His Life

Surrounded with hot girls, booze and music, Ace and his classmates were enjoying the night at one of Ace’s guest houses. Ace sat at the edge of the swimming pool with his legs inside the water, enjoying the coolness of it. He kept drinking while laughing with his best friend, who had been with him, since he was a kid.

“We shouldn’t have left them soon, Ace. It was bloody satisfying seeing them getting beaten by us.” Jacob said while having his drink.

“Those filthy people... if we didn’t leave the place, I might have broken any of his body parts.” Ace muttered while remembering their defeat that happened nearly many months ago.

Jacob started to laugh with Ace's reply. While they were talking, Freddie, the one who was with Ace and Jacob in the evening, walked to them with his drink glass in his hand. He sat beside Jacob, asking, “What’s the matter?”

“Talking about the fun we had in the evening.” Ace replied, laughing.

“Yeah, it was really fun to beat their asses.” Freddie said smiling.

They kept drinking while talking, laughing and commenting the people. They then brought the topic of their next inter college competition that made everyone’s face turn serious. They were the people, who never took any responsibilities about anything but when it’s about their game, they always become serious as it’s the only thing they loved from the core of their hearts.

After a few hours of partying, everyone left the house, leaving Ace alone. He then started to leave, but a voice from his behind made him stop from his walk. He turned back to see a raven-haired beauty walking towards him. He furrowed his brow as soon as he saw her, and he seemed confused with her presence.

“You?” Ace made a disgusted face, seeing her.

She walked towards him, swaying her hips while looking at him in a seducing manner. She wrapped her hands over his neck and moved closer to him, whispering, “Yes. It’s me.”

Ace pushed her back, staring at her with an annoyed face. He asked, gritting his teeth, “What the hell are you doing here?”

“Oh baby, I wanted to see you, so I’m here.” Olivia said, touching his bare chest.

When she was about to move her hand down, Ace caught her hand, saying “Out.”

“Rude.” She rolled her eyes and then sat on the chair holding a drink glass in her hand.

Ace let out an irritated sigh with her actions. He muttered “Fuck.” Then walked to her asking “What do you want?”

“Ace, I’m here to see you. I went to your house, but your dad said you were here.”

Ace pointed his finger at her shouting “I told you I’m not interested in you. You and I, is not going to happen. Your dad might be my dad’s friend, but it doesn’t mean we both can have a relationship.”

Olivia scoffed, hearing him and his words always made her angry. She shouted back, “You accept it or not, we are meant to be forever, Ace. Your dad and mine already decided to get me married to you after few years. I’m trying to get close to you.”

“Who are they to decide? I don’t do whatever the fuck they say.” Shouting at her, Ace left the guest house.

He reached his house angrily shouting “Dad!”

A man, who looked almost similar to Ace, was on the sofa, having his drink. Hearing his son's shouts, he asked, “What happened, Ace?”

Ace sat beside him shouting “Is she mad or what? I’m going to kill her someday.”

Arthur put aside his drink glass, asking, “Whoa! Calm down, son. Who is she?”

“Really? You sent her to my partying place, and now you are asking ‘Who is she?’ I’m talking about Olivia.” Ace said, displaying clear anger on his face.

Arthur let out a chuckle hearing his son. He said, “Why don’t you like her? She is hot, rich, and her family match our status.”

“Match your status. Not mine. She is really a pain in the ass. I told her I’m not interested in her, but she won’t listen.”

Arthur suddenly became serious with his sentence and he said, “Her family is important to our businesses. We should maintain a strong relationship with people like them. I can’t risk my business falling because of your arrogant behaviour towards her. One day, she'll be yours. I’ll do anything to make it happen. Whether you like it or not.”

“You love your status more than your son. I’m a fool for wanting to share my problems with you.” Ace said with a broken voice and stood from there. He then started to reach his room, but before he walked away, he shouted “You cannot control me, dad. You know nothing about me to control me.”

Then he reached his bedroom and shut the door angrily. He threw the bedside lamp, remembering his father’s words. He was not angry that his father wanted to get Olivia close to him, as he already decided he wouldn’t spend his life with her. He was angry because his father never listened to him. He was furious that his father prioritized his status over his son.

Arthur was a money minded businessman, who always cared about his status, business leaving aside his family. Even when his wife died, he didn’t react much, that shattered Ace. Though his behaviour was not tolerable, Ace always tried to be close to his father but his carelessness, negligence towards his own son, left Ace’s heart broken.

Ace had many things to tell to his father, but he knew he couldn’t. He was afraid of the things that would happen if he tells him. He even decided to open up about him once, leaving his fear, but his father never listened.

He wanted to share his pain with his father, expect his father to console him and tell him that he was a GAY, but he couldn’t. Yes, Ace was a gay.

He had been spending his entire life in secret, fear and anger. Anger towards his father for not caring about him, angry on himself for cannot being straight and angry on each and every one, who had been bullying people like him.

Ace also never wanted to reveal about himself to the society as he knew it would spoil his reputation. Though he had been looking strong and invulnerable from outside, he was breaking into pieces with each day passing, and he became a living mess with no hope on anything or anyone except the hatred on the people, who hurts him knowingly or unknowingly.

With all the thoughts, he lay on his bed and drifted into sleep sometime in the middle of the night.

Edwin woke up the next morning to the alarm sound and extended his arm to the other side of the bed to touch Liam without opening his eyes, but he felt no one beside him. When he didn’t see Liam, he sat straight with a sad face. He turned off the alarm that’s been buzzing and noticed a sticky note on the table.

‘Have to leave. See you again.’ Was written on the note.

Edwin's face turned pale seeing it, and he crushed the note, grinding his teeth. Then he stood from the bed and done his daily routines before leaving to his college. He again searched for Kate in the college, but he didn’t find her. Ralph said he too didn’t get any message from her that bothered Edwin. After college, on his way to the clothes shop, he saw Kate’s car near an ice cream parlour. He reached there and saw Kate having her ice cream. He decided to not leave the chance to speak to her, so he called his owner to ask leave for that evening.

Seeing Edwin, Kate’s eyes turned teary, but she pretended she didn’t care. She seemed so upset with him. Edwin sat in front of her, giving a nervous smile. They sat quiet for a while then Edwin spoke holding her hands “Kate, you are my friend and this is the relationship I want between us. Please don’t spoil it.”

Kate didn’t reply anything and kept quiet, not meeting his gaze.

Edwin said “Kate, say something.”

“I don’t know what to say, Ed. You broke my heart.” She replied in a sad tone.

“Kate please. I never saw you in that way. You are my friend, Kate. I can’t love you. Please do understand.” Edwin started to convince her. “I’ll do everything you say except this.”

“Ed, I truly love you. If you don’t feel the same, it’s okay. I don’t force you. I need some time. I just wanted you in my life, forever.” Kate said, bending her head down.

Edwin said smiling, “I’ll be in your life, forever, Kate. As a good friend.” Kate gave a half-hearted smile to him and nodded her head.

“Okay Ed. But promise me, you’ll be with me like you always have been. Nothing should change between us because of my proposal.” Kate said.

“I’m glad you understand me. Nothing changes between us.” Edwin replied.

Then they kept talking casually. Their talk was interrupted with a familiar arrogant voice, “Look, who is here. The captain of fucking North Hill.” There stood Ace before them along with his friend, Jacob.
