URIEL

“You have some nerves, Uriel.” A man wearing a white Armani suit spat at me, his jaws tightened in anger, and his fist clenched.

He barely flinched at the sudden silence of the room, and neither did I.

I stood a few inches away, facing the angry man, a hand placed in my pocket and my expression unreadable, almost indifferent. The man before me growled at my feigned indifference, his eyes flashing with anger, “After all these while you think you can just reveal yourself and I'll gladly what… accept you? Forgive?”

He snarled, stepping closer, our noses almost brushing, his breath brushed against me, “Guess what. It's not happening. Whatever it is you want, I don't have it. I don't want anything to do with you!”

I stepped away from his hot breath, and my eyes softened, “I see you haven't changed…brother.”

At my words he lunged at me, gripping my lapels and I let him pull me into his face, “I am not your brother! I never was and never will. You made that clear so long ago when you

ANNAThe words I’d thought soon became reality when the warning bells rang. The shrill cry sent terror into my heart.I froze. My heartbeat thundered in my ears as my mind raced to process what I had just heard. The thick smoke quickly filling up the room pushed me into action. The door handle was too hot, I searched wildly for anything thick enough to use as a barrier, and my eyes landed on a thick row of magazines, Amyy had placed on my desk before she left.“Here, take these. You'll need them.” Despite each magazine holding hoards of abominable dresses, she hadn't listened when I had told her no, insisting that there were styles in Vogue. Without an ounce of guilt, I lunged for the pile, ripping them into shreds, pulling them up until I felt it looked thick enough to use.My throat felt raw as I coughed violently, trying my best to breathe as much clean air as possible.I stumbled towards the door, placing my makeshift barrier, and a surge of joy flashed through me when I didn't

ANNA“Ouch!” I gasped, staring down at the steady flow of blood dripping from my palm. Frowning I wiped off the blood and watched as the paper cut slowly healed. With a sigh, I continue to go through various catalogs of wedding dresses. How I'd gotten here continued to come off as a shock to me, I never thought that when I accepted Reuben's offer of mating I would be getting married so soon, especially when I was still wondering if this was the right thing to do.The weight of the whole occasion sat heavily on my shoulders pulling me into a depressed state of mind where everything felt rushed, but when I'd brought it up, Rueben had only laughed off my worry insisting that everything was perfect. Then last night he dropped a bomb that threw me off my pace. The dining hall had been tense, especially between me and Uriel. A whole week had passed since he'd asked to talk to me and I'd refused. Still, we continued to work together as though nothing was wrong. The click and clocks of silv

AUTHOR'S POV“What's going on here?”The air grew tense at Anna's words, but she pushed on as though she felt nothing. Her eyes focused solely on Rueben who leaned on a chair with a goofy smile, at the sight of her.“What are you still talking about? Amyy sent you to go call Alpha Uriel for a meal not to chat?” She continued with a frown, her arms on her waist.Reuben broke into a shy smile, before he moved, reaching out to pull her into a hug, “Don't be angry ,baby, we were only having a little chat?”Her eyes narrowed at him, her heart picking up pace, as she forced herself to remain calm, “What does chatting mean?”Reuben chuckled, throwing Alpha Uriel a conspiratory look, “Oh you know, just guy talk. That's all.”Anna pinned her gaze on him for a moment longer as though searching for the truth, Reuben didn't flinch, instead he broke into a wider smile, and he pulled her tighter “I'm being honest, baby. You can ask the alpha himself.”At the mention of his name, Anna finally looked

URIEL“Did you hear me?” Reuben asked, dipping his head to meet my gaze. “I like to talk to you.”His cocky voice grazes on my nerves, but I don't respond. Without waiting for me he pulled out a chair and dropped down with a soft sigh.My fingers glided on the file still, and the blue ink of the pen pooled at its top.“It's about Anna” he continued, as though unborthered by my reaction.I clenched my jaw, leaning back in my chair to meet his gaze. “There’s nothing to talk about.”He smirked, mirroring my posture, “Oh, I think there is, Alpha” he drawled, “lots..”I narrowed my eyes at him, gritting my teeth, “Get to the point, Reuben.”“It is Alpha now. You know?” He countered, picking up a pen from my table and playing with it.Raising my brows at him he chuckled before placing them back, “Fine.” He tilted his head, his expression smug. “I know you don’t like me. Hell, you probably hate me. But I love Anna, and I intend to make things right with her.”I scoffed, standing up and cro

URIELThe harsh sound the door made as I pushed the door open, doesn't begin to reveal how angry I felt. With a swift kick, the door swung shut, locking me in to wallow in my feelings. My jaws clenched tightly grounding until my gums felt raw.I was pissed. That was just stating it lightly, my claws grew ready to rip into something or someone, Reuben's face came to me, and I felt my ache as my incisor grew an inch.“How could she be so reckless? A cheater of all people?” I growled, pacing the length of my office, not bothering to care what I stepped on.The image of Anna accepting Reuben’s proposal stuck in my mind like a nursery rhyme sung one too many times. My fingers curled into fists, my veins popping with the motion, my nails dug into my palms as I tried to push away the rage boiling in my chest.Mason growled, itching to take control “What did you expect? Was she supposed to keep waiting for your green light? Was she supposed to sit still and listen to you giving her others lik

ANNA“Are you serious!” Reuben shrieked, his lips pulled up forming a wide smile, “You aren't joking with me are you?”His excitement pushed back the sickening guilt I felt and I shook my head as I took the arm he held up, “No I mean it.”Before I could finish my words he let out a whoop of celebration and lifted me into the air, “This is great news, Anna! The very best!”I shrieked at his sudden movement, “Let me down you oaf,” slapping his shoulder, while breaking into laughter, “It's not that deep okay.”“Don't say that!” His voice was smooth as he pulled me in for a hug before pulling back, his eyes held mine, “You've just made me the Happiest man alive Anna.”The sincerity in his eyes almost makes me flinch, I give him a soft push, “Oh please…I'm sure you've felt this happy some other time..” I trailed off, looking anywhere but at him.Reuben shook his head, pulling me closer as his brown eyes held mine, “No never! You giving us a chance is the best thing that has ever happened t
