* Regina *

When I returned to Alpha Archer's tent, the sounds of the summit still lingered in my ears, the fading roars, the shuffle of warriors, and the low hum of talk around the fires. The sky has turned bruised purple now, the sun slipping down behind the ridges, leaving the camp wrapped in restless anticipation for the next day's challenges.

Inside our tent, the smell of leather, smoke, and pine resin filled the space. I moved quickly, setting things in order just as Alpha Archer would want them, folding his cloak neatly over the cot, brushing the dust from his boots, and refilling the jug of water on the low table. My hands were steady while working, but my chest wasn't. It felt tight, like my heartbeat was caught between pride and dread.

I could still see the look on his face earlier, sharp, unreadable, but edged with something like disapproval. He hadn't shouted then, but the weight in his tone when he told me to return was enough to make me move before thinking. He didn't lik

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter 156

    * Alpha Regina *I always knew the hour before the sun touched its highest point. It's also the time when the bond hummed with that familiar tension, anticipation pulled tight as sinew. Not urgency or alarm. Just the quiet certainty that today, finally, Alpha Archer would cross my borders to see me.I had felt him turn toward me before. The way the bond shifts when he chooses me. When his attention sharpens and narrows until it is only us. I had dressed for it without realizing it and changed leathers, to a new one. Braided my hair tighter. Stronger for a fine look. An Alpha, not a waiting female, but still, a mate who had been apart for too long. And I admit that I missed him so much.The Wild Pack felt it too, his presence has become familiar here.They were restless in a hopeful way. Patrols rotated faster than necessary due to threats. Warriors lingered near the eastern path, pretending to sharpen blades that did not need sharpening. Even the younger wolves kept glancing toward th

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter 155

    * Alpha Archer *When my mother showed a sign of slowly getting back her strength, I immediately chose the hour to visit my mate.The West was quiet in that way that never fooled me, it is too still, like a held breath. My warriors trained below the ridge, steel ringing against steel, but my attention was not on them. It was pulled eastward, stretched thin by the bond that never truly slept. Towards the Wild pack Alpha. Regina.I felt her in my heart before I thought of her. A tightness in my chest. A sharp edge in the air that did not belong to my lands. Anger is coming from her. Old resentment towards an enemy. To wolves circling a truth they did not want to face.Hold the line, I sent through the bond, careful not to intrude, only to brace. The answering warmth came back faint but steady. She was standing her ground as a strong Alpha.That was when I decided, I would go to her myself. Not as an Alpha interfering. Not as a political ally. But as the Alpha who is her mate who would s

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter 154

    * Regina *There was something in the wind that I caught before anything else when the morning came.It was something that came sharp and bitter, layered with old hunger and fresh resentment. There was this emotion riding it. Anger of wolves. Like a wounded pride. It was the kind that festers when the world suddenly declares survival insufficient.I was on the ridge when Elias suddenly stiffened beside me."There are Rogues, Alpha! he said. "Six. No, eight. They're not trying to hide."I didn't move, but my senses are going alert. Below us, the Wild Pack camp breathed quietly for once. Fires burned low. Pups slept with their mothers. Warriors rested without clutching their blades. Peace was still new here, and fragile as frost."Let us see what they want from us," I said.Rowan appeared at my other side, already armored, eyes hard. "They won't be coming to join us Alpha.""No," I agreed softly. "They're coming to remind us who we used to be and we can't deny our past."The group broke

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter 153

    * Alpha Archer *They said when there is a beginning there would always be an ending and that strength when lost could fail the flesh. My mother lay on the carved stone bed at the center of the room, silver hair spread across dark pelts, her breathing shallow but steady. The glowstones along the walls dimmed in respect, their light soft, as if even the fire feared waking what rested within her.Luna Zeina, because I am not married so my mother still stands as the Luna of the Western pack.But not anymore, she choose to let go of her title just days ago. She had removed the crescent torque herself.I had been there when her fingers trembled against the metal, when the symbol of her authority, of decades of guiding the West Pack through blood and winter, fell into her palm. The elders had bowed instinctively. Warriors had lowered their heads for her. My wolf had howled in protest."I am stepping down," she had said calmly, though sweat slicked her brow. "The moon has chosen another batt

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter 152

    * Regina *The Wild Pack slept in uneasy layers, there are wolves curled near the fires, sentries posted along the treeline, the old rogues who still dreamed with one eye open. I stood alone at the edge of the cliff that overlooked our borders, while the wind tugging at my cloak, the moon riding high and cold above me.Seven nights since Archer had last stood on the opposite ridge, close enough that I could feel him even when I refused to look.I pressed a hand to my chest, to the place where the bond lived like a second heartbeat. It had been restless all evening. Tight and I fear that something had happened to him."Alpha."Rowan's voice carried softly behind me. "A runner just crossed the eastern markers. West Pack seal."My heart stuttered. I turned so fast my cloak snapped. "Bring it. Now."The scroll was warm when it reached my hands. Not physically, him. His presence bled through the wax and parchment, raw and unmistakable.I broke the seal. The world narrowed to ink and breath

  • The Silver Alpha   Chapter 151

    * Alpha Archer *I was planning to leave and see her. It was the seventh night since I last stood at the ridge facing the Wild Pack's borders, counting breaths instead of miles. I was in the war chamber, hands braced on the map table, arguing quietly with my wolf about restraint, about patience, when the mountain screamed loudly.Not in sound, in a panic. The bond snapped tight around my ribs, sharp enough to steal air from my lungs. My wolf reared, feral, terror flooding him so fast it tasted metallic in my mouth.My mother! I was moving before thought formed, doors flying open, boots pounding stone, guards scattering at the force of my passage. The scent hit me halfway down the eastern corridor.Moonflower scent and blood. There was something. wrong. I skidded into the inner chambers to find chaos stripped bare of ceremony. Healers knelt on the floor as they work. Silver bowls overturned. Moonlight bled uncontrolled from the carved runes in the walls of the room.And Luna Zeina, my
