''Really?''

I chimed happily over the phone. I couldn't believe my ears, the one thing I've been expecting my whole life was finally becoming a reality. My wedding anniversary morning couldn't have begun any better.

''Yes, Mrs. Williams,''

Olivia confirmed, sounding just as happy as I was over the phone, ''I'm happy for you. Congratulations once again,''

''Thank you so much,'' my voice sounded so happy and excited, ''I can't wait to break the news to Jordan,''

I hung up the phone hurriedly, and dialled my husband's number. My heart was thumping fast, and the anxiety I was feeling was too overwhelming, and I couldn't wait to break the happy news to him.

Disappointment crept into me the moment it rang without any response. Jordan was fond of always ignoring my calls, and it had been like that for the past two years of marriage.

''Maybe he's busy with work,'' I muttered to myself, heaving a deep sigh. On a second thought, I decided it would be best to meet him in his office with his favorite food and break the wonderful news to him. After all, it was our second year marriage anniversary.

''We're here for Mrs. Ivy Williams,''

A deep, husky voice said to my security officer, drawing my attention on my way to get in my car. I felt my heart thump in fear and halted in my track as I wondered why anyone wanted to see me.

''What's going on?''

My tiny voice inquired, slowly and carefully walking to where all three of them were standing - my security officer, and two other hefty men I later identified were the cops. Nate - my security guard, muttered a greeting to me as I waved him off in reply.

''Are you Mrs. Ivy Williams?''

One of them who turned to me, inquired.

I took off my sunglasses and glared at him. What were the cops doing in my house? And what business did they have with me? Hesitating to reply, I muttered quietly,

''Yes,''

''You're under arrest, ma'am,''

Under what? Was this a joke on something? I couldn't help but burst out in laughter, because it sounded so funny to my ears. How could someone who committed nothing suddenly be arrested? Maybe it was a prank.

I searched their eyes and postures and observed that they weren't joking. Breaking off my laughter slowly, I proceeded to ask,

''Is this a joke? Why am I being arrested?''

''For the murder of Sir. Benjamin Winters,'' the other man replied, proceeding to get the handcuffs from his colleague.

My heart raced at his words. I stood there dazed, with my mouth opened wide. My eyes felt like they would pop out of their sockets and my whole body started trembling with fear. This wasn't happening, I thought to myself. I had no idea when the food bag I was holding in my hand fell to the floor with all the contents splattering all over the place.

''Wait…'' I muttered quietly, trying to prevent him from cuffing my hands, ''I didn't murder him, he was—''

''Please save your speech till you get to the station,'' The cop interrupted me rudely, dragging my wrist against my will. My eyes glistened with tears as I watched them cuff my hands like a criminal. I glanced around and could see my security officer trying so hard to do his best to restrain them.

''Please inform my husband about my arrest,'' I muttered in tears to him, ''Tell him I'm being framed for something I know nothing about,''

He nodded with his eyes filled with tears and the last glimpse I caught of him was running into his quarters hastily. Like a hardened criminal, I was dragged roughly to the police van waiting for my presence outside my home.

I waited several hours for Jordan to come, but each time a person entered into the station's counter, I got disappointed.

I hadn't been placed in a cell, at least not yet, but they had taken the handcuffs away from my wrists.

From what I gathered while sitting there, they were waiting for someone they claimed had given them the information, and was present at the time of the murder scene.

My mind kept spinning with several thoughts on who the person could be. From what I remembered and knew, only three people were present at the time he was murdered, and I knew them fully well to stoop this low to betray and frame me.

The time on the clock announced that it was already 5;00pm, and I was getting hungry. My plan earlier was to eat the food I had prepared with Jordan in his office. But now, that plan was ruined.

''Can I please have my phone?'' I asked one of the cops who had taken me. I needed to call Jordan and inform him that I was being held hostage in the police station.

''Your husband has been contacted, he'll be here soon,'' he uttered plainly to me as if reading my mind. Refusing to give me even a glimpse, he went on with his work. I clicked my tongue, nodded my head, and returned to my seat quietly.

I felt lonely and dejected. Aside my husband, I had nobody else to come to my rescue. And if Jordan refused to show up for me, then only God knows how long I was going to remain in the cop's custody.

''God, please help me,'' I sobbed quietly to myself, muttering a prayer. That was all I knew I could do. I had no family, no friends, and not even a responsive and supportive husband.

A familiar voice caught my attention, and made me jolt up to my feet. I could tell the owner of that voice anywhere - It was my husband's.

Tears of relief streamed down my cheeks and I felt a renewed hope once again. I knew there was no way he was going to return home without me, and I braced myself up to return home with him.

''Bye to this godforsaken environment,'' I murmured happily to myself, but little did I know that it was about to become my new home…

Jordan's huge figure entered where I was shortly, and I heard him call out for me,

''Where's Ivy? Where's my wife?''

I rushed to meet him, pulling him into my outstretched arms for a warm embrace. The joy I felt inside of me was indescribable. My tears flowed, but with immense happiness, my husband had come to save me!

''Honey, I tried calling you,'' I chimed happily, not realizing that he wasn't reciprocating my hug. He pulled away from me slowly, and I started to blab almost about everything that had happened. I had so many things I wanted to tell him, including the joyful news.

''I got a call from Olivia and–''

''He's here,'' One of the cops who had arrested me yelled out to his colleague, interrupting me from my sentence. ''The witness of the crime is here,''

Witness? What witness? My eyes darted to the entrance and moved from one male individual to another in search of him. But I had no idea he was standing right in front of me.

''Did you like my anniversary present?''

Jordan asked me, holding my hands gently and giving me a dark smile. I beamed a smile at him. He remembered our anniversary. I thought he had forgotten about it just like the first one.

Recalling if I had received any present earlier, I realized I hadn't. Did it come after I had been arrested? Or had it–

''Welcome, Mr. Williams,'' A cop greeted, interrupting me from my thoughts, ''We arrested her upon your statement. She'll be taken to a cell assigned for her now,''

I blinked my eyes in disbelief and saw Jordan smiling and nodding at the cop. None of what was happening was making sense. Who was the witness who had framed me? I wasn't seeing him for crying out loud!

''J..Jordan?'' I stuttered, swallowing hard and refusing to believe what I was seeing and hearing. Had my husband betray and frame me? Knowing fully well I was innocent?

Flashing a full, naughty smile at me, Jordan leaned closer to me and whispered in my ears,

''Happy wedding anniversary, Ivy Winters,''

The darkness wasn’t empty. It swirled with the echo of the shock, the scent of something metallic, and the lingering sweetness of ice cream. Then, a jolt. Not a fall, but a sudden stop.My eyes fluttered open. The first thing I saw was a blurred face, leaning close. The features sharpened, and my breath hitched. It was him. Tristan. But the playful smile was gone, replaced by a grim line.“Valerie?” His voice was rough, strained, a sound I hadn’t heard in years except in my dreams. My head swam. The dream, the blackout, and now this. Him. Here.“Tristan?” I whispered, the name a fragile question. He nodded, a tight movement. “Yeah, Val. It’s me.”I stared at him, my mind a chaotic mess. How? Why?“But… the fire,” I stammered, my voice raspy. “You… you died.”Tristan’s jaw tightened. “That’s what they wanted you to think.”They? Who were they? The questions piled on top of each other, heavy and confusing.“What are you talking about?” I asked, trying to push myself up, but my body felt

The ice cream cones were a sweet symbol of our newfound understanding. Hailey's giggles filled the room as she licked her cone, her eyes shining with happiness. Jordan and I exchanged a soft smile, our hearts still tender from the emotional storm we'd weathered. As we sat there, the tension between us began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of hope and renewal. We chatted quietly, our words gentle and conciliatory, as we began to rebuild the bridges we'd burned.Hailey's joy was infectious, and soon we were all laughing and smiling together. Jordan reached out and took my hand, his fingers intertwining with mine in a soft, loving grasp."Let's start fresh, Val," he said, his eyes shining with sincerity. "Let's work together to build a better future for our family."I nodded, my heart full of hope. "I'd like that, Jordan. Let's do it together."As we sat there, hands clasped, our hearts full of love and determination, I knew that we were on the path to healing and redemption. We were s

I stood my ground, my eyes locked on Jordan's. "I'm going to find him," I repeated. "I'm going to find Tristan, no matter what."Jordan's face twisted in anger, his eyes flashing with a fierce determination. "You're making a mistake, Valerie," he said. "You're making a mistake that will tear our family apart."I felt a surge of fear, my heart racing with emotion. But I refused to back down. I knew that I had to find Tristan, had to know if he was alive."I'm willing to take that risk," I said. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to find him."Jordan's eyes narrowed, his face hardening. "Then so be it," he said. "But don't expect me to be here when you get back. I won't be waiting for you, Valerie. I won't be waiting for you to come crawling back when you realize you've made a mistake."I felt a pang of pain, my heart aching. But I refused to back down. As I stood there, phone still in hand, my mind raced with a mix of emotions. Disbelief, hope, fear, and uncertainty swirled inside me like a maelstrom. Tristan, alive? The possibility was both exhilarating and terrifying. I felt like I was standing on the precipice of a cliff, staring into an unknown abyss. My heart, once heavy with grief, now raced with a glimmer of hope. I had thought I had closure, that I had begun to heal. But Julia's words had ripped open the wound, and I was bleeding again.I looked at Hailey, my beautiful daughter, who was watching me with concern. Her eyes were wide with questions, but I couldn't answer them yet. I couldn't voice the hope that was rising inside me.And then there was Jordan, my rock, my confidant. He had been my support system, my partner in every sense of the word. But now, as I looked at him, I saw fear in his eyes. Fear of losing me, of losing what we had built together.I felt a pang of guilt, knowing that I was carrying his child. A child

As I lay in the hospital bed, surrounded by the sterile smell of antiseptic and the soft beeping of machines, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. Aurelia was finally behind bars, and I was safe. Julia's hand held mine, her grip tight and reassuring. The doctor bustled in, a kind smile on her face. "Welcome back, Valerie. You've had an quite an ordeal. But you're safe now. You and your baby are going to be just fine."I nodded, my throat still dry. "Thank you," I croaked. The doctor nodded. "We'll get you hydrated and comfortable. You've got a long road to recovery ahead of you, but you're going to be okay."As the doctor examined me, Julia filled me in on everything I had missed. The police had found evidence of Aurelia's sinister plans, and she was facing charges for attempted murder and conspiracy.I listened, my mind reeling with the implications. I had been so blind, so trusting. But Julia and Jordan had seen through Aurelia's facade, and they had saved me.As the days passed,

As we stood before Aurelia, her gaze pierced through us like a dagger. Her eyes seemed to bore into our souls, and I could feel her malevolent energy coursing through the air. Jordan's hand tightened around mine, a subtle reminder of our unity and strength.Aurelia's gaze lingered on me, her eyes narrowing as she took in my appearance. And then, her gaze dropped to my stomach. A sly smile spread across her face, and she let out a low, menacing chuckle."Ah, Valerie," she purred. "I see you're carrying a little secret. A tiny life, growing inside you. How quaint."Jordan and I exchanged a shocked glance. How did she know? I had barely begun to show, and only Jordan and I were aware of the pregnancy. I instinctively placed a hand on my stomach, as if shielding my baby from Aurelia's wrath.Aurelia's eyes gleamed with knowledge, and she took a step closer to us. "You think you can keep secrets from me? I have eyes and ears everywhere. I know all about your little family, Valerie. And I w

As we stood frozen in the doorway, the eerie silence was broken only by the creaking of the open door. The air inside was heavy with the scent of vandalism and menace. Jordan's eyes never left the graffiti, his face pale with a mix of fear and anger.I felt a shiver run down my spine as I stepped inside, my eyes scanning the room for any signs of Aurelia's presence. The furniture was overturned, our belongings scattered everywhere, and the windows were open, curtains billowing in the wind. It was as if a tornado had ripped through our home, leaving destruction in its wake.Jordan's voice was low and menacing. "She's been watching us, Valerie. She knows where we live." He took a step forward, his eyes fixed on the graffiti. "She's trying to intimidate us, to make us feel vulnerable."I nodded, my heart racing with fear. As we delved deeper into the planning process, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with trepidation. Julia's enthusiasm was infectious, and she had a way of making me feel like everything was going to be okay. But despite her reassurances, I couldn't shake off the feeling of uncertainty that had been plaguing me since I found out I was pregnant. As we discussed everything from baby names to nursery decor, I couldn't help but think about the future. What kind of mother would I be? Would I be able to provide for my child's needs? And what about Aurelia? Would she continue to pose a threat to me and my baby?Julia seemed to sense my unease and placed a reassuring hand on my arm. "Valerie, you're going to be a great mother. You're strong, capable, and loving. Your baby will be lucky to have you."I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. Julia's words of encouragement meant a lot to me, and I knew that she was right. I was going to be a good mother, no matter wh

As we drove away from the house, the tension in the air was palpable. I could feel Jordan's eyes on me, his gaze burning with intensity. I knew he was still upset with me for going to the house alone, but I also knew he was relieved that I was safe."Jordan, I'm sorry," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I know I shouldn't have gone there alone. But I just needed to see it for myself. I needed to know that Tristan was really gone."Jordan's eyes softened, and he reached out to take my hand. "I know, Valerie," he said. "I understand. But next time, please don't do something like that. You could have been hurt. Or worse."I nodded, feeling a surge of guilt. "I promise, Jordan. I'll be more careful next time. I'll never put myself in danger like that again."Jordan's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze piercing. "You better not," he said. "Because I can't lose you, Valerie. You're the only family I have left."I felt a surge of emotion at his words, and I squeezed his hand. "I love yo
