Sofero..

I watched as Arya narrated her ordeal to me; her voice echoed down the room. It was full of pain.

I was quiet; just her voice and the cranky noise from the cricket were all I heard.

I felt pity for her as she went on; at some point she had to stop and allow the tears to pour down. I couldn't believe she passed through all that; it hurts me more that I was going to add more to her pain.

When she mentioned her pack, my eyes widened in surprise. Memories keep flooding my head—painful memories I wanted to keep hidden.

I heard all her stories with rapt attention. At some point, her voice cracked, and she sniffed. She told me all and ended it with these words.

"Here I am, Sofera. I'm still wondering what will become of my fate here. I just wanted a father figure for my pup," she said, rubbing her stomach, which was getting bigger and bigger with each passing day.
