“How is it going, Amor?” Mum asked as I got into the house and dropped the groceries on the top of the table. Through Donovan's help, I was able to rent out a lounge where I, mum and dad would stay instead of a hotel.

“Great.” I answered as I unwrapped the things I bought but I could still feel her piercing gaze on my back.

“Amor? Are you sure you're okay?” Mum questioned coming to sit beside me and I just stared at her. The next second, tears were rolling out of my eyes.

“Oh come here, darling.” She whispered, opening her hands up for a hug and I smiled in pain as I wrapped my arms over her shoulder.

“Tell me. Tell me about it, what happened? Is it your ex husband?” It was how fast she could decipher the situation that was marvelling and an awe to watch and I nodded, my face still on her neck.

“Mama. Mama, he said I killed him. He said I killed my son. And it just feels like, it just feels like…” I finally bit out and my mum just held me tighter.

“Listen to me now, you did no su

SAELAI slammed my hands onto the table once again, gritting my teeth.Torren had met up with his ex wife, Eryn. Again. For the third time this week. With every time she showed up, my heart did a little thump, a constant reminder that she wasn't fully divorced with him yet and might come to drag down everything I worked for.How could I possibly let that happen?“Can we meet up at a discreet location I text to you?” I said as the call I had dialed went through and the person on the other end answered in the affirmative.“Don't be late.” I said and hung up as I went over to my mirror and smoothened out my makeup.Packed my hair in a high ponytail and reapplied my gloss. You know what? I think I'm in the mood for a new bag.I ran fingers through the rack and picked up a pink designer bag.Perfect.Time to put an end to this.My hands flew over my screen as I texted the location to him and deleted it from my end.I might have to flash my phone once everything was confirmed, these kind o

ERYNThey said it was my fault, not my parents of course, it was just the way the world did. Maybe me, too.I took my parents to the clinic. My mom’s breathing had been shallow for weeks. My dad’s trembling hands could no longer hold a spoon. The doctors said there was a new drug trial. Second phase. Promising. Experimental. And it was led by Rhysario Vale.I didn’t know much about him except he had a reputation. Cold. Ruthless. The kind of man who never smiled unless he wanted something. When I walked into the sterile white room, he was there. Sitting at the far end, eyes sharp like he was already scanning through me and finding every weakness. I hated that.I stood with my parents behind me. They looked at me like I was the one who had answers. I didn’t have any. I barely had hope.Rhysario didn’t say a word for a long time. Just studied us like a scientist dissects a frog. Then he spoke.“I’m Dr. Vale.” His voice was calm, almost too calm. “This trial might help. But it’s not a c

ERYN “You're sure this is going to yield a good result, right? Else it'd be rather nice that I'm folded up in bed all cozy, when I finally die.” My dad teased and I turned to glare at him when he broke out in a laugh. “Just joking, Ryn. You look way scary these days.” He muttered and a small smile spread across my face. I swerved right, going past an incoming vehicle that would have slammed into me and let out a deep sigh. Today? I was taking my parents to the hospital for a full medical check up, my mum included. She wasn't diagnosed ill but I wasn't going to take any chances. After all, a woman her age drowning in sorrow of seeing her husband wither away and then depression? I hope it didn't stir up any bad health issues for her. There was no harm in checking anyways. I sighed as I pulled into the hospital's driveway and helped them out of the car, directly leading them into the hospital. “I see what you're saying, Amor. They sure are advanced in technology.” Mum commented as

ERYNThe thing about truth? It doesn't heal. Not immediately. It rips you open all over again. I'd spent weeks, months, blaming Torren, holding onto that rage like it was oxygen. And now?Now I was staring at the enemy and it wasn’t him.Technically he still was though, he had a part to play in my son's death but this…this wasn't on him.“You want my help?” I scoffed, watching him swipe through the tablet Kael handed over and he raised his brows, staring at me blankly. “Why? So I can hold the flashlight while you play Alpha Detective? Because you needing my help is kind of unheard of and absurd. What could an ex Luna like me who wasn't allowed into the council possibly do for you?” I queried and he just shrugged.Torren didn’t rise to my sarcasm. He rarely did.“No, I need your help to talk to someone. She's a lady, you're a lady. I think you'll have better shots at talking to her.” he said. “Really? Why do you think I would help?” I snapped, wrapping my arms around myself like I

ERYN“Get back here.” Saela yelled behind me as I watched my Uber pull up and keeping my shoulders squared and my back to her, I took a long deep breath in.I was tired and still hurt from Torren's words earlier and that meant I didn't have enough energy to give Saela. Why couldn't she just leave me the fuck alone? I was about to walk into the Uber and just ignore her when I heard heels stomping in my direction and her hands immediately went on my shoulders pulling me back.Cheap confidence, I recognized it instantly. I turned slowly, already knowing who stood behind me before I even looked.Saela.Always coming with drama clinging to her like the perfume she drowned in.“Eryn.” She cooed, dragging the name like it left a bad taste on her tongue. “Got a moment? Let's discuss like adults.”Adults? Does she even know what the word means?I didn’t answer. Just raised a brow and looked her over, from the diamond studded clutch in her hand to the designer shoes I knew she couldn’t afford
