A few hours later, dressed in a pullover shirt and some khaki pants, he seemed a lot more relaxed security guards remembered him being earlier in the morning. He had a grin on his face that nobody had ever seen before. Though no one was going to actively say anything to him about how he was acting. It was like a new person was in front of them. He nodded to the security guards as he walked in the door and then looked at his sister, who was sitting at the table, and she was still fuming. The look on her face was priceless when he walked in. She was almost pouting like she was five years old again.
“Did you get stung by any of the bees?” Benton asked as he sat down at the head of the table and looked at his older sister, who was visibly angry. Now that he was in there and making a joke about it, she was even more furious that she had been there waiting for him for a few hours. She had no idea that he had actually just made the first contribution to the clause be
Benton smiled at her, and she knew that something was going to be coming out of his mouth soon enough that was going to end her memories from her childhood. He almost looked jealous of her memories and of some of the things that she had done. He knew that they had grown up completely different, and he had already accepted the fact that she was not like him at all. But the jealousy was still there because she had a real childhood where is he had been locked away in a compound pretty much. “I think I should tell you a few things about the way that I grew up so you can kind of understand where I'm coming from,” Benton said with a sigh as he almost unceremonially flopped in the chair at the kitchen table. “When I was born, it was after my father had been told that he wasn't going to have any children other than Penny. So, after all the tests were confirmed that I was his child, he found it necessary to pretty much keep me locked away. I was separate
A few days later, while Benton was in the laboratory, he received an emergency text from Kelly, which was slightly unnerving. He had set up Kelly's phone well, she was starting her recovery process in the apartments to have an SOS button that all she had to do was hit it, and he would come running. He knew that she didn't ever want to press that button, so when the alert came to his phone and was echoing throughout the entire base, he knew something was seriously wrong. Kelly wouldn't have accidentally pressed the button, or she would have, and she would have immediately sent something right afterward. He made his way back to the apartments very quickly, knowing that that's where she was as she was going over more files for possible donations. Sometimes she would use her phone to check personal profiles of people and also news stories to see if she could easily verify some of the details in some of the campaigns. However, the SOS button was something completely differ
It wasn't until Benton walked out into the hallway after he looked at Kelly and shook his head. “She's up to something. I need to go find her.” Benton walked out into the hallway and continued to look for where his sister had gone, and when he had come across a couple of guards, they had to look at him like he had lost his mind when he asked if they had seen her walk by. They all knew that Penny had been banned from the building, so they had not seen her. Benton turned back and walked the opposite way, and then he realized exactly where she was headed. He made his way to the conference room and then opened the door just to find Penny sitting there sobbing her eyes out. The woman who had never allowed anyone to see her emotions in the entire time he had grown up with her was sitting there, and her eyes were already red and spotty. Her face was reddened as well where the tears were streaking down her face. This wasn't a show. She really had hoped that no
It was later that day that he had been notified that his mother and his sisters had arrived. It was almost serendipitous that Penny had been there earlier, and he was quite prepared to deal with his mother and his younger sisters. When he found them walking through the hallways headed towards his private apartments, they were already walking and talking in hushed whispers. However, the hallways were designed to almost echo everything that way. People could talk through the long distances between areas in the hallway. He heard every word that they were saying. They weren't really being rolled out quiet even though they thought they were talking in hushed tones. “He supposedly has some kind of woman here. He won’t tell us about her unless it was beyond serious.” His younger sister said to their mother. “So, we really shouldn't push the matter right now. I mean, any woman right now would be a good idea for him to have at least that's a push in the right direction
Well after the two people went to bed after they watched TV and had a nice dinner together. Benton had started to bring up a few of the issues that he had dealt with that day with his sisters and also coming up with a plan to deal with anything else that was going to arise between because of them along with Kelly because it would affect her as well. They had decided that they were just pushing it off to the side for right now and try and have a good night instead of thinking about either one of their families. The night had surrounded them, and they had sat and watched the sunset, which was one of Kelly's favorite things to do. Then with the stars rising, they begin to make their own constellations together. After watching TV for an hour or so, they both were ready to go to bed, and they snuggled into the large bed next to each other with his arm draped over her side, holding her close to him. They both found sleep without any real trouble.
Benton took a few minutes to calm her down. It had taken a little while, but she had managed to find a spot on his chest where she concentrated on the sound of his heartbeat. Then she managed to fall back asleep. Benton was already starting to make plans on locating the boat and the people that were on it. He knew that he had more resources than the police did, but he was still going to contact the police and have Kelly give a statement to them tomorrow after they arrived at the base in the mountain. He sent a message via text really quickly to his security officer, who needed to arrange to have the detectives come out to the compound sometime the next day. They had been patient with Kelly, and he knew that the only reason why they had even given her any leeway was because of the fact that she was there with him. It was plainly obvious to everyone who could see them that he cared greatly for her and that he would do probably nearly anything for her. The
Later that night, Kelly looked at him as he was pacing again because he was trying to figure out how to work out the problems with the quantum diffuser and the simple fact that the core was not working. She knew that something was bothering him beside the fact that he couldn't get the piece of machinery to work the way that he had planned it to. That was when she realized that she had no idea what he did during the day when he was in the lab. She knew that he was probably extremely intelligent just by the way that he spoke and the schooling that he probably received. However, they had never had a conversation where his intellect had been a major part of it. Right now, he was so overwhelmed with having her there and also with the piece of machinery not working that it had been an issue for him. This was going to be a test for him when she looked at him. Because in her mind, if he really wanted this work for them together, they had to be a team for everything. S
As Benton watched her in his laboratory where he was working on the biggest project of his entire life, and probably the entire generation of quantum mechanics was right there in front of her, it's when it hit Benton that she wasn't just an ornament. He could talk to her about just about anything, and she would probably understand now that she had her memory back. Everything was extremely different for him at that moment because he knew that things were not exactly what he had planned for. He finally had a partner that would be able to help him in every decision that he made. That was a realization that he never actually thought that he would have. It was freeing in many ways. Kelly was going to be somebody that he could talk to about different projects and everything else in his life that mattered. It wasn't something that he ever expected to have in a relationship. It was something that was going to be completely new to the both of them that they could share
