ログインTOMI stood at the pack gates, leaning beside a tree as I waited for Nathan and Lily to show up. The morning air still carried that damp, earthy smell that came right after dew, and somewhere past the tree line a bird kept singing like it was rehearsing for an audition. We were going to meet Malfada at the spot my dad had organised for her to stay. With or without the pack's approval, I still had to learn more about my powers and how to control it. Nathan and Lily haven't met her yet and Nathan is dying to meet with her. Lily, not so much. But that wasn't what has been occupying my thoughts since yesterday. It was the blaring fact that Blake's new friend is a mixed breed. A witch and a wolf. I remember how speechless I was after pops had told me. I could recall the exact way he said it, like even he wasn't sure how to feel about the words coming out of his own mouth.I went through Pete's information and found out that he has an elder brother named Will. They came from a distant pack,
BLAKEI had acted on impulse. When I heard the knock, I didn't for once imagine that Pete would be the one there. I've been thinking, looking for ways to contact Pete and he just shows up at my door. Now he was in my room, the second person to have ever come in, and I didn't know what to do.I saw as Pete looked around my room, eyes going over everything that made me feel like he was unboxing my every emotion and thoughts I had let loose in this very room. Ones that I didn't want anyone else seeing. Anyone apart from Tom. His eyes finally went back to me,"Hi, uh, sorry for suddenly showing up like this. You haven't been to school in days, that's why I decided to check up on you." He said with a small smile. That was.....thoughtful. I didn't think he would notice I was absent or cared enough to come check up on me. That warmed my heart a little, more than I would like to admit. "Oh," he gasped, as if remembering something. He took off his backpack, taking out a book and pen from it a
TOM"What's that big book for?" I heard pops ask. My eyes lifted from the book to meet him. Pop's eyes weren't red like the other day, they were normal now but the heavy sadness behind it was obvious. "I need to check the list of newly admitted wolves." I replied, my eyes going back to the pages of the book."Why?""Because I want Corey gone.""Tom....""If I can just find something on him, of how he came, or some dirt on him, I can get him to leave.""He hasn't done anything bad to Blake, and the Corey I remember, wanted to be Blake's friend at that time, right?"I lifted my eyes, "no. He forcefully wanted to be Blake's friend. There is a difference.""But isn't that a good thing? Since Blake wants to move out...." He trailed glancing upstairs towards the hallway. "Don't you think at least someone has to watch over him?""I'll watch over him myself.""Tom, you have to create a balance. It'll be hard for you to keep an eye on him, the way you obviously want to, while running the pack.
TOM"What the fuck are you doing here?" My gaze hardened as I cursed my luck. Just when I thought the day couldn't get any worse. Now Corey of all people was at my house."Really? No 'hey buddy, how have you been?" His shoulders moved dramatically with the words. "It's just right to being like the Tom I remember." "Same here, you're just like the Corey I remember. The Corey who never fails to piss me off." I knew something was familiar with how quick he was to piss me off. But physically, he isn't the Corey I remember. The one I remembered was the eight year old Corey. This Corey is grown, same height as me but buffier with a face tattoo on his right cheek. This Corey had short hair, way too short to fit his stupid face. But this Corey, like the eight years old one, knows just how to piss me off."Easy there, Alpha. I didn't come here to piss you off. Er, maybe some other time but not today," he smirked when he saw how one of my eyes twitched. "Today, I'm here to see Blakeyyy." His v
TOM "Who are you to decide that on your own?" The pack doctor asked before any of us could say anything. "The law says so." He answered, adjusting himself on his seat with shoulders raised in pride. "Since Beta Chris brought up the law, I couldn't help but remind all of us seated here of it." He said, looking at everyone of us before his eyes settled on mine, "the law says a mateless Alpha can't lead the pack and our dear Tom here, hasn't gotten his mate, or has he?" The room seemed to shrink around me, every pair of eyes suddenly heavier than before, and I fought to keep my expression neutral even as my pulse hammered against my ribs. I had totally forgotten the new law. It was added when the laws of the pack were revised after the betrayal of Samantha. It was included because Samantha's betrayal revolved around mates. "How long have you waited to say that part of the law?" The pack doctor asked, folding his arms. There was a tension in his voice that hadn't been there minutes b
TOMI lingered in the doorway of my parent's room a moment longer than I needed to, watching pops shoulders curl inward, before finally forcing myself to softly close the door as I made my way down the hallway. Every step felt heavier than the last, the weight of Blake's words still hard on my chest, and for a moment I stopped and looked back at the closed door.I had tried to comfort pops who sat facing the window and stared into nothing. Hearing Blake speak for the first time in eleven years threw him into shock, and then realizing that the reason Blake chose to even speak to him was to blame him for everything made it even worse. Blake's words hurt him really bad and I knew there is nothing I would say to change that fact. Even as I left him, he had continued to mutter words of blame to himself and I knew only my dad would be able to comfort him now. I stood outside Blake's door for a long moment, hand hovering near the wood, before letting it fall back to my side and walking aw
