Chapter 2

Author: Green Fur
I took a deep breath, forcing down the tremors that shook my entire body, and patted Pudge on the shoulder.

"Thanks, Pudge. Keep a backup of this video, and don't let anyone find out about it."

Seeing how pale I was, Pudge looked worried. "Alisson, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." I stood up and straightened my clothes.

As soon as I reached the center of the set, I heard a shrill, sugary exclamation.

"Oh!" Jolie Wolf was carrying a cup of scalding hot coffee when she came straight at me.

I instinctively stepped sideways to avoid her. The coffee spilled onto the ground, splashing onto the hem of Jolie's own skirt.

"Boo-hoo... Alisson, why did you push me?" Jolie's eyes immediately filled with tears as she clutched her ankle, looking utterly pitiful.

The crew members around us hurried over.

"What happened?" Dressed in his costume, Ace rushed out of the crowd in a panic and swept Jolie into his arms.

Jolie leaned against his chest, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Ace, I was just trying to bring Alisson some coffee out of kindness. She not only rejected it, but pushed me...

"I know Alisson is your agent and that she usually gets to call all the shots on set, but I haven't done anything to offend her."

At that, Ace whipped around and glared at me, his eyes icy. "Alisson! What the hell is wrong with you?

"Jolie's still a rookie. You're supposed to be the experienced professional here, yet you're throwing your weight around on set and bullying a young woman just because you've been in the industry longer. Have you no shame?"

Everyone around us looked at me with contempt, as though I really were some vicious old hag who used her position to bully others.

"I didn't push her. She walked right into me," I said calmly. I could barely be bothered to defend myself.

"Enough! You're still lying?" Ace cut me off sharply. "Apologize to Jolie right now! Otherwise, you're off this set today!"

I looked him straight in the eye for three seconds. Without arguing, I turned and walked off the set.

That evening, I stood on the balcony, gazing at the stars scattered across the sky, and suddenly felt that the whole thing was pointless.

If his heart was no longer with me, there was no need to make an ugly scene out of it. We might as well part ways amicably.

With that thought, I opened my laptop and contacted a lawyer about getting a divorce.

Just then, the door opened. Ace was home.

As soon as he came in, he habitually wrapped his arms around me from behind, showing none of the disgust he'd displayed toward me earlier that day. "Honey, I'm exhausted. We shot three scenes late into the night today. My whole body's about to fall apart."

"Earlier, on set..." I fought the urge to shove him away and let him hold me.

"Oh, honey, that was just an act for everyone else." Ace immediately interrupted me. He cupped my face in his hands, looking at me with deep affection. "You know how closely the obsessive fans and paparazzi are watching us these days."

"If I didn't distance myself from you and act like I couldn't stand you, they'd attack you online. I insulted you to protect you. And I was only indulging Jolie to keep the production on schedule.

"Honey, you're the most understanding woman I know. You understand that, don't you?"

How had I never realized just how shamelessly hypocritical he was?

If I hadn't seen Pudge's video, I might still be the fool who could be deceived by a few sweet words from him.

"You've worked hard," I said, lowering my eyes to conceal the coldness in them. "The Starlight Awards ceremony is next week. I've already prepared your acceptance speech."

"Honey, you're the best." Ace took my hand and kissed the back of it. "Once I win Best Actor, we won't have to keep our relationship a secret anymore. I'll let the whole world know you're my wife."

"You've endured so much over these past five years."

That night, listening to the soft snores of the man lying beside me, I lay awake for the first time in my life.

The next day, I went to the set as usual. As soon as I reached the outer perimeter, I sensed that something was wrong.

More than a dozen obsessive fans wearing face masks had gathered around my car.

Before I could react, someone hurled a bottle of foul-smelling, unidentified liquid straight into my face.

"You old hag! Stay away from our Ace!"

"You're always leeching off Ace! You shameless tramp! Go to hell!"

"Beat her to death! Ace only has us! Let's make her pay for him!"

"It's signed... Ally, I've given you everything. Can't you at least leave me a way out?" He raised his head, desperately searching my face for even the slightest trace of pity.I gathered up the documents and looked at him with the faintest, coldest smile."Leave you a way out? Ace, I think you've misunderstood something. I'm simply taking back what's mine. As for whether you'll have a way out... You'll have to ask the law whether it'll grant you one."As soon as I finished speaking, the conference room doors were suddenly pushed open from the outside.Several stern-faced police officers and tax investigators strode in, walked straight past me, and stopped in front of Ace."Ace Davidson, we've received a formal complaint under the complainant's real name and have obtained conclusive evidence."You're suspected of evading a substantial amount of taxes through dual contracts, as well as inciting fans to cause public disturbances and commit intentional assault."You're coming with

Three days later, I sat in a conference room at the most prestigious law firm in the city center, reviewing the documents in front of me.The door opened, and Ace walked in, accompanied by two lawyers. In just three days, he'd aged ten years. His beard was unkempt, his eyes were sunken, and his face was covered in scratches that had already scabbed over.He was nothing like the aloof, distinguished, confident award-winning actor he'd once been. The moment Ace saw me, his eyes lit up.Ignoring his own lawyers' attempts to stop him, he dropped to his knees in front of me with a thud."Ally!" His voice was hoarse. "Ally, I finally get to see you!"He reached out as if to grab the hem of my clothes, but the bodyguard standing behind me ruthlessly blocked him."Mr. Davidson, please watch your behavior. We're here today to discuss the division of marital assets and compensation for breach of contract," Dilan said coldly."I'm not getting divorced! I'm not paying anything!" Ace shook

It was then that Ace, who had been silent all this time, did something no one could have anticipated. He jumped straight off the awards podium, his eyes bloodshot, and lunged at Jolie."You witch!" Ace grabbed Jolie by her long hair, yanked her backward, and swung his hand across her face.Smack! The sharp crack echoed through the room as one side of Jolie's face quickly swelled and reddened."Whose baby are you carrying?! Whose brat is it?!"You used someone else's brat to fool me! You wanted me to raise another man's kid and made me offend Alisson for a piece of trash like you! I'll beat you to death, you lying piece of shit!"Even as Ace continued attacking her, not a single person nearby tried to intervene. But Jolie wasn't about to take the abuse lying down. She scrambled to her feet and immediately fought back. "Ace! What gives you the right to hit me?!"Open your eyes and look! That report is real! You're the one who's an impotent loser who can't father a child! You don

That devastating question left the reporters who had been surrounding Ace frozen in place. Then the uproar erupted, ten times louder than before."Holy shit! Azoospermia? Then whose baby is Jolie carrying?!""He's been cuckolded on an epic scale!""Oh, my God! Every scandal tonight is bigger than the last!"The camera flashes were so intense they nearly washed the color from Ace's already deathly pale face."No... No way!" He stared at the giant screen, stumbling backward two steps before crashing into the awards podium behind him. With a loud clang, the Starlight trophy hit the floor and rolled toward the edge of the steps."It's fake! Alisson fabricated all of this! I'm perfectly healthy! How could I possibly be unable to father a child?!"She's the one who did this! She's jealous because I'm about to dump her, so she forged the medical report! The baby Jolie's carrying is mine!"He roared as he turned desperately toward Jolie in the audience, "Jolie, tell them! You're carr

Every reporter instinctively lowered their head to look at their phone screens. The next moment, gasps of shock erupted throughout the crowd."Holy shit! Is this... is this for real?! This is the biggest scandal of the year!""Quick! Get a close-up! Point the camera at Ace!"Onstage, Ace's hand froze in midair as he held the trophy, and he stared down at the audience in confusion. When he saw the cameras turning toward him again, he tried to regain control of the situation, forcing himself to remain calm as he continued reading from his prepared speech."As I was saying, the person who has controlled and abused me is Alisson Lawrence...""Ace!" A veteran entertainment reporter in the front row suddenly stood up, holding his phone aloft as he loudly interrupted him."You just claimed that your agent has been abusing you. Before you continue, can you explain why this anonymous email contains a marriage certificate?"The entire auditorium fell silent. Countless pairs of eyes fixe

I took my spare phone and called a private investigator."I need you to investigate someone. Her name is Jolie Wolf."I want every hotel check-in record, surveillance footage, and pregnancy examination record from the hospital for the past six months since she joined the production."Money isn't an issue. I want hard evidence, and the more detailed, the better."After hanging up, I logged into the private group chat used by Ace's work team. He'd created the group behind my back, but he didn't know that the technical director in the chat was a junior from my alma mater whom I'd once helped financially. In the group's files sat a document titled "Confidential PR Plan Following the Starlight Awards."I opened it and was so furious that I actually laughed.According to the plan, he intended to imply that I, his "controlling agent," had subjected him to years of psychological manipulation, stolen his earnings, and forced him to accept terrible projects to launder money. He'd even pr
