Chapter 32

BLACK MOONLIGHT PACK

Amber’s POV

“Somehow this drawing doesn’t look accurate to me,” Alpha Taylor turned my bounty paper over in his hands. Chuckling as he peered at it again. “Wanted for murder and cheating. Reward: 500,000. Yes, I was right; the nose is crooked.”

“Quiet! Both of us!” Delilah popped her head out of the changing room and hissed at us in a hushed voice.

I swallowed guiltily; she was right.

We sat at an edge of the pack’s clothing store, opposite the changing rooms. The hood of my jacket was drawn up, but with how many drawings of me my parents had pasted around, we couldn’t be too careful.

“Just hurry up,” Alpha Taylor grumbled back at her.

We were each buying disguises. While we had all picked out clothes, Delilah was the first to try hers on.

Chapter 41SILVER MOON PACKMina stood by the edge of the lake, the cold water on her heels doing nothing to assuage the heat in her chest. Why did she reject the mate bond? She remembered the night she met Damon like yesterday. Her black dress only served to highlight her fiery locks. She stood by the edge of the ballroom, sipping a glass of champagne but also surveying the crowd. She hated how pretentious the pack members were. Most treated her with disdain because of her Omega parents.Most. Except Amber. She had turned around, her eyes searching the crowd for her best friend, when she first smelled him.Dark and smoky. Like burnt wood, with hints of cinnamon and something so deliciously sinful she couldn’t put a finger on it. The smell made her heady. Roused her wolf and left her breathless.Who could it be? She abandoned all thoughts of her best friend, searching instead for this overpowering scent.“You’re searching for me, aren’t you?”A deep voice whispered behind her. Even be

He knew.Mina’s heart threatened to jump out of her ribcage as she and the other officials stood from their chairs in shock and something akin to horror. Her mouth moved, ready to form the words—it’s not what you thinkBut Luna Gwen beat her to it. Schooling her expression from shock to concern as she crossed the distance between the table and Alpha Logan.“What happened, Alpha? Is everything okay? You startled us,”“I don’t care!” Alpha Logan growled angrily, the air pulsing with his Alpha power as she turned and pointed at the door. “I WON’T TAKE THIS DISRESPECT! A mere guard?! He dared to hit him?! What values do you have in this pack!”What the hell was he on about? Mina let out an audible sigh of relief and beside her, she could see Damon’s lips twitch a little bit.Something had happened to make Alpha Logan mad. Sure it was bad… tragic.Mina almost snorted. She didn’t care what happened to the Alpha. She was just relieved and happy

Chapter 39SILVERMOON PACK PALACEThe palace maids scuttled up and down the hallways. Mina squeezed her arms. She stood by the grand window, doing her best to focus on the view before. No she wouldn’t think of what the maids were carrying past her.She wouldn’t inhale the steamy beef stew or the potato pudding. She certainly wouldn’t trail them with her eyes, watching them disappear into the dining room and wishing she could take a bite of the food.“This is ridiculous,” she mumbled under her breath, sighing deeply. Two nights ago, Gwen caught her eavesdropping outside the library. Well technically she wasn’t eavesdropping… not really. It wasn’t her fault she could hear their voices from outside the hall. But it didn’t stop Gwen from finding creative ways to punish her.Mina winced as a rumbling sound, straight from her tummy filled the air. She was hungry and so was her baby. It was noon already and still, she had gotten nothing to eat.Orders from Luna Gwen.It infuriated her. I mea

Chapter 36Amber’s POV“You heard that?” I whispered to Alpha Taylor at the same moment Delilah turned around and yelled in a loud voice.“Who’s there?!”Hair stood on the back of my neck as goosebumps rose along my arms. I took a few steps forward but Taylor held my arm and pushed me behind him protectively.“Show yourself!” He growled, the air shaking with his alpha power as I held my breath.Who was that? A lab nurse who saw us? Or maybe…. My mind went blank, all my senses numbed as a young girl stepped out of the corner. At least that was what I thought she was. A girl. Because her form was so mangled between wolf and human, I could barely make any other details out.“By the goddess,” Delilah swore softly. In front of me, I could feel Taylor’s rage. He kept silent but his hands balled to fists by his side, a vein ticking at the side of his head. The little girl-wolf was shaking. She slowly walked out, looking at us with fearful eyes and trembling so badly. With a jolt I realized.
