"What just happened before our eyes?” Elsa still didn't believe anything that had just happened with Anna and Lucian.

Carlyle's mouth was still gaping slightly from the sight of his seemingly dauntless alpha as he followed Anna in hot pursuit. He was too weakened by the shock to care about where they had run off to.

The fact that she had said the word ‘Mate’, just couldn't be reconciled at that point. But then, it did explain everything that had been going on. Lucian's seeming bias towards Anna had been for a reason.

There hadn't been anyone able to work their way that deep into his favors in a while. He had seemed quite impeccable until Anna had come along.
