"No... no... please stop! get away from... no... no....." I suddenly wake up from my sleep, breathing heavily. I quickly turn on the light on my bedside table and check the time on the wall across the room. It says 3:00 am. I tried recalling my dream but couldn't.
This was not the first time it happened. It's been going on for the past two weeks. Since I clocked 18, all I know is it always terrifies me, and it also felt so real, and it also happens at exactly 3:00 am, but I end up not recalling anything at all.
I took a deep breath, got up from my bed, and went to the bathroom. I quickly splash water on my face and look down at my hands and notice that they were still shaking. I tried to steady them and look into the mirror.
I notice some changes in my body; it has become more sculpted and twine-thin. My waist is now tapered compared to before and now has an olive skin complexion. My eyebrows are more slender, as though they were tattooed. My eyelashes are longer and fuller, I now have a dainty nose, a set of dazzling angel white teeth, my hair that was once ebony-black now has strips of silver to it, and my blue eyes now have a gold ring to it. My fingers are more slender, and the nails are slightly longer.
All these changes started exactly after my 18th birthday, and ever since I've tried my possible best to hide most of the changes in me. By wearing baggy clothes, black wigs, and eye contact and masking my face with heavy makeup.
Not only the changes in my body did I notice, but I also noticed the changes in my agility, both mentally and physically. Also, my hearing and sight of vision have become so sharp that I can hear and see things from miles away.
All these changes I kept to myself.
I dare not let anyone know because I know the consequences if they do.
Before these changes, I was already an outcast and hated by the whole pack.
Well, this started on the day my parents were killed by rogues deep in the forest. When the pack found us, my parents were already dead, leaving only me alive. They thought I was the cause of their deaths by leading them to where the rogues were. But little did they know it wasn't the rogues that killed them. I didn't tell anyone what happened that day, and they never bothered asking me, not even my family. They all wanted someone to be blamed, and I was the easiest target.
My parents were the beta of the pack, so technically I was demoted from the beta's daughter to the omega of the pack and maltreated brutally.
I was already being called a freak because they thought I had no wolf, which I do, but I just chose to keep it away from them. I first turned on my 15th birthday, which was a very painful night for me. I had to change all by myself without the help and presence of the alpha. You might ask me why the alpha's help and presence must be needed when one is changing. Well, that is because he is the only one that has the power to control a newbie from going rampage and also, after the change, bonds with the newbie to become an official member of the pack.
Well, as you can tell, since the alpha wasn't there with me that night, I am not officially part of the pack. So no one could guess I have a wolf. One thing also, my wolf's color is silver, like literally silver. It was never heard of that a silver wolf exists or existed before, so I dare not tell anyone about it.
I splash water on my face once more before quickly doing my morning routines and going upstairs to the pack's kitchen to prepare meals for the whole pack. After that, I cleaned the whole mansion except the rooms. I usually clean the rooms when all the pack members are down eating.
As I was finishing with my cleaning, I heard the pack members wake up gradually and check the time. As I noticed it was 5 am, I quickly gathered my cleaning tools and dashed downstairs to the basement, where my room is. I can't even call it a room. It was more like a five-square-meter cage built in the corner of the basement specifically for me. It contains a single bunk bed, a bedside table, a small wardrobe, and also in it was built a mini bathroom.
For the past 2 weeks, I have been avoiding any sort of confrontation with any of the pack members to reduce the chances of them noticing the changes in me.
So far, so good, it has been effective.
I lay on my bed listening to everyone in the mansion as they came out of their rooms one after the other. Once I ensured everyone had left, I discreetly exited my room, concealing my scent to prevent them from noticing me, and quickly cleaned the rooms.
A cold silence fell.I straightened, barely able to contain the storm that was brewing within me.“You’re telling me a creature that shouldn’t exist walked into my territory and stole my mate.”“Well, we didn’t even know they still existed, Alpha.” Rowan tried explaining, but I cut him off.“Still?” My eyes snapped to Rowan. “What aren’t you saying?”Rowan hesitated, then bowed his head.“There are old legends—stories the elders whispered when we were young. Tales of changelings… beings who lived hidden from the world. Creatures that took the forms of others with frightening accuracy. But they were myths. Rumors. Nothing more.”“And yet one walked through my home.”“Changelings were said to be isolationists, sire. Reclusive. A species that despised contact with the outside world. They kept to themselves so fiercely that most believed they vanished centuries ago. They never interfered, never revealed themselves… until now.” Elric spoke up.My hands curled into fists as I battled with m
Her mocking words send my mind into turmoil, but I must stay composed. I must stay composed. I must not let her words get to me, no matter how much she enjoys it.The way she laughs and taunts me is unbearable, but what I could not take was the way she spoke of my werewolf heritage, mocking and belittling it as if it were a joke.“I find the barbarians, as you've called them, teach better than tutors, Your Majesty,” I said, smiling faintly. “With their sharp senses and attentiveness, one learns to see what others overlook.”A long silence. Then the queen rose, gliding toward me. Her perfume was intoxicating with scents of roses, steel, and something darker. She stopped beside my chair, her voice soft enough that only I heard:“Be careful what you see, child. The last who stared too closely at the sun was burned blind.”I met her gaze, not defiantly, but steadily, despite how I was feeling inside. “And yet, Your Majesty, the sun still rose the next day.” I know challenging her at this
Divya's POVI had expected to be treated with malice and disrespect upon entering the queen's chambers, but this, this treatment, I had not expected. It's been about twenty minutes since I stepped into her chambers, and the queen has not even acknowledged my presence. In fact, as soon as I walked in, she turned her back and continued talking to the three ladies that were also in the chambers with her. They were deeply involved in the topic of their discussion, totally ignoring my presence as though I were invisible. The queen reclined on her lounge chair, while the ladies gathered around her in graceful positions, with embroidery hoops and jeweled fans in hand. From their conversation between themselves, I was able to gather the name and status of each of them.In fact, they were all noble women that held enough power in their hands to do as they pleased due to their families' standing and connections. They were also the queen's ladies-in-waiting, trusted advisors, and confidantes.Wh
Queen Seraphine's POVBy the time I got to my chambers, I could barely contain the rage that was building inside me. How could this be happening to me? How dare he talk to me in such a manner because of that bast**d child of his?I tried so much to contain my anger, but it was proving difficult as I walked down the corridor back to my chambers. It was more so, especially when everyone I came across looked at me with sympathy alongside their greetings. The news of her arrival had begun to spread like wildfire within the palace, and it was only a matter of time before it reached outside the palace walls to the ears of the entire kingdom.Immediately upon entering my chambers, Lady Elena, one of my ladies-in-waiting, rushed over to me, breathless with anticipation, to confirm the news from me.As it happens, it was not presently that I heard about the news of her arrival to the palace. I knew of her presence in the palace as soon as she was brought in. But because she was hidden within t
Lee's POVSoon enough, we got to the entrance of the queen's quarters, and I was stopped by the guards there to do a body search. I knew it was necessary, but it still made me uncomfortable. I felt as though I was being humiliated, especially not after the way the maid had just acted toward my lady, treating her with such disrespect. I felt so much annoyance as they patted me down and rifled through my cloth.Once they were done, I saw the way they smirked at me, as if reveling in my discomfort and powerlessness. My anger bubbled up inside of me, but I knew that showing it would only make things worse and put her in a spot where she could get more humiliated. It was obvious that the queen found her presence here disturbing and planned to make things difficult for her during our stay here. It was best to avoid drawing attention to her."Your Majesty, I've returned with her." The obnoxious maid called out to the closed door before us from beside us before giving us a nasty look. I gritt
I stopped walking at the sound of the voice and casually looked around to see if the comment was directed to our group. But there was no one else apart from us in the area, which confirms that the rude comment, if I may say, was truly directed to us.But why? What had we done to provoke such a reaction?Or did one of the maids do something to offend someone? After all, I wasn't the only one present. The maids and Lee were also present. Surely it couldn't be me who was being spoken to. And I know Lee would not have done such a thing since he was a foreigner here and would not want to cause any trouble.A lady dressed in a maid's outfit stepped out of the corner and walked over to us."Miss, are you talking to us?" Lee stepped before me in a protective manner and asked the lady."Miss Cara…""Miss Cara…""Miss Cara…"I raised a brow in surprise as the maids greeted her with a curtsy as she walked over. It was obvious that though she was also dressed in a maid uniform, she was of a highe
