Chapter 18Lydia’s POV“W Wilson?” I stuttered in surprise.Wilson jumped down into the training ring and swaggered towards me.“Here,” He pulled off his chest and handed it to a guard.“I’m not fighting you” I rolled my eyes in exasperation and turned to slauntered off the training ring.If he was looking for a fighting buddy, he could wrestle one of the guards.“Why Lydia? Scared you’ll lose?” Wilson chuckled as the guards began to laugh alongside him.I narrowed my eyes at the bunch of cowards. They had forgotten who gave thme their wounds so soon. “I just don’t want to fight you,” Irritation flashed through me as Wilson grabbed my arm and spun me to face him.“Come on, let’s show them how the moonlight pack fights,” Wilson’s voice dropped low and he gave me a wink.“No,” I replied and pushed his arm away.Faster than I could blink, Wilson retaliated by landing a blow to my side. I went sprawling to the floor as the training ring erupted in an uproar and the guards all angled to
Chapter 19 Lydia’s POV I sat on the floor in shock as Wilson barked out a laugh and stood to his feet. “You still don’t understand battle tactics, Ly,” he mocked as he patted my head and turned to face the crowd cheering for him. I vaguely felt the skin on my cheek knit back together and I numbly got to my feet. “Cheer up! You fought well too." A guard tried to speak to me as I walked out of the training ring. “Let her go! She’s a sore loser. It's always like that when she loses a battle,” I heard Wilson say as the crowd laughed. “It’s fine; I’ll just comfort her later." My brain ached and my eyes tingled as I struggled to hold back my tears. I wrapped my arms around my body and kept on walking blindly back into the palace. He doesn’t know me. He doesn’t know me. He doesn’t know me. How many years have I known Wilson yet he doesn’t know a thing about me? And me? I never believed him capable of such dishonorable battle tricks but I was wrong about this. What else could I b
LYDIA’S POV‘Stop! Stop the meeting!” I panted. Out of breath from running for so long.“What are you doing here?” Freya sneered. Why was she even in the meeting?“Lydia?” Darwin asked in confusion as he stood to his feet.I turned to Darwin and pointed a finger at Wallace.“He’s a fraud. He doesn’t have the life elixir or even know a thing about it. End this sham of a meeting now Darwin, before you get duped,” Wallace’s face turned red, as be spluttered angrily.“Who are you?” Wallace hissed in annoyance. “Guards! Remove this gremlin from here!” A shadow crossed Darwin’s face as he stalked over to me.“That’s my bride Wallace. Watch your tongue or you won’t have one anymore,” Relief filled me. He believed me!As Darwin got to me, I launched myself at him and hugged him tightly. “Wait, Lydia. Can you please explain?” Darwin asked as he held my arms gently and moved me back so he could look in my face.“Wallace is a fraud. He doesn’t have the elixir of life NO one does,”A funny lo
LYDIA’s POV “Darwin!” I gasped as I shook my head slowly and began to step backward. “Lydia, WHAT PLAN?!” Fear rushed down my spine and my heart rate increased. I have never seen him look so angry. “N n…th-” I stuttered, unsure of what to say. “Forgive her, my king! When she came up with the idea of pretending to accept you just so she could blackmail you, I warned her. And I tried to stop her, I swear it!” Disappointment left a foul taste in my mouth as Wilson crashed to his knees before Darwin and threw all the blame on me. “That’s not true, Wilson, and you know it!” I snapped angrily Freya’s shock seemed to ebb off into anger as she hissed angrily. “So this is what you’re truly like?” She scoffed and shook her head. “I always knew you were desperate but how dare you! The child of a servant trying to take advantage of the rogue king!” I rolled my eyes at Freya and turned to Darwin. “You know that’s not true. You know me, right? I didn’t-” “That night you were with my lap
Chapter 22Lydia’s PovI watched in horror as Darwin wrapped his hand around the elixir on Wilson’s throat and snapped it off.“Darwin!” I pushed past a shocked Margery and ran up to stop him from doing anything stupid.“No, Lydia!” Darwin growled angrily as he whipped his head to me.“I asked you! Again and again about the elixir and you liedl”My tears fell down my cheeks as I tried and failed to grab onto his arm.“It wasn’t my secret to tell!” I shook my head to get him to believe me.“I I tried to warn you and tried to—““Tried to gather information so you could blackmail me!” Darwin was so angry he was past caring.Just then a static sound filled my head. I lost all sense of my thoughts as I shut my eyes and gripped my head to get the sound to stop. And it stopped. Only I somehow knew I was in someone else’s head.“Amari!” Darwin’s wavy voice filled my head.“Get the guards here Now!”I froze wide-eyed in shock. Did I just hear the mind link between Darwin and his commander?“D

Chapter 23 I stood, unseeing, with my eyes wide open. Darwin let out a choked sound and staggered back a bit. Between the two of us, I didn’t know who was more shocked by Freya’s outrageous announcement. “You’re pregnant?” I turned to Wilson in shock. “You’re not even married to her yet?!” “So?!” Freya yelled defiantly as she grabbed Wilson’s arm from a stunned guard. “We love each other!” I stood and waited for a second. Two seconds. Ten seconds? I was waiting to feel some kind of pain that would tell me if I still had feelings for Wilson. But Nothing. “You can't kill him." I sighed numbly as I turned back to Darwin. “He’s your son-in-law and apparently the father of your possible heir. “He should have thought of that before taking advantage of my daughter!,” Darwin growled in shock as color began to rush back into his face. “Lock him up in the cells!” I should protest. Say something or do something to help Wilson but as I watched the guards drag a screaming Wilson from the
Darwin’s POVI walked up and down the closet, fuming in silent anger. She betrayed me!I laid down my heart and trusted her yet she betrayed me! From the closet, I could hear the sound of her moving up and down in the room. What was she even doing there? Should I send her to another room? With a deep sigh, I tied the strings of my sweatpants and strode into the room.“Are you ready to go to bed?” Her floral scent slammed into me as my wolf whined pitifully.“What are you doing? I narrowed my eyes as I gave her a once-over. She just came out of the bathroom. Her wet, dark hair was plastered to her face, and the night dress she had on, sent a bitter taste to my tongue. I missed seeing her in my shirt.“I was just making the bed. It’s late and we need to sleep." Is she trying to get me to sleep so she can steal back the elixir?“Why are you so anxious for me to sleep? Planning to start another stage of your plan?” I sneered as I dropped into the bed, trying my best not to notice how t
