My mate, Kael, got killed by rogues while trying to save me. He left behind a debt of ten million and a child, not yet a year old. Out of guilt and longing for Kael, I refused the advances of many excellent werewolves and never accepted a second chance, mate. I worked endlessly to raise my child and pay off the debt. But during a business meeting at a hotel, I saw my mate—who was supposed to be dead—lying in bed with my stepsister, Lila.

Chapter 1

Today is my mate Kael’s death anniversary.

I placed a bouquet of flowers on his grave and rushed to a resort hotel for a business meeting with the manager.

When I reached there, in my haste, I entered the wrong room—a presidential suite. As realization dawned on me, I quickly turned around to leave, but just then, a familiar voice echoed in the bedroom.

"Kael, you're so smart! You transferred the company's assets in advance and then faked your death. Veya is still paying off your debt!"

"It's her fault for being so stupid! She doesn't even know the child she gave birth to was conceived through IVF. What kind of werewolf can't smell if the child is theirs or not? "

I walked back and peeked into the room through the crack in the door. What I saw made my body numb.

It was none but Kael, my mate who was supposed to be dead naked with my step-sister, Lila, engulfed in his arms.

"Are you sure she won't find out?" Lila asked, her voice tinged with unease.

"She's just a lowly Omega. Even if she learns the truth, she won't dare do anything. Once that foolish woman pays off my debts and raises the child, I'll take back everything that belongs to me." Kael said plainly.

I couldn’t believe I gave my everything to this person only to get betrayed in return. I felt like a hammer had smashed into my chest.

"Don't worry. My fake death plan was flawless! Right now, she would be probably crying over my grave," Kael mocked before flipping Lila beneath him. Soon, moans filled the room.

Anger, grief, and shock surged through me like a tidal wave, but I composed myself.

I knew I couldn't act rashly. I'm just an Omega. Against their combined schemes, I stood no chance.

I couldn't even let them know I had discovered the truth.

Suppressing my emotions, I turned and left, acting as if nothing had happened.

I even attended the meeting and confidently discussed the partnership with the manager.

But my nails dug deep into my palms.

From today on, I will cautiously plan my counterattack.

"Veya, I made Noah’s favorite carrot cake for his birthday!" My step-sister, Lila, barged in.

Ever since Kael's "death," she has frequently visited me, even having a spare key to the house.

"Don’t you have work today?" I asked, staying calm and casual.

"I took the day off. You're under so much pressure to pay off debts and raise a child alone. I want to help you more," she said, massaging my shoulders.

If I hadn’t seen her and Kael plotting against me in the hotel, her words would have touched my heart.

Huh…She is here just for her son Noah’s birthday.

I so much wanted to slap her, but I controlled my urges and sent her to the yard to help set up the party.

Just then, Noah ran in from the yard and hugged Lila.

"Aunt Lila, you're the best! How did you know carrot cake is my favorite?"

"I know everything about you!" she said, kissing his cheek.

Over the years, Lila has always been eager to "help," especially taking care of Noah, attending his birthday parties, and even his parent-teacher meetings.

She claimed it was to help me, but I knew what she was really after.

As Lila and Noah embraced tightly, the doorbell rang. I opened it to find Noah’s teacher, Chris, holding a gift box and a bouquet of lavender.

"The flowers are for you, and the gift is for Noah," Chris said with a warm smile.

“Oh…Thank you so much.” I replied.

I gave the gift to Noah and placed the lavender in a vase in the living room. Lavender is my scent.

"Veya, you look beautiful today," Chris said as I turned back to him.

"Did you think about my offer from the last time?”
