LOGINExactly at 10:30 p.m., I had to leave the club. The alcohol was not even doing anything to push away the heaviness in my heart. I drove my Rolls Royce Sweptail and parked it in my parking spot before stepping out.
“Good evening, boss," the servants lined up, greeting, their heads cast down.
I ignored them, and walked past them, heading straight to the entrance door. My head is still pounding very hard as if drumming with a hammer.
The headache is something else.
All I need right now is a cold bath and sleep…. I know the sleep will be hard, considering that she is still occupying my mind.
I sighed heavily and tried to push the door when I suddenly heard a voice inside them followed by giggling. My angry brow cringed into confusion.
I immediately opened the door and was instantly greeted by Madam Calantha. And besides her was…. What the hell? Harper?
The confusion flattered away and I scoffed, the irritation creeping back.
“Oh my," noticing my presence, Madam Calantha swirled around, her face breaking into a wide grin as she hurried to embrace me into a warm hug. “I told you, he is coming,” Mom turned to the smiling Harper sitting comfortably on the sofa with a glass of juice.
My furious gaze never leaves hers.
"Hi, happy birthday, Loggie,” she smiled and I met her with a hard look.
Loggie? Really?
"What is she doing here?” I scoffed, not even bothering to hide my distaste as I wiped the smiles off their faces.
“What’s wrong with you, son?" Mom indirectly tugged my left hand, confusion flashing in her eyes.
I snapped my head at my mom, my jaw clenching, “I asked a simple question, Mom," I snickered, and she eyed me carefully before rolling her eyes. She glared at me and then turned to suddenly uncomfortable Harper.
She masked her expression, smiling as she walked up to her. Uhmm, trust Madam Calantha to always know how to react in every damn situation.
“Get me grilled cheese with artisanal bread,” Mom ordered a few of the staff and they scrambled away to follow her instruction.
I glanced around the place, my picture was still on the decorated table, and beside it was 24k gold leaf chocolate cake, my favorite and premium champagne.
I knew it was Victoria’s hard work, this has always been the way she decorates every one of my birthdays. She will sit on the sofa waiting for me, even when I return or not, she will wait.
The smile on her face as she wished me happy birthday was priceless. Memories started flashing back, just the thought makes me realize how much I miss her. My heart clenched at the memories.
It was just the two of us. Mom never attends.
I lost a jewel.
“Feel relaxed and remember don’t drink alcohol because of the baby," Mom excitedly rubbed her tummy, Harper smiled, and that drew my attention back to them. Causing the lines on my face to deepen as I struggled to control my rage.
What dangerous game are you playing, Harper? Yes I know I fucked up big time but I paid this fool ransomly, so why f*****g crawling back into my life with a cheap tactic of being pregnant.
“We need to talk, son," Mom said, and I tore my sharp glare from Harper and moved my gaze to her. “Follow me," she nods to the closed door at the other side of the sitting room, at the extreme.
That is my mini house office.
I hesitated for a while but seeing the look on her face, I sighed and followed her though not without sending Harper a quick glare that had her gulped hard nervously.
We entered the room and she softly locked the door, turning to face me.
“Hmm, you didn’t tell me that your so-called bad luck of a wife had left," she chuckled lightly and my jaw clenched at her words.
“Why are we here?" I snapped and her face flushed instantly, the smile flattering away.
“Word son! You will not raise your voice at your mother, I don’t know what has come over you but I will not have you disrespect me,” she half yelled. "I raised you well,”
I wanted to laugh at her words, *raised well?* But instead, I nodded, running my tongue over my dry lips. Heaven knows that I am trying to control my raging nerves.
My initial plan was to ignore them and climb up but after seeing that fool sitting pretty on my sofa, I lost it.
“What is she doing here? I never remembered inviting her over," I asked sternly, my face darkened.
Mom seemed a bit taken back by my actions, “From how you have been acting, I could tell that you two didn't have any relationship but then why did you sleep with her,"
"It was just normal fling,”
“Fine but the main thing is that she is carrying your child, she is carrying the apparent heir to the Winston household in her stomach," her angry eyes shot back at me before they beamed into a cocky smile. ".... She did it, son!”
I snorted, my face grimacing in disgust. "I am not responsible for that thing in her stomach, that’s not my child!!” I spat, wiping the smirk off her face once more.
There was a brief silence between us before she finally let out a sardonic laugh, confusing me. “Really, son?" She taunted. “Did you use protection?" I gritted my teeth and looked away.
“Because of that barren good for nothing wife that I don’t know where Dominick got her from, you then think it takes forever to make a baby,"
“MOM!!" I snapped, raising my voice as my angry eyes glanced back at her. I am getting pissed off on how f*****g bad, she is talking about Victoria.
She has my damn baby in her stomach! Not like someone who suddenly got pregnant out of nowhere.
Mom chuckled lightly, dismissively shrugging her shoulders, “Look from the bright side, Logan. This has always been what we wanted, remember the inheritance in the Heritage assets management,” she said calmly, stepping forward. "We need that child in her womb, we have waited for seven years. Just think of what all those wealth and assets will do for us,"
I balled my fists, that has always been what she wanted….. power, and money!!! I have f*****g lifted the family to the world's best business chart on my own after Dad’s demise. I don’t need that old man’s shit.
I have even removed my mind from the assets in heritage management after Victoria couldn't conceive for years. I lost hope, mehh.
Having said that, she continued, “Now that Harper is carrying your child, all we need to do is to organize your engagement party,” she beamed but I scoffed.
“I’m not getting married to her! I am not even sure that thing in her stomach is mine," I scowled.
“Who cares!" She snapped, the anger flashing back in her eyes.
“Remember a DNA test will be conducted before releasing anything," I quipped back and a tiny reassuring smirk appeared on her lips. "Don’t panic son, I am certain that it is your child,”
I let out a sarcastic laugh, a lopsided grin forming on my face as I stared back at her with my hands tucked inside my pant pocket. “Hmm, fine since you want this marriage," I sneered and she frowned. "... I will personally be taking her to the hospital for a DNA test once the so-called pregnancy is nurtured to five weeks. I will show you that I am not responsible for that,”
Mom sighed, her frustration visible. “I still don't know why you are suddenly worked up, this has always been what we want but anyway, I’ll start preparing for the engagement. You can now keep waiting till five weeks to waste money on a test,” she taunted but I snorted in disgust.
“No engagement, no marriage until everything is confirmed,"
Logan “What’s up, bro?" I shake hands with Bronson before turning around to do the same to Caleb who had been sucking since his last encounter with Victoria. “We have been calling you but no answer. What is happening online, Logan?” Bronson asked, coming to take a seat beside me. But I sighed, I had long forgotten about that…. From time to time, my mind kept switching back to that young boy and that young lady at the hospital. I haven't met this woman if you ask me, I have tried_ had my mind wandered off but yet, I couldn’t picture anything. I haven't meant her. Honestly, I mean it. “Bro," “Hello," Caleb waved his hand on my face, jolting my senses back. I exhaled deeply, running my hand over my temple. “Frankly speaking, I didn’t know how that got out," I replied shortly and they both looked me up. “I don’t get it,” Caleb said. And Bronson shook his head thoughtfully, shifting forward. "But how did it get out, the internet is a mess meh. The little reputation that we are
Victoria Immediately, I rushed through the entrance door, my tear-filled eyes snapping around the place in search of Ella. And just in time, I spotted Sage coming out from the emergency unit. Holy heaven. Thank goodness! I tightened my nervous grip on my handbag and hurried in his direction. As I made my way through the people; both the visiting and the patients, I felt a familiar goosebumps as I passed someone. It was a familiar feeling, the feeling that only comes from one single person. “No he can’t be here," I murmured in my head, my heart skipping instantly. “Out of the way!" I heard the doctors yelling as more stretchers were being rolled inside the emergency unit. There was murmuring and whispering throughout the whole place as everyone moved around. Some were crying while others were busy waiting patiently for their loved ones. Gulping hard, I slowly turned around but was only met by the opening and closing of the entrance door. People coming and leaving. “But… I…
Logan "Let's go, let's go, let's go!" One of the doctors said as the sound of the stretcher's wheels could be heard rattling against the hospital floor, the heart monitor attached to the stretcher beeped rapidly as they hurried toward the emergency unit. I rushed through the hospital corridors, my eyes fixed on the stretcher ahead of me. The doctors and nurses were moving very fast, carefully carrying the small, fragile boy who looked exactly like me on the stretcher. The little boy's eyes were closed, and an oxygen pipe was secured over his nose. Lucas was right beside me, his face etched with worry. For some reason I am scared, praying that he survives. I don't know why.... I don't know if it was because of his strange resemblance to me or because he was still a child. I don't know, all I wanted was to make sure he was okay. Seeing the way blood was oozing out from his body and the help that the road safeties called was still delaying, I then had to take it upon myself and
Third person pov: It was past time for school closure yet nobody had come to pick Kai up. Other parents or guardians were coming to pick up their kids. Kai sat there, and just like a lost puppy, his baby's round blue eyes were searching for a familiar face. Either that of his nanny Ella, or that of Margaret. He wasn't used to his mom coming to pick him up from school so he wasn’t expecting her. He stretched his small neck around, even outside his class door. But he saw none. Just strange faces coming and leaving with other kids. “Calm down, your momma is coming soon, okay?" His class teacher, Mrs. Olivia, walked up and ruffled his hair, flashing him a reassuring smile. He nodded like a little baby. 1 minute passed…. 2 minutes… 3 minutesYet there was no sign of anyone coming to pick him. There was little or no one left in his class. Kai’s worried, adorable eyes shifted back to Mrs. Olivia, who nodded, offering him another uncomfortable smile before she checked her wristwat
Sitting behind my desk, I skimmed through the internet in nothing but pure rage. The picture of where Logan and I were kissing had been flying all over the internet from one blog to the other. How it got out is still surprising to me. Bet me, I know this is his doing. Fuck! I groaned, running my hand through my hair. That’s why he kissed me unaware, he already has everything planned. The mean comments though I have gotten used to them yet it hurts. Matilda has been calling but I just couldn’t bring myself to pick up the call. That asshole! It was his intention to spoil my image and drag me down the drain with him. This is not good for my reputation…. Fuck it!!! I screamed in my head when suddenly the door burst open, snapping me back to the present.“You… you can’t go in,” The secretary rushed after the angry-looking Harper as she strode inside my office. Lifting my head from my laptop, I leaned back in my chair and waved dismissively at the scared-looking secretary. " Go
Victoria It has been a week, and Logan has been avoiding me. No longer pestering me which I am grateful for. At least I will get to breathe. Matilda had gone to get Sage from the airport. He will be coming down to Los Angeles today, and Kai would be the happiest. I smiled at the thought as I walked out of the gate to pick Kai up from school. It was almost time for their school to close for the day, and Ella was not feeling too good. So I am obviously getting him from school today. Derek will not drive me, I will drive myself there. Stepping out of the gate, my gaze widened before it narrowed into a slit when I saw him leaning against his car. Ah… I thought that he was done pretending. Clearing my throat, I acted like I didn’t see him and went straight to open the old… not so fancy car that I requested Derek to get for me. But before I could enter, Logan immediately smashed the door closed, blocking the entrance with his huge arm. “What was that for?!" “Vicky," “Not t
