was new and unfamiliar, the courtyard looked painfully familiar. There was one thing to note though, It closely resembled the one Adrian had taken me to earlier—the same building standing in the distance, the same wide, open yard, the same treehouse watching over everything from above. There was something about that treehouse that pulled at me, stirring emotions I couldn’t quite understand. I counted three kids on spread across the courtyard. A little girl was pedaling her bicycle, while another played with a small black puppy. The dog was young, its movements clumsy and bursting with energetic life. Then, my eyes found a little boy. He had dark, curly hair and striking gray eyes. He was looking down at the girl with a smile that felt entirely too familiar. The girl herself looked painfully famili

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 6

Adrian’s POV “Who am I?” My brow furrows as I asked her, in utter confusion. This was kind of… awkward. Definitely not what I had expected. I had expected to find my soon to be wife, relish in her presence and kneel in private that we were finally together. I expected her to kind of remember…me.

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 5

I froze the moment he stepped closer. Mi amor? Mi amor? Was I in the wrong house? Why is he looking at me like a dog looks at a chew toy? Is this Adrian or his alter ego.My face must depict the look of utter confusion and shock. I could be a mood chart. My body refused to move, as if the air arou

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 4

I stare dumbfounded around me. Unable to process what was happening. There were about 10 people out to welcome me, their faces etched with a permanent genuine smile. It was almost like I’d been expected. My heart lurched in my chest. I wasn’t used to this kind of greeting. I didn’t even know what to

  • The Replaced Bride’s Fortune   Chapter 3

The following day, a car arrived at the Stewart mansion. A white Escalade as I peeped from the attic windows of my room.I didn’t get a wink of sleep the whole night. My eyelids burned at the lack of moisture but I didn’t even care.“They’re here for me.” I whisper to myself. Okay, this was really
