MasukExactly at 10:30 p.m., I had to leave the club. The alcohol was not even doing anything to push away the heaviness in my heart. I drove my Rolls Royce Sweptail and parked it in my parking spot before stepping out.
“Good evening, boss," the servants lined up, greeting, their heads cast down.
I ignored them, and walked past them, heading straight to the entrance door. My head is still pounding very hard as if drumming with a hammer.
The headache is something else.
All I need right now is a cold bath and sleep…. I know the sleep will be hard, considering that she is still occupying my mind.
I sighed heavily and tried to push the door when I suddenly heard a voice inside them followed by giggling. My angry brow cringed into confusion.
I immediately opened the door and was instantly greeted by Madam Calantha. And besides her was…. What the hell? Harper?
The confusion flattered away and I scoffed, the irritation creeping back.
“Oh my," noticing my presence, Madam Calantha swirled around, her face breaking into a wide grin as she hurried to embrace me into a warm hug. “I told you, he is coming,” Mom turned to the smiling Harper sitting comfortably on the sofa with a glass of juice.
My furious gaze never leaves hers.
"Hi, happy birthday, Loggie,” she smiled and I met her with a hard look.
Loggie? Really?
"What is she doing here?” I scoffed, not even bothering to hide my distaste as I wiped the smiles off their faces.
“What’s wrong with you, son?" Mom indirectly tugged my left hand, confusion flashing in her eyes.
I snapped my head at my mom, my jaw clenching, “I asked a simple question, Mom," I snickered, and she eyed me carefully before rolling her eyes. She glared at me and then turned to suddenly uncomfortable Harper.
She masked her expression, smiling as she walked up to her. Uhmm, trust Madam Calantha to always know how to react in every damn situation.
“Get me grilled cheese with artisanal bread,” Mom ordered a few of the staff and they scrambled away to follow her instruction.
I glanced around the place, my picture was still on the decorated table, and beside it was 24k gold leaf chocolate cake, my favorite and premium champagne.
I knew it was Victoria’s hard work, this has always been the way she decorates every one of my birthdays. She will sit on the sofa waiting for me, even when I return or not, she will wait.
The smile on her face as she wished me happy birthday was priceless. Memories started flashing back, just the thought makes me realize how much I miss her. My heart clenched at the memories.
It was just the two of us. Mom never attends.
I lost a jewel.
“Feel relaxed and remember don’t drink alcohol because of the baby," Mom excitedly rubbed her tummy, Harper smiled, and that drew my attention back to them. Causing the lines on my face to deepen as I struggled to control my rage.
What dangerous game are you playing, Harper? Yes I know I fucked up big time but I paid this fool ransomly, so why f*****g crawling back into my life with a cheap tactic of being pregnant.
“We need to talk, son," Mom said, and I tore my sharp glare from Harper and moved my gaze to her. “Follow me," she nods to the closed door at the other side of the sitting room, at the extreme.
That is my mini house office.
I hesitated for a while but seeing the look on her face, I sighed and followed her though not without sending Harper a quick glare that had her gulped hard nervously.
We entered the room and she softly locked the door, turning to face me.
“Hmm, you didn’t tell me that your so-called bad luck of a wife had left," she chuckled lightly and my jaw clenched at her words.
“Why are we here?" I snapped and her face flushed instantly, the smile flattering away.
“Word son! You will not raise your voice at your mother, I don’t know what has come over you but I will not have you disrespect me,” she half yelled. "I raised you well,”
I wanted to laugh at her words, *raised well?* But instead, I nodded, running my tongue over my dry lips. Heaven knows that I am trying to control my raging nerves.
My initial plan was to ignore them and climb up but after seeing that fool sitting pretty on my sofa, I lost it.
“What is she doing here? I never remembered inviting her over," I asked sternly, my face darkened.
Mom seemed a bit taken back by my actions, “From how you have been acting, I could tell that you two didn't have any relationship but then why did you sleep with her,"
"It was just normal fling,”
“Fine but the main thing is that she is carrying your child, she is carrying the apparent heir to the Winston household in her stomach," her angry eyes shot back at me before they beamed into a cocky smile. ".... She did it, son!”
I snorted, my face grimacing in disgust. "I am not responsible for that thing in her stomach, that’s not my child!!” I spat, wiping the smirk off her face once more.
There was a brief silence between us before she finally let out a sardonic laugh, confusing me. “Really, son?" She taunted. “Did you use protection?" I gritted my teeth and looked away.
“Because of that barren good for nothing wife that I don’t know where Dominick got her from, you then think it takes forever to make a baby,"
“MOM!!" I snapped, raising my voice as my angry eyes glanced back at her. I am getting pissed off on how f*****g bad, she is talking about Victoria.
She has my damn baby in her stomach! Not like someone who suddenly got pregnant out of nowhere.
Mom chuckled lightly, dismissively shrugging her shoulders, “Look from the bright side, Logan. This has always been what we wanted, remember the inheritance in the Heritage assets management,” she said calmly, stepping forward. "We need that child in her womb, we have waited for seven years. Just think of what all those wealth and assets will do for us,"
I balled my fists, that has always been what she wanted….. power, and money!!! I have f*****g lifted the family to the world's best business chart on my own after Dad’s demise. I don’t need that old man’s shit.
I have even removed my mind from the assets in heritage management after Victoria couldn't conceive for years. I lost hope, mehh.
Having said that, she continued, “Now that Harper is carrying your child, all we need to do is to organize your engagement party,” she beamed but I scoffed.
“I’m not getting married to her! I am not even sure that thing in her stomach is mine," I scowled.
“Who cares!" She snapped, the anger flashing back in her eyes.
“Remember a DNA test will be conducted before releasing anything," I quipped back and a tiny reassuring smirk appeared on her lips. "Don’t panic son, I am certain that it is your child,”
I let out a sarcastic laugh, a lopsided grin forming on my face as I stared back at her with my hands tucked inside my pant pocket. “Hmm, fine since you want this marriage," I sneered and she frowned. "... I will personally be taking her to the hospital for a DNA test once the so-called pregnancy is nurtured to five weeks. I will show you that I am not responsible for that,”
Mom sighed, her frustration visible. “I still don't know why you are suddenly worked up, this has always been what we want but anyway, I’ll start preparing for the engagement. You can now keep waiting till five weeks to waste money on a test,” she taunted but I snorted in disgust.
“No engagement, no marriage until everything is confirmed,"
Victoria. Here we are heading straight to the party, I had to drop Kai at Magaret’s house. He will be staying there with Ella. I am going to the party with Matilda, she had mentioned that Bronwen would be coming. At first I wasn’t okay with that but he's her boyfriend, I can’t detect what goes on in their life and again, she said it was a way of him making it up for her the previous day that he stood her up. I accepted. And now we are inside the car with Derek driving us to the destination. As we pulled up to the venue, I could feel the excitement building up inside me. The joy that I would finally get to see Julian Saint Clair tonight. I didn't know if Logan would be coming, not like I care. The sound of camera shutters clicking and the humming chatter filling the air drew my attention and stared out the window. Derek carefully made our way through the crowded parking area with ease, expertly driving and maneuvering the car through the throng of paparazzi. The flashes from
Logan I lay sprawled on the bed. Bronson and Caleb scattered around me, all of us in our clothes from the night before. The room was a mess, with our shoes and bottles scattered everywhere. We had a long night yesterday, and I was actually paying the price now. My head was pounding, and my mouth felt dry. I tried to sit up, but a wave of nausea washed over me, and I fell back onto the pillow. Bronson and Caleb were snoring softly, oblivious to my misery. They said drinking would help me forget but it only ended up giving me a headache. My head hurts so bad. I lay back down and just as I was starting to drift off to sleep again, my phone rang. I ignored it but the constant beeping had me stirred around. I groaned and grabbed it, hoping it wasn't something serious. But when I stared at the screen with drowsy eyes, I saw my mother's name flashing on it. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should answer it or not. One thing, I was not fit for Madam Calantha's argument this
Logan “Fuck it!" I hissed and tugged hard on my tie, losing it. I stormed into my office and Bronson lifted his head from his phone and raised his brow at me. “What's up, bro?" He swung the chair around to face me. “Why are you fuming?" Is he her new lover? I chuckled, my lips curling down in annoyance. “They now go with nicknames," I clicked my tongue. “Vic." I mimicked his tone and my jaw tightened. “Who goes with nicknames? Are you alright, Logan?" “Do you know about Nexus Global Partners?" I asked instead, my attention shifting back to him. Bronson gave me a skeptical glance and inclined his head. “They are the new striving company," he shrugged nonchalantly. “...what about them?" So he's new to the line? And the fool is already all flirty. " Logan,” " I heard they are throwing a party," I snorted and Bronson blinked confusedly at me. “And?" I sighed and sat on my desk. “Victoria will be going," I said, recalling her statements. /" As for me, I am going.”/ My
Back to my office. It's another day for work. I have asked Margaret how she came about to know that wicked woman and she said when she was working in Switzerland. She had come there to eat ahd she happened to be serving her that day… that the woman contributed to her boss scacking her. The gist was long but the fact remains that truly someone else has confirmed how much of a wicked soul that woman is. I told her she was Logan’s mother but my concern was the look on her face after I said that. Her behavior was starting to make me suspicious again. I was starting to feel like there was something that she wasn’t telling me. I breathed out as a knock came on my door. I hope it's not Logan. “Come in." I mumbled and the door opened and Mr. Tom stepped in with a warm smile on his face. But what caught my attention was the young unfamiliar man beside him. He was talking, with broad shoulders with a confident stride. My gaze curiously trailed up to his hair. His dark gaur was p
Victoria. “You are back so soon?" I said, climbing down the staircase. “You left in a hurry, hope there is no problem?" I stopped at the last stairs. Ella closed the door as Matilda strode inside. She shrugged. " He didn't show up.” My brow slid up. "How?” " He said he has an emergency,” she sighed and plopped on the couch. “And did you ask him what emergency because he can’t fucking drag you outside and suddenly left you there unattended!" I said, striding to come sit on the couch as well. Kai rushed over and sat on top of my lap. “I was about to ask him but the call ended." “Then calm him back." Matilda gave her head a small shake. “He's no longer picking. I hope not bad has happened to him?" Really? A guy stood her up and this is what she asked. I rolled my eyes at her. And moved my attention toward the nylon in her hand. “What's this?" She followed my gaze and then sighed. “My stepping out can’t be in vain so I bought this at least….” She dramatically shrugged h
Bronwen. Beep- beep- beep- BEEP-beep-beep. I yawned and picked up my phone. Mom flashing on the screen. I picked it up. “Yes, Mom,” I said, my voice low and drowsy. The ringing tone had just woken me from my sleep. “The apartment that you said she was staying in. Nobody is there!" She uttered. I quickly sat upright in bed, my brow knitting in confusion. “What are you saying, mom?" “The caretaker there said it's a guesthouse.” My face paled at her words. WTF! " Hmm,” I immediately cleared my throat, rubbing my face to remove any traces of sleep still in my eyes. " Where are you now, mom?” "In front of the house.” She replied. I could detect her annoyance and frustration. " Who is with you there?” I asked, my head spinning anxiously. Madam Calantha sighed and spat out. “Mr. Bartram," “Okay, you know what?" I climbed down the bed, my mind was a jumble of thoughts, each one tangling with the next, making it hard to think straight. It felt like I was drowning in a sea of
