The video had no picture, but the car window wasn't fully closed, and the sounds inside carried through the gap.

"Ace, easy... You're being too rough..."

I recognized that sweet, coquettish voice immediately.

It belonged to Jolie Wolf, the fresh-faced new actress on the production.

Then came the heavy breathing of my husband, Ace Davidson, the award-winning actor who maintained a cold, untouchable image in public.

"You little vixen. I've had to look at you every day on set without being able to touch you. It's been driving me crazy."

"Oh, stop it. Alisson's still outside keeping an eye on things," Jolie said coyly. "Ace, I've been feeling nauseated these past few days. I took a pregnancy test, and I'm pregnant. When are you going to dump that old hag?"

The video fell silent for two seconds.

Then Ace's delighted voice rang out. "Really? That's wonderful! I'm finally going to have a child of my own! Don't worry, baby. Once I win Best Actor at the Starlight Awards, I'll come clean with her.

"She goes around barefaced every day now, looking like some middle-aged, frumpy housewife. How could she ever compare to your youthful beauty? If I weren't keeping her around so she'd continue working for me for free, pulling strings and securing business deals, I'd have gotten sick of her ages ago.

"Once I win the award and establish myself firmly in the industry, I'll give you and the baby the recognition you deserve."

"Really? You're the best, Ace! Mwah!"

The video ended there, freezing on the image of the black van rocking slightly.

I stared at the dark phone screen, my heart feeling as though an invisible hand had crushed it to pieces.

Five years of secret marriage. Five years of pouring everything I had into him.

I, Alisson Lawrence, had once been one of the most sought-after talent agents in the industry, with countless top-tier connections and resources at my disposal.

Five years ago, one of the biggest stars under my management betrayed me and turned on me.

My company faced enormous financial penalties, and a pack of unscrupulous paparazzi cornered me in an alley during a torrential downpour. They shoved and grabbed at me. One of them even raised a rock, ready to smash it into me.

At the critical moment, Ace, who was still working as a stunt double back then, rushed forward and shielded me with his body.

A rock split his forehead open, and blood mingled with the rainwater as it streamed into his eyes. He didn't even furrow his brow. He only looked at me anxiously, forcing a reassuring smile onto his face.

"Ally, don't be afraid. I'm here. No one's going to hurt you."

Later, at the hospital, I offered him a top-tier talent management contract, the kind other agents in the industry would have killed to secure, as a way of repaying him.

But he didn't even glance at it. He pushed the contract straight back toward me.

"Ally, I didn't save you for access to your resources or because I wanted to use you to climb the ladder. I just... couldn't stand seeing you suffer.

"I know I'm not good enough for you. I'm not asking you to look at me twice. I just don't want you to send me away.

"Even if all you let me do is work as your assistant or bodyguard, that's enough. As long as I have a legitimate reason to protect you and can watch over you from a distance, knowing you're safe, I'll be satisfied."

For the next six months, he truly asked for nothing.

When my stomach problems flared up, he'd stay awake all night making me broth. When someone tried to force me to drink, he'd rush in and take the alcohol in my place.

He even took on all kinds of stand-in jobs, getting beaten until his face was bruised and swollen, just to buy me a discontinued music box I'd casually mentioned wanting.

Back then, I was completely fooled by the mask of devoted, selfless love he wore.

Besides taking on the task of managing a newcomer with no connections or foundation, I also gave up opportunities to manage other artists.

I used every connection and resource I had, even spending the dowry my parents had left me, to turn him into the highly sought-after Best Actor contender he was today.

And what did I get in return?

Not only had he cheated on me, his own wife, but he was also disgusted by me for looking like an old, frumpy housewife.

"It's signed... Ally, I've given you everything. Can't you at least leave me a way out?" He raised his head, desperately searching my face for even the slightest trace of pity.I gathered up the documents and looked at him with the faintest, coldest smile."Leave you a way out? Ace, I think you've misunderstood something. I'm simply taking back what's mine. As for whether you'll have a way out... You'll have to ask the law whether it'll grant you one."As soon as I finished speaking, the conference room doors were suddenly pushed open from the outside.Several stern-faced police officers and tax investigators strode in, walked straight past me, and stopped in front of Ace."Ace Davidson, we've received a formal complaint under the complainant's real name and have obtained conclusive evidence."You're suspected of evading a substantial amount of taxes through dual contracts, as well as inciting fans to cause public disturbances and commit intentional assault."You're coming with

Three days later, I sat in a conference room at the most prestigious law firm in the city center, reviewing the documents in front of me.The door opened, and Ace walked in, accompanied by two lawyers. In just three days, he'd aged ten years. His beard was unkempt, his eyes were sunken, and his face was covered in scratches that had already scabbed over.He was nothing like the aloof, distinguished, confident award-winning actor he'd once been. The moment Ace saw me, his eyes lit up.Ignoring his own lawyers' attempts to stop him, he dropped to his knees in front of me with a thud."Ally!" His voice was hoarse. "Ally, I finally get to see you!"He reached out as if to grab the hem of my clothes, but the bodyguard standing behind me ruthlessly blocked him."Mr. Davidson, please watch your behavior. We're here today to discuss the division of marital assets and compensation for breach of contract," Dilan said coldly."I'm not getting divorced! I'm not paying anything!" Ace shook

It was then that Ace, who had been silent all this time, did something no one could have anticipated. He jumped straight off the awards podium, his eyes bloodshot, and lunged at Jolie."You witch!" Ace grabbed Jolie by her long hair, yanked her backward, and swung his hand across her face.Smack! The sharp crack echoed through the room as one side of Jolie's face quickly swelled and reddened."Whose baby are you carrying?! Whose brat is it?!"You used someone else's brat to fool me! You wanted me to raise another man's kid and made me offend Alisson for a piece of trash like you! I'll beat you to death, you lying piece of shit!"Even as Ace continued attacking her, not a single person nearby tried to intervene. But Jolie wasn't about to take the abuse lying down. She scrambled to her feet and immediately fought back. "Ace! What gives you the right to hit me?!"Open your eyes and look! That report is real! You're the one who's an impotent loser who can't father a child! You don

That devastating question left the reporters who had been surrounding Ace frozen in place. Then the uproar erupted, ten times louder than before."Holy shit! Azoospermia? Then whose baby is Jolie carrying?!""He's been cuckolded on an epic scale!""Oh, my God! Every scandal tonight is bigger than the last!"The camera flashes were so intense they nearly washed the color from Ace's already deathly pale face."No... No way!" He stared at the giant screen, stumbling backward two steps before crashing into the awards podium behind him. With a loud clang, the Starlight trophy hit the floor and rolled toward the edge of the steps."It's fake! Alisson fabricated all of this! I'm perfectly healthy! How could I possibly be unable to father a child?!"She's the one who did this! She's jealous because I'm about to dump her, so she forged the medical report! The baby Jolie's carrying is mine!"He roared as he turned desperately toward Jolie in the audience, "Jolie, tell them! You're carr

Every reporter instinctively lowered their head to look at their phone screens. The next moment, gasps of shock erupted throughout the crowd."Holy shit! Is this... is this for real?! This is the biggest scandal of the year!""Quick! Get a close-up! Point the camera at Ace!"Onstage, Ace's hand froze in midair as he held the trophy, and he stared down at the audience in confusion. When he saw the cameras turning toward him again, he tried to regain control of the situation, forcing himself to remain calm as he continued reading from his prepared speech."As I was saying, the person who has controlled and abused me is Alisson Lawrence...""Ace!" A veteran entertainment reporter in the front row suddenly stood up, holding his phone aloft as he loudly interrupted him."You just claimed that your agent has been abusing you. Before you continue, can you explain why this anonymous email contains a marriage certificate?"The entire auditorium fell silent. Countless pairs of eyes fixe

I took my spare phone and called a private investigator."I need you to investigate someone. Her name is Jolie Wolf."I want every hotel check-in record, surveillance footage, and pregnancy examination record from the hospital for the past six months since she joined the production."Money isn't an issue. I want hard evidence, and the more detailed, the better."After hanging up, I logged into the private group chat used by Ace's work team. He'd created the group behind my back, but he didn't know that the technical director in the chat was a junior from my alma mater whom I'd once helped financially. In the group's files sat a document titled "Confidential PR Plan Following the Starlight Awards."I opened it and was so furious that I actually laughed.According to the plan, he intended to imply that I, his "controlling agent," had subjected him to years of psychological manipulation, stolen his earnings, and forced him to accept terrible projects to launder money. He'd even pr
