We walk in silence for a few minutes, I was mesmerised by all the expensive looking houses on this street. They are the biggest houses I've probably ever seen in my life; these were not cheap is all I can say! Which begs the question, how much money does my mum actually make if she's able to afford a house here?
Jackson was still searching the perimeter but was trying to be sneaky, I had my arm wrapped around his to make it seem like we were a couple. Which I love how many things are discussed with me before they happen, note the sarcasm. When I looked in the mirror to check my contacts it kind of made me sad, I looked nothing like me at all. My hair is a different style, length and colour, heck my eyes are even a different colour! The only thing I could keep the same was my clothes, but everything else was changed.I hope and pray that this whole pretending I'm someone else thing isn't for too long, for many reasons. The first, obviously because I want my dad to be home safe but also, I don’t want to act like someone I'm not. I want to get back to my normal life going to work, hanging with Peter. He was coming to pick me up the other night, I hope it didn't freak him out too much seeing that sort of scene. What if there's a whole police investigation going on around us? My mum never said she worked for the police so how would they know? Am I classed as a missing person? I don't know how I feel about that to be honest; I'll ask my mum next time I see her what's going on with that?"You know back at the house you were talking about the men?" I ask breaking the silence we had going on, Jackson nods for a second still looking around. “If you know that, you must know more about the case-" I start to say but he cuts me off before I could finish my sentence."I can't discus that with you especially, when we're so out in the open like this." He says point blank, no I am not being kept out of the loop if he knows something."Then don't tell me here but when we get back to the house, please I can't be kept out of the loop on this, they have my dad, Jackson." I say giving him puppy dog eyes, mostly to add effect, he looks over at me for a second before sighing."Fine, but you can't tell your mother that I told you anything." He tells me with a serious look, I nod agreeing with him just happy that he's actually going to tell me stuff. Before we could talk anymore, an older woman flags us down from across the road. Jackson tenses at first pulling me behind him, really, she looks like she wouldn't hurt a fly!"Hi, I haven't seen you two around here before so that must mean you're new, so welcome to our little community." She smiles crossing the road to join us, aww that's really sweet of her to do actually."Thank you, I'm Jackson and this is my partner, Alice." He smiles pointing to me, oh so I've also got a fake now too. Again, I love being kept in the loop with things!I send her a little wave from beside him as she starts to tell us a few stories, Jackson did most of the talking throughout the entire conversation. Not because I wasn't down for talking, I love meeting new people and hearing their backstories. Jackson would speak before I had the chance to! We soon wave goodbye to the woman and start on out journey again."Are you scared of older people?" I ask once we were far enough away, Jackson looks over at me totally confused. "When she flagged us down from the opposite side of the road, you looked as though you were gonna smack her or something." I almost laugh at, imagine being afraid of older people, they are some of the sweetest people ever!"I had to make sure she wasn't one of the bad guy's workers." He mutters trying to be quiet, this once again almost makes me laugh."A sweet little innocent woman would work for these bad men; Jackson are you hearing yourself right now?!" I laugh looking over at him, I'm sorry he can't be serious when he's saying that can he?"You can't be too careful; Mario's men could be lurking anywhere ready to pounce! “He exclaims before quieting down a little, he did give me a clue though with that sentence, I know the boss man that has my dad is called Mario. "I think you've been out long enough, let's head back." he tells me turning us to walk back up the hill, yes where he's about to tell me everything he knows. As soon as we stepped in the house, I started asking him questions, he once again was hesitant to answer any of them. He kept saying for me to let him get his bearings before he answered anything, I knew him getting his bearings was eating a bunch of food!He went off to the toilet for a second which gave to time to hatch my plan, I knew all these doors have weird locks on and fortunately for me, Peter was forever losing his keys to his house. After the first few times of spending a bunch of money to get the locks changed, I attempted to pick the lock on his door. After a few attempts I managed to get it done, after that I was his go to pick locker to get into his own house. Now you're probably wondering, what does that have to do with this situation? Well, my mums house has one door to the kitchen and living room, as there basically just one big room with a tiny staircase leading to each room. So, if I lock the door, he is unable to get into the kitchen to get food, I will only unlock the door once he's told me what I want to know. See it's a marvellous idea don't you think? Now in my mind, picking a lock to unlock a door and picking a lock to lock the door, has to be the same thing, right? I make sure there wasn't any keys around before setting to work on the door, it took me a few minutes to work it out, but the door was soon locked. Ha I'm a genius! As on cue Jackson makes his way down the stairs and towards the kitchen, I had my back against the door smiling."I told you I'd tell you everything once I've got my bearings." He sighs attempting to walk towards me and the kitchen, I smile holding my finger up causing him to stop."I know to get your bearings you eat, now there's only one place in this house which has food, that is the kitchen but if you see behind me, the door is locked." I smile moving aside so the door was in full view, he walks over trying the handle even pulling at the door."How did you lock this; your mum keeps all the keys with her?" He asks shocked still trying the handle, he can pull the door all he wants, it's not opening."Would you believe that picking locks to unlock and lock doors are the same?" I ask happily but Jackson doesn't look too happy with me, I just smile crossing my arms. "Now as you said my mum is the only one with the key, so that means I'm your only key to getting the precious food you want, the only way I'm going to open the door is if you tell me everything you know about Mario and my dad." I smile sweetly at him, his mouth his just hung open with shock, I do shock myself sometimes too."You are your mother's daughter, fine! I'll tell you everything." He sighs which causes me to do a victory dance, I can't believe that worked! "Can't we just go in and get a few bits for the road?" He asks whining looking at the closed kitchen door, I shake my head while turning him to face the opposite way."You can have all the food you want, after we have our little talk." I say pushing him into another room to talk, I love when I win.~9 months later~ “Noel, table 5 said their dinner was delicious.” I smile looking through to the kitchen with a smile, Noel looks up from the cooker with a smile on his face. “I’ll only produce the best boss.” He shouts before getting back to work, I smile at his comment before turning around to look at my busy restaurant. I better fill you in before you get too confused, yes, I own my own restaurant now. After everything with Mario and the base, I knew it was time I had to head back to my old life and start working in the same boring restaurant I had for years. Let’s just say, I wasn’t too thrilled about it all. My mother saw my reaction and asked why don’t I train up and become an agent, I had proven myself over the months working with Jackson and was the key role in catching Mario. The offer of course, sounded tempting but I knew it wasn’t what I was meant to do. Yes, I had the best experience getting to watch what happens and learn on the job what it offers, but I don’t think
Not even an hour later, Jackson and I were waiting behind the van with the team. The house was only a two-minute walk from here, but we needed to come up with an action plan, everyone having the mutual understanding of how unpredictable Mario can be on the best of days. But when we show up, he will soon realise, there is no way out now and he’ll need to pay for everything he has done to so many people. We don’t even want to know what he’ll do once he realises it’s all over for him, the most unpredictable man will get that much more unpredictable. Jackson was going over with the team of how we will enter the house, the unruly garden will be a perfect cover while they access the situation and make sure my mother and Mario are really there. No one was even talking about how many ways this could go wrong, all of our minds were focused on the job of getting my mother back safely and bringing Mario in. I think if I had allowed myself the moments to think all of this over in detail, I woul
An hour later, Jackson and I were walking into the base hand in hand. Now my mother has been taken by Mario, and Reece is in the hospital getting treated for being ambushed, Jackson was the boss. We needed a plan to one find where Mario has taken my mother but two, think of a way to bring Mario in without having what happened the last time. I’m led into a room which I had never seen before, it had people at desks filling the entire room. Who all turned to look at us as we walked in, paying extra attention to mine and Jackson’s interlocked fingers. I know it seems highly unprofessional that we’re doing this but let’s be honest, we all knew it was going to happen at some point! Right in the middle of the desks was a circle desk, one big computer in the middle with a bunch of people having panicked conversations with each other. In the centre of those panicked people stood Alison, who also looked worried. But once she turned to look at us, I see relief wash over her senses. “You’re fi
The car ride felt like it was going on for hours, the tracker hadn’t moved since we had been following him but with every street we would turn down, it would feel like more would be added on. Jackson was going the ways I was telling him and was shocked we were in the part of town we were, according to Jackson, this is where most of the police officers and higher ups live. Mario was hiding right under their noses, and they had no idea. But let’s be honest, Mario is very good at what he does, he knew they wouldn’t be looking for him in their part of town, so that’s exactly where he hid. “It seems like the tracker is right on this next street.” I say looking down at my phone, the feeling of finally, being able to find my father at the forefront of my mind. Jackson turns the corner, where a huge office building which towered over all the other buildings stood. I take a look down at my phone and see the tracker seems to be within the building, Mario really wasn’t trying to hide in that p
Around half an hour later, we were all on our way towards the building my father would always tell me to remember to go there if something bad happens. Jackson and I were in front in his car while my mother and Reece, were in their car travelling right behind us. For once, I wasn’t nervous about heading to this place, it’s somewhere I had been before but also, a place my father told me I’d be safe if anything happens. Why didn’t I think of this when my father first went missing? What if all we need to stop Mario is in this building? I tell Jackson to take this final right turn where the building soon comes into view, the building itself not changing from the few years I had been here. I don’t take my eyes off the place even after Jackson parks the car, both of our attentions going to this building. “Ready?” Jackson asks turning to look at me with a smile, I take a deep breath nodding my head before we both open the doors and climb out where my mother and Reece were already waiting o
The following day I wake up bright and early, now I knew I could play a key main role in finding my father, I wasn’t wasting anytime. I was even downstairs making breakfast for Jackson and I, normally, it’s the other way around. But I felt thankful for the way he was helping me, he was forced into this babysitting position, where he has been nothing but kind and compassionate even when I have been anything but easy going. Jackson soon walks into the kitchen where he comes to an abrupt stop, I was unsure if this was because I was in the kitchen before he had even woken up or because I was cooking. Before he had time to speak, he had a plate of eggs, bacon and beans in his hands. “What’s the occasion?” He asks taking a seat at the counter looking down at the food I had made, I smile turning around with my glass of water and join him on the counter. “There’s no occasion, I just couldn’t really sleep and thought it would be nice if I make you breakfast this time.” I smile as he takes h
Jackson and I soon arrive back home, the incident with Peter still fresh on my mind as we walked through the door. I know my mum said a close friend of mine was looking into my disappearance, could that close friend be Peter? Now I’m thinking, I don’t think any of my other friends would go through the trouble. Was Peter just randomly at the restaurant and happened to bump into me, or was he there in hopes of finding more information about me? There are so much unanswered questions, which I probably won’t get the answers to until all of this is over. “After that food, I think I need to lay down for a year.” Jackson says closing the door behind us, after all of that with Peter, I’m shocked he can just go back to normal life. I smile towards him as he throws his keys on the counter beside the front door, switching the lights on. But once they were on, we both jump from shock and surprise to see my mother and Reece sat on the sofa looking at us. “Why the fuck are you in my house sitti
It was now dinner time the same day, Jackson and I had done nothing but sit on the sofa, watch tv and talk about the most random of things. I know I have been saying I want nothing more than to catch Mario, which means I won’t stop until he’s found. That still remains true, and I want to work any hour I can until I find him, but I actually enjoyed today. I didn’t have to worry what would happen if Jackson and I were to make the wrong move, I didn’t have to sit and listen to all of the horrible details of the kind of things Mario has done to so many people. I felt like I was just a normal person going through their normal life for once. For dinner, Jackson suggested we go out to a restaurant to eat which at first, I was worried about Mario, but I knew he probably wouldn’t try to attack us I mean, he wants my help on more tasks so injuring me in anyway won’t be beneficial to him. The dinner was so delicious, we had picked food up at this place multiple times since I started staying at
It was later the same day, and I was just getting ready for bed, the entire rest of the day was spent with me, and Jackson sat at the base telling them what had happened. The number of times I had to explain the story of me talking on the phone with Mario was insanity! But that’s not the only part of the story I had to relive in great detail, but the moment we found Derek was also spoken about more times than I could count on my hands. Every time I would have to go over in great detail what happened, the image of his body lying there facing me, his eyes wide open looking terrified kept repeating over in my mind. I felt as though I needed to wash myself repeatedly to get whatever was in the air off me, but still the thought of Derek looking back at me wouldn’t leave. After getting changed, I look at myself in the mirror, my eyes also looking terrified just as Derek’s did. “Pull yourself together Ally.” I whisper to myself in hopes I would start to calm down, but still the feeling wou
