Mag-log in"Form a line." The blonde-haired alpha ordered as he stepped forward.
Victoria stepped back and sat on the bench against the wall. The new students began to form a line. Before I could think, Lana dragged me into the line. We ended up somewhere in the middle. "So, who’s first?" Victoria asked excitedly. "Oh you… come, dear." She said, looking at the girl standing at the front. The girl swallowed hard before hesitantly walking onto the raised platform. The moment she stood there, the lights went dim and everyone panicked. What were they trying to do now? I didn’t have to guess for long. A moment later, a single bright light focused only on the raised platform, while the rest of the room remained dim. The light highlighted the person on the platform. The wet nightdress on her body was almost see-through as it clung to her skin. Nakedness wasn’t a big deal for werewolves, but not everyone would want to be in a situation like this. And for the witch students, it would be horrible. I shook my head. They were skilled bullies. "Perfect." Victoria clapped her hands, a devilish grin spreading across her face. "Now, you only have to say three things while introducing yourself." She instructed. "Your name… your parents’ status… and where you are from. Simple.. isn’t it?" Ranking. So they wanted to mark the students from day one, who to keep close and who to exploit. I suppressed my scoff. One thing I knew very well about this so-called elite society was that they were fiercely biased towards their own kind. Those who didn’t belong to their circle weren’t even considered human. To them, their importance was the same as animals’. I looked at Lana, feeling sorry for her. It wasn’t like they wouldn't look down on me, but I didn’t care about such things. But Lana was different. "My name is Miley Holder." The girl on the platform said, jolting me out of my thoughts. "My parents are gamma wolves. They run a business together... We are from the Eastern Lane Pack." "Nice to meet you, Miley. You can stand there now." Victoria pointed towards the empty area to the side. "Now, the next one." It continued. Soon it was Lana’s turn. That meant I was next. "Hi. I am Lana Jacobs. I am a witch. My parents are ordinary witches who run a shop, and we are from R City." She finished her introduction smoothly. When I went and stood there, the blonde-haired boy looked me up and down with a smirk. Luckily, my nightdress was decent, made of considerably thick fabric, and I used my hair to cover my chest. Before I could say anything, there was a commotion as someone entered the room. His aura was so powerful that everyone cowered. "Oh my… look who is here." Victoria purred, her tone seductive as she immediately stood up and approached him. "You have arrived at the right moment. We were just conducting the introduction ceremony for the new students. Come join us." She smiled, placing her hand on his chest intimately. Ares grabbed her hand and removed it from his chest. But Victoria immediately grabbed his arm and dragged him to where all the seniors were. "Everyone.... meet our special guest... Ares, the captain of the House Black Bull." She introduced him. It appeared they were close. Maybe even a couple. Ares stood there with his arms folded as he looked around the room. Then his gaze landed on me. Our gazes met. His stare was intense, demanding submission, but I didn’t submit. I matched his gaze. His eyes narrowed slightly in surprise. Lower-ranked wolves couldn’t hold a high-ranked wolf’s gaze for long, especially an alpha’s. And the person standing before me wasn’t an alpha but a lycan. Only strong wolves could hold a lycan’s gaze for long. I knew I would draw suspicion, but my inner self was reluctant to avert my eyes. "Next one... Start introducing yourself." Victoria said in a commanding tone. I immediately averted my gaze and looked at the wall. "I am Eloise Root" I began to introduce myself. "My mom and I are Omega-ranked wolves, and we came from V City." I finished, and the room fell into silence. "Which pack, dear?" Victoria asked when I didn’t say anything further. "My mom was from the Sharp Fangs Pack." I replied looking at her. "Oh, I see. So, guys, welcome our first Omega to the house." The senior students cheered, except for one. My gaze went to the Lycan Prince. He was watching me. As our eyes locked, I felt like he was challenging me to hold his gaze again. Alpha males were very proud of themselves and didn’t tolerate disrespect. Not meeting their gaze for long was considered respectful to them. Stupid male ego. These spoiled brats were born with everything in their lives. They were pampered from childhood and were told they were the most powerful and important beings in their pack. Given that he was a Lycan Prince, he must have thought himself the best in the werewolf world. In a way, they were, but I didn’t like how they treated others. It was fine if you were important, but that didn’t mean you could think of others as insignificant. Everyone had importance and a purpose in life, even an insect. I had seen how high-ranked wolves treated the lower-ranked ones. I hated all of them. They used lower-ranked wolves for their benefit, but refused to give them the respect they deserved. Hypocrites. "You can go now. Next one." Victoria’s voice rang through the hall. Averting my gaze, I stepped down from the stage and went to stand with the others. I focused my attention on the new girl who went up to the stage. After that, our roommate stepped onto the stage. "H-hi. I am A-Aspen Cartar." She stammered, looking nervous. "I’m from the Dark Hill Pack, and I am the daughter of the Alpha, Ace Carter." She finished her introduction. So she was an Alpha’s daughter. No wonder she didn't look pleased about being our roommate. She left the stage and another girl came up. Suddenly, the Lycan Prince straightened up as he was leaning against the bench and headed toward the exit. The girl was in the middle of her introduction, but he didn’t care. Victoria went after him, and the girl stopped speaking. After a while, Victoria returned. "Our prince had other things to attend to, so he left. Now, where were we?" She said, gesturing to the girl to continue. The introduction drama continued. Some of the girls found the ceremony to be a huge deal. Like Victoria had said, they really considered it a fashion show and introduced themselves proudly, flaunting their almost naked bodies. The boys had a good time watching them, especially the blonde-haired alpha. Surprisingly, I had forgotten his existence after the arrival of the Lycan Prince. Now, he was openly leering at every girl. I was sure some of them would end up in his bed soon. I avoided looking at him, even though I could sense his gaze on me from time to time. After a long time, the ceremony finally came to an end, and we were allowed to leave for our rooms. I realized two things. First, this place was no better than the schools I had attended before, maybe even worse. Only time would tell how much more was in store for us. Second, I was the only omega in the entire first year. How lucky I was. We went to sleep immediately after changing into dry clothes. It seemed that only then had the day finally ended. I wondered how the coming days would be here.[ Draken ] The music inside the bar pounded like a heartbeat. The smell of perfume, alcohol, and sex hung thick in the air. I sat alone in the darkest corner of the private lounge with one arm resting against the leather couch while a glass of whiskey sat in my other hand. Women kept stealing glances at me from across the bar. I came here often. It was a place where everyone hid behind masks, keeping their identities a secret. Whenever I needed a woman, this was where I came. Unlike Ares, who slept with practically half the girls at the academy, I couldn't bring myself to get involved with students anymore. I used to have flings there too, but that ended badly thanks to that bastard, Ares. Since then, this place had become my escape. Even that had lessened over the past few months. There was a time when I craved a different woman in my bed every night. Maybe things changed because of the responsibilities my father, the king, had begun forcing onto my shoulders. I had one last yea
After the combat class, all of the students were told to gather in the hall where we had first assembled when we arrived at the academy. It was known as the Assembly Hall, a place where everyone was called whenever an important announcement had to be made. I couldn’t help but wonder what was so important this time. Lana, as usual, was brimming with excitement as we made our way through the hallway towards the assembly hall. Then, suddenly, I spotted Sage. She was heading towards the ladies’ washroom. "Go ahead" I said to Lana. "I’ll be there shortly." "Wait, where are you going?" she asked, but I had already turned away, hurrying after Sage. "Sage!" I called out to her, but she couldn’t hear me and turned into the hallway. I quickened my pace. The moment I turned into the hallway, I collided with someone. The impact wasn’t too hard, but it still made me stumble backwards. When I looked at the person, it was none other than Draken. My eyes widened in disbelief. Why did
It was late at night, and after returning from the dining hall, we had all settled into our beds. Now that I was alone in my bed, I picked up my phone and opened the app. Among the few books in my library, I looked at a particular cover. I tapped on it, and the book opened instantly. Scrolling to the end of the latest chapter, my eyes landed on the author's note. "Hello, my lovelies. How have you all been lately? Don’t forget to leave your comments. I’m always eager to hear from you." A small smile formed on my lips as I read the words. To everyone else, it was just another author’s note, but to me, it was a hidden message from my mother. She was a well-known fantasy novel writer, but she had kept her identity completely anonymous. Over time, we created our own secret way of communicating through cryptic messages hidden in the comment sections of her books. It sounded strange, but it was very effective and safe. Quickly, I typed a comment. "I loved the chapter. It’s amazing...
"I think we should select one species each for this project." Lana chimed in. Of course, she wasn’t someone to be left behind. I was kind of relieved that both of my partners were serious about studies and that I wouldn’t have to do everything alone. "Sure. So, what species will you choose?" Adam raised a brow at Lana. "Of course, witches," she said proudly, making Adam and me chuckle. "Of course you will." He then looked at me. "And you? What will you choose?" "What will you choose?" I asked him instead. "Umm... werewolves?" "Okay, then I choose... Demons?" "I thought you would choose vampires," Lana blurted out. "But Demons are cool as well." She grinned excitedly as if we were actually going to the realm of the Demons. "Okay, so it’s final then?" Both Lana and I nodded together. "Final." Moments later, we sat down with books on the three different species and began taking notes. .... "What’s that?" Lana asked, drawing our attention as we both turned to lo
Just as we thought we might have heard wrong, we heard it again. A girl’s yelp then the word, "please". I narrowed my eyes and, without thinking, approached the door, pushing it open. "Eloise, wait…" Lana tried to stop me, but it was too late. It was an empty classroom. At the far end of the room, a small bulb lit up a corner, leaving the rest of the space in near darkness. I clenched my jaw when I spotted them. All of their eyes were on me, but no one said anything. "What’s going on here?" I asked, stepping inside and approaching them. I noticed one thing...there was no scent. They had concealed their scent. A high bench was placed against the wall, on which Victoria and two of her lackeys sat. In front of them was the blonde girl from the canteen, the one who had raised her voice against Piper and ended up being bullied by them. Sage. Her name was Sage. She was being held down by one girl, while another stood beside her holding a marker pen. "Eloise." Lana grabbed
"Adam Reed." "Hey... our project partner," Lana whispered, nudging me as soon as Professor Rowan called Adam’s name. I nodded, my eyes following him as he stepped onto the stage. Unlike most of the other students, who were visibly tense, Adam looked almost… relaxed. Professor Rowan folded his arms, watching him with interest. "Go on." Adam nodded once. We looked at him with anticipation but even after a few a second nothing happened. Then.... he vanished. A collective gasp tore through the room. Heads snapped around, eyes wide as everyone tried to find him. One moment he had been standing on the stage… the next, he was gone. A sudden rush of wind brushed past us. Then suddenly he reappeared, right behind Professor Rowan. "There he is." Someone shouted. He gave us a smirk and the next moment he was gone again. A strange kind of enthusiasm spread through the room and as if this had became a game, a game to find Adam. This time he appeared near the far wall, then the ceili
I defended as Lana attacked me. She clearly didn’t know anything about sparring. Her moves were all over the place, like she was throwing her arms around aimlessly. I had no problem defending against her. Logan was looking at the girls, whereas the two Lycan princes guided the boys. After a while
"Isn’t it you?" Lana asked, looking at me. I nodded before taking her phone and scrolling through the comment section. "What exactly happened?" She asked. I sighed. "When I went back to get my feather, I bumped into him in the corridor. That’s it." I replied while looking at the comments. A
The more I thought about it, the angrier I became. How could he blame me like that? He even had the audacity to warn me. Who did he think he was? I didn’t even realize when I arrived at the canteen while thinking about that arrogant jerk. I slowed down when I saw students entering and exiting thr
The teacher was in the middle of her lecture when I appeared. She stopped and looked me over from head to toe. Another witch. She had black hair and a medium build and appeared to be in her early thirties. "Eloise Root?" She asked. "Um, yes, Madam.." "Late in the very first class?" Sh
