The adrenaline that had fueled my fight with the rogues evaporated, leaving my limbs feeling like lead. My "Primal" side had protected me, but the toll was heavy. I stumbled toward the edge of the stream, my vision blurring.

“Rest now, Little Seed,” the ancient voice hummed, its tone softening. “The Shadow is coming. But he is a shadow that protects.”

I didn't have the energy to ask what that meant. I collapsed onto a bed of moss, the purple glow in my veins fading into a dull, rhythmic thrum. As the darkness of sleep pulled at me, I heard it—the heavy, rhythmic thud of a horse’s hooves, or perhaps something larger.

And then, the scent hit me.

It wasn't pine or the musk of the Northern Crest. It was the smell of a brewing storm, of dark chocolate and ozone. It was a scent so powerful it made my soul ache with a different kind of hunger.

"My King, there is a body by the water. A girl."

"A rogue?" a voice responded. It was deep—a low, melodic growl that seemed to vibrate the very earth beneath my cheek.

"She smells of the North. And... rejection."

A heavy silence followed. I felt a presence loom over me, cold and predatory. I forced my eyes open just a crack.

Standing over me was a man clad in black leather and fur, his hair as dark as a raven’s wing. His eyes weren't the gold or blue of a normal wolf; they were a piercing, crystalline silver. This was no ordinary shifter. This was Malachi, the King of the South, the man the elders called the "Demon Alpha."

He knelt beside me, his large hand hovering over my forehead. He didn't touch me, but the heat radiating from him made my skin prickle.

"She isn't just rejected," Malachi whispered, his silver eyes narrowing as they landed on the glowing purple veins near my collarbone. "She’s changing."

"Should we leave her, Sire? The North will come looking."

Malachi reached down, his fingers finally brushing my jaw. The touch felt like a bolt of lightning. The broken pieces of my heart—the ones Killian had crushed—seemed to shiver in response.

"Let them come," Malachi growled, his eyes flashing with a sudden, possessive hunger. He scooped me into his arms as if I weighed nothing, his chest a wall of solid heat against my face. "Killian Vance was a fool to throw away a Goddess. Now, she belongs to the Shadows."

Meanwhile, back at the Northern Crest Pack...

Killian sat in his study, the Alpha's mark on his neck itching with a strange, burning intensity. Beside him, Cora was talking about the wedding decorations, but he couldn't hear a word.

He felt... empty. The bond he had severed was supposed to be gone, yet a phantom pain was gnawing at his gut.

"Alpha!" Link burst into the room, his face pale and streaked with dirt.

Killian stood up, his heart racing for a reason he couldn't explain. "What is it? Did you find Elara?"

"We found her tracks, Alpha. She fought three rogues in the Blackwood. She... she did something to the earth. The trees were ripped from the ground."

Killian frowned. "That’s impossible. She’s wolfless."

"That’s not the worst part, Sire," Link swallowed hard, his voice trembling. "The tracks lead straight into the Southern King's territory. And we found this."

Link held out a piece of Elara’s white dress. It was stained with mud, but there was something else—a faint, lingering scent of ozone and silver.

Killian’s face went white. The Southern King. Malachi. The man who was known to kill any wolf who crossed his border.

"He has her," Link whispered.

Killian felt a sudden, violent surge of jealousy that nearly knocked him off his feet. He had rejected her. He had thrown her away. So why did he feel like he wanted to tear the world apart to get her back?

Deep in his mind, his wolf finally spoke, a mournful, angry howl: “You gave away our Moon. Now, the Sun is coming to claim her.”

Killian looked out the window toward the South, his hand trembling. He had made a mistake. And as the first thunder of an unnatural storm rolled across the sky, he realized that Elara wasn't just gone.

She was being claimed by a monster far more dangerous than him.

  • The Silent Luna: Rise of the Primal Queen   Chapter 54: The Fog of Oblivion

The air inside the migration vault did not just feel cold; it felt thin, as if the concept of time itself was stretching and fraying the further they marched into the dark. The walls were no longer rough limestone or sapphire veins. They were made of colossal, interlocking blocks of pale, smoothed bone-stone, carved with the microscopic names of every lineage that had ever crawled across the continent. It was the outer perimeter of the Altar of the Ledger, and the silence here was absolute, heavy enough to make the heartbeat of a wolf sound like a war drum.Elara led the pace, her right hand still holding Astraeus’s small fingers. Her burnt left hand was tucked against her ribs, the Null-Stone shard beneath her flesh throbbing with a low, rhythmic heat that was the only thing keeping her grounded."Your Majesty," General Thorne muttered from behind her.Elara stopped, turning her head slightly. Thorne was staring down at his broadsword. His grip on the hilt was loose, his weathered fa

The dust in the sealed chamber did not settle; it hung in the air like a shroud of grey silk, catching the dying pink glare of the broken celestial seal.Elara stood before the solid wall of collapsed mountain rock, her right palm pressed flat against the jagged limestone. She didn't breathe. She didn't blink. She focused every ounce of her Primal senses on the fated bond in her soul, but the connection was dead—not severed by death, but muted, choked out by the heavy, metallic resonance of the celestial gold she knew was currently encasing her husband on the other side."Your Majesty," General Thorne said, his voice coming out as a rough, silt-choked rasp. He was leaning heavily against his dented shield, his left leg dragging slightly where a falling stone had caught his armor. "The column... we lost twelve men in the collapse. The rest are accounted for, but we are completely cut off. There is no digging through this. The mountain has settled.""He's alive," Elara said, her voice d

The liquid crimson light leaking from the seams of the circular iron door was not magic—it was a heavy, suffocating law. It poured onto the rusted iron plates with a sound like freezing water, turning the ancient Primal sapphire veins on the walls from a vibrant blue to a dead, calcified grey."It’s a localized quarantine," Elara whispered, her transparent white gaze tracking the crimson pool as it crept toward Astraeus’s boots. Her burnt left hand throbbed in sync with the pulsing door, the Null-Stone shard beneath her skin screaming against the celestial seal. "The Higher Courts didn't just send a vanguard to hunt us. They locked this entire sector of the migration path from the inside.""Your Majesty, the rear line is collapsing!" General Thorne shouted, his voice cracking over the roar of the battle behind them. He stood at the mouth of the blue corridor, his dented shield locked with Alpha Draven’s shoulder. The golden glare from the fork was blinding now. Malachi’s roars were tu

The rhythmic, synchronized march of iron boots echoing from the depths grew louder, vibrating through the solid limestone floor until the loose shale beneath Malachi’s boots began to dance. The air, once stagnant and cold, suddenly turned hot and dry, carrying a distinct scent of burning gold and ozone. The celestial vanguard was closing the distance with terrifying velocity, navigating the ancient subterranean highways with the single-minded precision of a machine."Form up!" General Thorne barked, his voice cutting through the heavy vibration. He slammed his dented shield into the dirt, stepping into a defensive stance directly behind Malachi. "Shields to the front! Archers, check your strings—keep the oil arrows dry!"The remaining Southern guards—fewer than fifty battle-worn shifters—immediately fell into a tight, professional wall of steel. Their eyes, wide with exhaustion but burning with the fierce loyalty of the South, fixed on the darkness ahead.Elara stood in the center of

The northern subterranean passage was a raw throat of jagged stone that wound deeper into the belly of the world, far past the borders of the mapped South. The air here was ancient and thin, carrying the heavy scent of dry sulfur and dead limestone. Behind them, the ruins of the Southern Spire were completely sealed under millions of tons of collapsed obsidian rock, but the silence that followed was far from peaceful. It was the oppressive, suffocating silence of a graveyard.Malachi led the column, his tall frame cutting through the absolute dark as small, tentative tendrils of shadow flickered from his shoulders to illuminate the path. His silver eyes were sharp, scanning the ceiling for fractures, but his focus was divided. Every few steps, his gaze drifted back to Elara, who walked at the center of the surviving guard, her burnt left hand wrapped tight in a strip of linen torn from Thorne’s formal cloak."The air is changing," General Thorne murmured from behind them, his heavy bo

The needle of solid crimson light hovered inches from Malachi’s face, vibrating with a high, lethal frequency that shaved away the ambient shadows around his brow.Malachi didn't flinch. He remained dropped over Astraeus, his chest locked like a vault to shield the boy from the Architect’s gaze. His silver eyes were wide, tracking the geometry of the crimson needle with a cold, predatory focus. He was calculation incarnate, assessing the velocity of the impending strike even as the liquid gold at his boots tried to anchor him to the collapsing stone floor."You speak of execution, ghost," Elara said, her voice dropping into a register so low and resonant it rattled the stagnant water in the nearby Abyssal Well. "But you forget whose house you are standing in."She didn't use her left hand—the one currently blistered and smoking from the raw grease of the Null-Stone burn. Instead, she raised her right arm, her fingers splayed toward the ceiling fissure where the bruised red sky leaked

The grey mist of the Blight wasn't just a gas; it was a physical weight, cold and oily as it slid into my lungs like liquid lead. Beside me, Malachi—the King who had defied his own shadow for me—was breaking. His silver eyes, usually so sharp and commanding, were flickering shut. His hand, once a s

The air in the Southern Kingdom felt heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and the metallic tang of Malachi’s lingering shadow magic. The nursery was usually a sanctuary of soft moonlight and the scent of lavender, but as Elara and Malachi burst through the heavy oak doors, it felt like stepping into a tomb. The air was frigid, thick with a cloying, oily mist that seemed to swallow the light of the enchanted lamps."Astraeus!" El

The air in the tomb was finally sweet, the last of the grey Blight having dissolved into the cold stone like a nightmare at dawn. Malachi let out a jagged, lung-bursting gasp, the life-force I had traded my soul for rushing back into his veins with the force of a tidal wave.He didn't wait to find
