Chapter 50

Irina:

I sat on the windowsill, getting lost in my thoughts as I knew that I was going to have a lot to deal with tonight.

The idea of knowing that my mother could either be in danger or completely against me right now played in my head. But I knew that I had nothing to do right now. Cosimo has stripped me off my own humanity, something that I never allowed myself to lose before.

“You need to eat, Irina. You are tired and you are going to need to regain your strength.” Kai said from behind me. I looked at the man over my shoulder, and though I didn’t understand him or his motives right now, I nodded as I turned to enter the room. He wrapped his hand around my waist, holding me to him. My wolf gave into his touch, the one sense of humanity that I had.

I sat on the couch that Kai had in his room and took a bite out of an apple slice before getting up from the couch. I wanted to go back to sleep, and Kai sighed.

“Irina, this is not you eating…”

“I am tired,” I said, and he sat beside me.
